Honey Bee Alchemy. A Contemporary Look at the Mysterious World of Bees, Hive Products and Health by Valery A Isidorov Pdf
The book offered to the reader's attention is the author's translation of a book published in Poland in 2013. The book is addressed to the lovers of wildlife and honey bees, and to everyone interested in beekeeping products, their composition and medicinal properties. For Western European and American readers, Chapters 4 and 7, containing information about practically unknown in the West unconventional but very valuable beekeeping products, may be of particular interest. The author's scientific interests extend not only to the chemical composition and the origin of propolis, honey and other bee products, but also to the bee health. Unfortunately, in recent decades the bee health has noticeably deteriorated, resulting in many difficulties in beekeeping. The last Chapter of the book is devoted to the bee health and possible ways of their treatment, avoiding synthetic drugs with their unwanted side effects. The author's work in recent years is connected with these problems and it is no coincidence that the chapter devoted to the bee health has turned out to be the most revised and extended in comparison to the Polish edition. In preparing this publication, photographs were used, kindly provided to me by the Polish beekeeper Mrs. Teresa Porankiewicz-Bartkowiak, to whom I express my sincere gratitude.
This comprehensive beekeeping guide covers all the practicalities and will teach you everything there is to know about caring for bees and safe hive management, with clear instructions and step-by-step illustrations.
At the heart of every bee hive is a queen bee. Since her well-being is linked to the well-being of the entire colony, the ability to find her among the residents of the hive is an essential beekeeping skill. In QueenSpotting, experienced beekeeper and professional “swarm catcher” Hilary Kearney challenges readers to “spot the queen” with 48 fold-out visual puzzles — vivid up-close photos of the queen hidden among her many subjects. QueenSpotting celebrates the unique, fascinating life of the queen bee chronicles of royal hive happenings such as The Virgin Death Match, The Nuptual Flight — when the queen mates with a cloud of male drones high in the air — and the dramatic Exodus of the Swarm from the hive. Readers will thrill at Kearney’s adventures in capturing these swarms from the strange places they settle, including a Jet Ski, a couch, a speed boat, and an owl’s nesting box. Fascinating, fun, and instructive, backyard beekeepers and nature lovers alike will find reason to return to the pages again and again. Honey and pollen flora of South-Eastern Australia by Dr. Douglas Somerville Pdf
This PDF book is best viewed on a desktop or tablet. Understanding the biology of flora and its value to honey bees is the core foundation for successful beekeeping. Bees feed on nectar and pollen. No food equals no bees! The flowers on which bees forage have a major impact on stocking rates and the level of nutrition available to the colony, two subjects that need to be understood for a beekeeper to be successful. Whether a beekeeper owns one hive or a thousand, the principle is the same. Floral resources within Australia underpin so many systems and animal species. Building knowledge and understanding of what they are, and how they are adapting to a changing climate, is a critical field of scientific endeavour. This publication is part of the journey to focus on the value of plants to nectarivores and honey bees in particular. The result of over 30 years of research, it distils both scientific knowledge and the opinions of hundreds of beekeepers into a reference work that will be the cornerstone of floral understanding in apiculture for years to come. Contents Acknowledgements Preface What makes an ideal apiary site? Hive stocking rate Honey bee nutrition Star rating A note on flowering charts What’s in a name? Seeley, a world authority on honey bees, sheds light on why wild honey bees are still thriving while those living in managed colonies are in crisis. Drawing on the latest science as well as insights from his own pioneering fieldwork, he describes in extraordinary detail how honey bees live in nature and shows how this differs significantly from their lives under the management of beekeepers. Seeley presents an entirely new approach to beekeeping--Darwinian Beekeeping--which enables honey bees to use the toolkit of survival skills their species has acquired over the past thirty million years, and to evolve solutions to the new challenges they face today. He shows beekeepers how to use the principles of natural selection to guide their practices, and he offers a new vision of how beekeeping can better align with the natural habits of honey bees.
"Get the buzz on bees, honey, hive behavior, and all the things you can make with bee products in The Benevolent Bee. A honeybee hive produces much more than honey; it also produces pollen, propolis, royal jelly, beeswax, and bee venom. And humans have found uses for all these products. The Benevolent Bee will describe how and why the bees make these products, how they've been used by humans throughout the ages, and how beekeepers harvest the products. It will also present simple do-it yourself recipes for using the products in health and wellness, body care, nutrition, and craft. Beekeeper, herbalist, and artist Stephanie Bruneau explores six amazing products of the honeybee hive--honey, pollen, propolis, royal jelly, beeswax, and bee venom. Learn how to make a salve for burns and a cough syrup from raw honey; how to make a tincture, an infused oil, and a mouthwash from propolis, the anti-bacterial "bee glue" that lines the inside of the hive; and much more"--
The Alchemical Keys to Masonic Ritual by Timothy Hogan Pdf
This is the first book which establishes a direct link between the rituals of Freemasonry and the practice of both chemical and spiritual alchemy. Albert Pike understood that the symbolic degrees of Freemasonry contained alchemical secrets, but he never put the whole pattern together and showed how. This book shows these connections for the first time. This book is a must for any Freemason who wants to understand the secret meanings behind the Symbolic "Blue Lodge" ritual. Tim Hogan is a PM, 32*KCCH, KT, FRC, PSM-AMD, and Knight RC of the Royal Order of Scotland. He lectures extensively both inside and outside of the United States on Freemasonry.

User's Guide to Propolis, Royal Jelly, Honey, and Bee Pollen by C. Leigh Broadhurst, Ph.D. Pdf
The food products of bees have long been attributed with many health benefits. They can lead to greater stamina, increased resistance to disease, and, counter-intuitively, often help reduce pollen allergies. Scientific studies have revealed that bee propolis, royal jelly, honey and bee pollen are rich sources of antioxidant phytochemicals - vitamin-like substances similar to those found in common vegetables. In this User's Guide, Dr. Broadhurst explains the scientific rationale behind bee foods and describes how they can improve health.
