Publishers! Help Renovation Support Washoe County Libraries

Renovation has received enthusiastic support from Reno-area libraries this year. The librarians have been helping us get out the word that a convention for science fiction and fantasy readers is coming to town. In return, we hope that publishers will be able to help us support the libraries with a donation of books from your catalog.

The Washoe County Library System ( has 11 branches, including one branch at a senior center. Current science fiction and fantasy books for readers of all ages would therefore be welcome. Graphic novels and books for YA and beginning readers are at the top of the library system's "wish list," but current adult novels and anthologies would be welcome.

If enough books are donated, we would like to do two things: help the libraries refresh their genre collections, and also provide several books per branch for the most dedicated readers who participate in the library system's summer reading program.

The themes for the summer reading programs this year are "One World Many Stories" (0-11 year olds), "You Are Here" (12-18 year olds), and "Novel Destinations" (Adult). Any books not added to the library shelves or used as summer reading prizes will be given to the Friends of the Washoe County Library for community book sales.

How to Make a Donation

Please send your donations to the address below. If possible, send an email to and let us know your gift is on its way. Please let us know if you would like a letter from our Library Outreach Coordinator acknowledging your donation.

Because support of the summer reading programs is one of our goals, we ask that you ship books as soon as possible.

If you are not a publisher, but would like to support the Washoe County Library System, cash donations can be made via the Friends of the Washoe County Library.

Donations of books to Renovation's book drive should qualify as charitable donations according to the United States tax code because the libraries are non-profit organizations. The book drive sponsor is Reno Convention Fandom, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax-exempt corporation, registered in Oregon.
