Participating Artists - Robin Eliason
My philosophy of art is simple: I am, therefore I draw. And draw. And draw.
I am largely self-taught as an artist. My formal education since Junior High School consists of two college level courses, one in drawing for the non-major and one in basic design.
I was drawn to fantasy art because I love the fantastic. That is why I have been a SF&F fan since I was about eight years old. I try to capture that sense of wonder in my drawings.
I love bright colored things, so my drawings are frequently done in bright colors. I find I am happier when drawing and shading, so most of my work is done in colored pencil or pastels.
I find inspiration in my everyday surroundings. My dragons, for example, are my cats Ėif my cats had opposable thumbs and wings.
I am from Salt Lake City, Utah. I was born and raised here and, except for eighteen months spent in Tacoma, Washington, I have lived here all of my life. I am old enough to know better than to answer questions about my age, letís just say Iíve been around the block a few times.
I live with my elderly mother, whom I blame for getting me hooked on SF&F in the first place. I read her collection of such at the tender age of eight. I was captivated, and have been a fan ever since. I am also the prized possession of three cats.
This is not my first art show, although it is my first convention art show Ė though by no means my first convention. I elected to show at Worldcon because I thought it would get me a lot of exposure. I plan to show at other Cons in the future.
