Thus he and all his descendants are known as the "Charcoal Burner Family." He had 6 children who took the names: Goplerud, Aspholt, Lindelien, Lundo (Lundene), Landsen, and Stugaarden. Those are the 6 "branches" in this book. There have been more than 100,000 descendants of this family. Descendants came to Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa and Dakota in the mid-1800's. Over 10,500 are listed in this book, more than half distributed widely in the U.S.A. with large numbers also in Norway (especially Valdres, Ringerike, Hallingdal and Oslo).
