Buckbean Brewery Tour

Renovation is delighted to offer its members free tours of Reno's Buckbean Brewery, as well as discounts for purchases made at the brewery if you show your Renovation membership badge. Buckbean's Black Noddy lager will also be one of the premium beers featured at the Drawing of the Dark bar, which you will find in Hall 2 of the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.

About the Buckbean Brewing Company

The Buckbean Brewing Company opened in 2008, and is the vision of Reno native Douglas S. Booth and veteran brewmaster Daniel B. Kahn. The company is known for three canned brews: Black Noddy Lager; Original Orange Blossom Ale; and Tule Duck Red Ale.

Buckbean takes its name from the buckbean plant, an herb which grows in the Tahoe meadows and in mountain bogs throughout North America and Eurasia. Buckbean leaves have traditionally been used as a substitute for hops in brewing, as well as a herbal remedy.

For much more information about Buckbean, check our their website at www.buckbeanbeer.com, or their Blog.

About the Tour

Renovation will be running three 1-hour long tours to the Buckbean Brewery on the afternoon of Friday, August 19. There is room for 30 people on each tour, and we have arranged a free shuttle bus to take each group from the RSCC to the Brewery at the start of the tour, and then collect them again at the end. (If you don't wish to catch the return shuttle, you can of course make your own way back - the brewery is only about 10-15 minutes drive from the RSCC, or a modest taxi fare.)

The tours will start (at the brewery) at 3, 4 and 5 p.m. The bus will starting loading at the RSCC 30 minutes before the start of each tour, and leave 15 minutes later - so for the 3 p.m. tour you will be able to board the shuttle between 2.30 and 2.45 p.m. DO NOT BE LATE - we regret we cannot hold the bus for late-comers.

Because of the limited number of available places, you will need to sign up for the tours in advance. Sign-up sheets will be available at the Renovation Info Desk in the RSCC Concourse area, and places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

The tour will include a free sampling of each of the Buckbean beers.

Note: if you cannot get a place on one of the guided tours, you can of course visit Buckbean as an individual. The Brewery is open for self-guided tours from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays.

Discounts for Renovation Members

Buckbean will be offering a 20% discount on anything bought "to go" from the Brewery during Renovation, on presentation of a valid Renovation Membership Badge.
