How to Drink Like a Mobster by Albert W. A. Schmid Pdf

From John Dillinger's Gin Fizz to Al Capone's Templeton Rye, mobsters loved their liquor—as well as the millions that bootlegging and speakeasies made them during the Prohibition. In a time when any giggle juice could land you in the hoosegow, mobsters had their own ways of making sure the gin mill never ran dry and the drinks kept flowing. And big screen blockbusters like The Godfather, GoodFellas, and Scarface and small screen hits like The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire ensure that our obsession with mobsters won't run dry, either. Mixology expert Albert W. A. Schmid shows how you can recreate the allure of the gangster bar life with step-by-step instructions on how to set up the best Prohibition-style bar and pour the drinks to match. Recipes include mob favorites like the Machete, the Paralyzer, Greyhound (Salty Dog), Say Hello to My Little Friend, and Angel Face, as well as classics like the Gimlet, Kamikaze, and Bee's Knees. How to Drink Like a Mobster also includes profiles of the most notorious mobsters' connections to the booze business, along with tips to stay under the radar in any speakeasy: always have at least one or more aliases ready, pay with cash, don't draw attention to yourself, and in the case of a raid, drink the evidence as fast as you can!

The Lost Tales of Power by Vincent Trigili Pdf

The Lost Tales of Power is a collection of novels that describe an immense persistent multiverse. The books are a mixture of standalone and miniseries all set in the same universe with overlapping and intertwining story lines. Included in this collection is the full text of Enemy of an Enemy, The Academy, and Rise of Shadows. In addition to the three complete novels, included is a brief introduction to each book. Enemy of an Enemy: Everything seemed to be going Vydor’s way, until the Dragon Claw was sent on a rather unusual assignment to investigate a minor incident deep within the Empire’s space. That would send Vydor down a path filled with fantastically powerful enemies and extraordinary friends that would obliterate everything he ever understood to be true and threaten the very foundations of the Empire itself. The Academy: The Empire had fallen, and the Imperial Navy was disbanded leaving James with nothing but his nightmares to remind him of the role he once played in The Great War. James must now face his new life in a new era where science and technology must share the stage with sorcery and wizardry, and a new ever-present shadow of evil lurks over the remnants of the once great Empire. Rise of Shadows: In The Enemy of an Enemy, darkness came to the Empire, and magic was born from the bowels of men’s fears. The great and mighty Imperial Navy had to face and overcome unspeakable horrors. In The Academy, fledgling wizards were gathered and trained to fight back and keep the light, while the darkness laid in wait, biding its time and silently gathering its forces. Now as warriors of light, those wizards must begin to make a stand against the rising tide of darkness or watch their realm be overcome! The Lost Tales of Power is an open-ended series of Science-Fantasy books set in a vast multiverse. Lost Tales Series Volume I - The Enemy of an Enemy Volume II - The Academy Volume III - Rise of Shadows Volume IV - Resurgence of Ancient Darkness Volume V - The Sac’a’rith Volume VI - Spectra’s Gambit Volume VII - Sac'a'rith: Rebirth Volume VIII – Mage Hunter Keywords: magic, space, space opera, science fantasy, space exploration, military space, future, military sci-fi, science fiction series, aliens, adventure, war, navy, series, science fiction novels, science fiction ebooks

Caboodle of Short Stories by P. Kasturi Rangan Pdf

This collection of 8 stories for children and the age defying adults has been written over a period of many years now. The first story was written some 10 years back and I had no idea that one day I will bring it out as a compendium of my short stories. The feedbacks I received when I published the first ones as stand alone stories propelled me without a conscious but irresistible rudder towards this goal. I write a story without any set boundary or time when I feel like it towards the act of writing. I simply put down on paper the incessant urge I feel to weave a story. Some of these stories started with just an off-hand comment from a colleague or friend whereas others were more of an exertion of thought towards reaching a certain goal. The goal is always to produce a story that will be liked by children as well as by adults who are still young at heart. Physical age is not counted! Most of the stories that I see for children nowadays seem to me to be preachy. They seem to treat the child as a vessel of change by turning their thoughts towards behaving better or giving out some morals to shape their course of life. Its as if we adults (some only in appearance) want the child to behave or live an utopian life when such utopia exists only in our dreams. I have tried my best to refrain from such efforts and to treat kids as kids and provide them a situation, a problem and a possible solution. The teaching part is left out and the learning is for to the child to figure out. If the story puts a smile on the face of the reader, I shall feel my purpose is achieved. I strongly feel that a child should be left alone to enjoy his or her childhood. They shall soon have to grow up and conform to societal and other pressures. The pressure to live in a certain way will come with time. These stories are meant to provide them an alternative way to enjoy their time and to plot for their next adventure. The adventure called ‘Life’. Thanks to all who knowingly or surreptitiously helped with the course of these stories. Their comments and behaviours have made these stories flow, sometimes into unknown territories from which I had to struggle hard to rescue them and sometimes myself as well. I hope you like them. Illustrations for the stories have been done by Sahayaa Jeevan. Thanks a lot for your help. P. Kasturi Rangan
