The Tsunami Of God by Kamal Almasi Pdf

Viveka is the great knowledge of correct distinction. That is not just about demons attack. But we have a dangerous enemy named our little self. The mysterious and highly professional enemy that uses five senior commanders: anger, greed, dependency, selfishness and lust to fight with us. It is may be very enjoyable to look at the prospects of the universe within, but there are also many traps to captive the soul. Most of these traps are of a kind of inner experience which has captured most of the followers of religions and other ideologies. The reason for being affected by these traps is of putting a person as a polar in the name of the sacred existence and following him. They consider anyone who shines in light in inner words as a holy person and sacred, that is why they do not hear the silent sound of God.

The Doors of the Sea by David Bentley Hart Pdf

As news reports of the horrific December 2004 tsunami in Asia reached the rest of the world, commentators were quick to seize upon the disaster as proof of either God s power or God s nonexistence, asking over and over, How could a good and loving God if such exists allow such suffering? In The Doors of the Sea David Bentley Hart speaks at once to those skeptical of Christian faith and to those who use their Christian faith to rationalize senseless human suffering. He calls both to recognize in the worst catastrophes not the providential will of God but rather the ongoing struggle between the rebellious powers that enslave the world and the God who loves it wholly.

Can God Intervene? by Gary Stern Pdf

The death and devastation wrought by the tsunami in South Asia, Hurricane Katrina in the Gulf states, the earthquake in Pakistan, the mudslides in the Philippines, the tornadoes in the American Midwest, another earthquake in Indonesia-these are only the most recent acts of God to cause people of faith to question God's role in the physical universe. Volcanic eruptions, wildfires, epidemics, floods, blizzards, droughts, hailstorms, and famines can all raise the same questions: Can God intervene in natural events to prevent death, injury, sickness, and suffering? If so, why does God not act? If not, is God truly the All-Loving, All-Powerful, and All-Present Being that many religions proclaim? Grappling with such questions has always been an essential component of religion, and different faiths have arrived at wildly different answers. To explore various religious explanations of the tragedies inflicted by nature, author Gary Stern has interviewed 43 prominent religious leaders across the religious spectrum, among them Rabbi Harold Kushner, author of When Bad Things Happen to Good People; Father Benedict Groeschel, author of Arise from Darkness; The Rev. James Rowe Adams, founder of the Center for Progressive Christianity; Kenneth R. Samples, vice president of Reason to Believe; Dr. James Cone, the legendary African American theologian; Tony Campolo, founder of the Evangelical Association for the Promotion of Education; Dr. Sayyid Syeed, general secretary of the Islamic Society of North America; Imam Yahya Hendi, the first Muslim chaplain at Georgetown University; Dr. Arvind Sharma, one of the world's leading Hindu scholars; Robert A. F. Thurman, the first American to be ordained a Tibetan Buddhist monk; David Silverman, the national spokesman for American Atheists; and others—rabbis, priests, imams, monks, storefront ministers, itinerant holy people, professors, and chaplains—Jews, Roman Catholics, mainline Protestants, evangelical Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, and Atheists-people of belief, and people of nonbelief, too. Stern asked each of them probing questions about what their religion teaches and what their faith professes regarding the presence of tragedy. Some feel that the forces of nature are simply impersonal, and some believe that God is omniscient but not omnipotent. Some claim that nature is ultimately destructive because of Original Sin, some assert that the victims of natural disasters are sinners who deserve to die, and some explain that natural disasters are the result of individual and collective karma. Still others profess that God causes suffering in order to test and purify the victims. Stern, an award-winning religion journalist, has extensive experience in this type of analytical journalism. The result is a work that probes and challenges real people's beliefs about a subject that, unfortunately, touches everyone's life.

Philosophical Perspectives on Existential Gratitude by Joshua Lee Harris,Kirk Lougheed,Neal DeRoo Pdf

Existential gratitude-gratitude for one's very existence or life as a whole-is pervasive across the most influential human, cultural and religious traditions. Weaving together analytic and continental, as well as non-western and historical philosophical perspectives, this volume explores the nexus of gratitude, existence and God as an inter-subjective phenomenon for the first time. A team of leading scholars introduce existential gratitude as a perennially and characteristically human phenomenon, central to the distinctive life of our species. Attention is given to the conditions under which existence itself might be construed as having a gift-like or otherwise gratitude-inducing character. Drawing on a diversity of perspectives, chapters mark out new territory in philosophical inquiry, addressing whether and in what sense we ought to be grateful for our very existence. By analysing gratitude, this collection makes a novel contribution to the discourse on moral emotions, phenomenology, anti-natalism and theology.

God and the Spiritual Tsunami by Kjell Axel Johanson Pdf

God is clearly at work today. There is a cultural, political, and religious metaphorical tsunami gathering power under the surface of ordinary world events, and when it is fully released, it will turn the world as we now know it upside down. Thousands upon thousands of Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, and nominal Christians become followers of Jesus Christ every day and the effects are enormous. The premises of this book are: There is a God and the belief in God is a moral and not an intellectual question. God created mankind out of his goodness as his representatives on Earth. Since God is by nature good and generous, the essence of sin is to doubt this goodness and walk away from him. God nonetheless continues to seek man in order to bless him, and he has an encompassing plan to accomplish that purpose. He began this purpose through his covenant with Abraham and is fulfilling it through Jesus Christ. Contemporary evidence of this purpose can be seen clearly in what he is doing right before us: We see it in the nation of Israel, through the growth of the church, and the persecution of the church.

The Call of Jerusalem by Tan Nget Hong Pdf

Reading ‘The Call of Jerusalem’ from three different perspectives It's been almost 20 years since I first read Prof. Tan Nget Hong's first edition of ‘The Call of Jerusalem’. At that time, I did not know Prof. Tan personally nor had I heard about him. However, after reading this book, I wanted to make a phone call to him to express my appreciation of the book. Unfortunately, the phone call did not get through at that time. Over the past decade or so, Prof. Tan and I have become close friends and partners in the ministry of Caring and Comforting God's chosen people. On 27 and 28 October 2015, both of us were workshop speakers at the "Caring for God's Chosen People" Mandarin-speaking seminar held in Kuala Lumpur. Unexpectedly, the attendees filled the main Worship Hall of Kuala Lumpur Hokkien Methodist Church. We believed that this was the first time that a public meeting on the theme of “Caring for God’s Chosen People” was held in Malaysia. It is indeed a great honor that we can contribute to promoting the ministry of “Caring for God’s Chosen People” among the Malaysian Chinese churches. To this day, we still remember vividly the feeling of excitement in our hearts throughout the seminar, and we are indeed grateful to the Lord that we could be used by Him in this ministry. I am very glad to learn that Prof Tan is publishing an updated e-version of this book, and believe sincerely that reading this book will bring many benefits to the readers! Since his first visit to the Holy Land in 2000, Prof. Tan has made many trips to the Holy Land in the past 20 years. As a free independent traveler, he has opportunity to make meaningful visits to most biblically related places in the Holy Land, and this book is the product of his observations, research and meditations during his visits to the Holy Land over the past 20 years. Although today there are already many Chinese books about the Holy Land, this book still has its own unique features and deserves to be carefully read by believers. First of all, this book can be regarded as a very comprehensive handbook for the travelers to the Holy Land, and it serves both as a reference and a travel guide for those who are visiting the Holy Land. The destinations described in this book cover almost every Christian ‘must-visit’ site in the Holy Land. The author's explanation of each biblical site is very detailed, including the historical, geographical and cultural aspects, as well as current background. In addition, the author provides many practical guidance and suggestions for the reader based on his own rich personal experiences. The tips provided can also save first-time visitors to the Holy Land from many unnecessary hassles, including the trap of being deceived by unscrupulous ‘tour-guides’. This book can also be read as a devotional. Readers not only read about the author’s narratives of the scene and background of the biblical sites, but also his pastoral teachings, exhortations and relevant prayers. For as an elder of the church, Prof. Tan always shares with readers the relevant biblical facts and teaching, God’s will and the love of Christ. At almost every biblical site, the author quotes appropriate Scripture to help the reader connect with the teaching of the Bible. Believers who visit the Holy Land with this book in hand will feel that they not only enjoy the benefit of a personal guide to explain the significance and background of the biblical sites, but also receiving sound teachings of the Bible by an Elder with spiritual understanding. The last portion of the book reveals the author’s deep concern for the salvation of God’s chosen people as he exhorts believers to share God’s desire for the redemption of the Jews. May the apostle Paul's prayer become the prayer of every believers: "Brothers and sisters, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved." (Rom 10:1). This is also the burden that I share with the author. Our life mission is to make people know Christ and fulfill the Great Commission, through our speaking or writing, and in this, the Jews should have the priority, because ‘salvation is from the Jews’, as Paul says in Romans: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.” (Rom 1:16). Therefore, this book can be read from three different perspectives: 1. As a Holy Land travel guidebook for Christian travelers 2. As a devotional aid for Christian spiritual discipline 3. As an introduction to Missions to the Jews I pray that the Lord may use this book as a blessing for every reader.

God Is Samoan by Matt Tomlinson Pdf

Christian theologians in the Pacific Islands see culture as the grounds on which one understands God. In this pathbreaking book, Matt Tomlinson engages in an anthropological conversation with the work of “contextual theologians,” exploring how the combination of Pacific Islands culture and Christianity shapes theological dialogues. Employing both scholarly research and ethnographic fieldwork, the author addresses a range of topics: from radical criticisms of biblical stories as inappropriate for Pacific audiences to celebrations of traditional gods such as Tagaloa as inherently Christian figures. This book presents a symphony of voices—engaged, critical, prophetic—from the contemporary Pacific’s leading religious thinkers and suggests how their work articulates with broad social transformations in the region. Each chapter in this book focuses on a distinct type of culturally driven theological dialogue. One type is between readers and texts, in which biblical scholars suggest new ways of reading, and even rewriting, the Bible so it becomes more meaningful in local terms. A second kind concerns the state of the church and society. For example, feminist theologians and those calling for “prophetic” action on social problems propose new conversations about how people in Oceania should navigate difficult times. A third kind of discussion revolves around identity, emphasizing what makes Oceania unique and culturally coherent. A fourth addresses the problems of climate change and environmental degradation to sacred lands by encouraging “eco-theological” awareness and interconnection. Finally, many contextual theologians engage with the work of other disciplines— prominently, anthropology—as they develop new discourse on God, people, and the future of Oceania. Contextual theology allows people in Oceania to speak with God and fellow humans through the idiom of culture in a distinctly Pacific way. Tomlinson concludes, however, that the most fruitful topic of dialogue might not be culture, but rather the nature of dialogue itself. Written in an accessible, engaging style and presenting innovative findings, this book will interest students and scholars of anthropology, world religion, theology, globalization, and Pacific studies.

The Many Faces of God by Walter Prucnel Pdf

God looked at the earth with despair. He knew the future of earth was dismal; it was prone to the pollutions created by man. Worse yet, people in many countries were killing others for their different religious beliefs. Gone was the day of the cross and bow when men fought each other face to face. Now many countries were making weapons that could travel great distances to kill millions. This both saddened and angered Him and He knew something had to be done. Should I create another flood? Have everyone turned into salt? No, none of these would work because many souls would be sent to Hell and Satan could not accommodate that many. He could perform miracles to improve these conditions, but that would take away the Earthlings' freewill. The only solution was for the Earthlings to improve their own fate with a little help from Him. Summoning his Undergods, He gave them instructions to choose a few Earthlings, approach them through apparitions and give them minor powers, which would aid them in their missions. Thus, The Many Faces of God begins.

Spiritual Tsunami by Dr. Fred Thompson Pdf

Current events in the news more and more read and sound like the fulfillment of end-times bible prophecies! Correlation between the bible and current events is clearer now than five years ago. We cannot afford to keep sticking our heads in the sand about this convergence. We are not there yet, but things are plainly making strong headway toward the reality of prophesied end-times happenings. The key word is Watch! We must remain knowledgably vigilant. Scripture must be studied for clues and signposts of last-day events and then comparison must be made with reported events to discern how they relate to one another.

Our World-God's Visible Language by Jerry Salloum Pdf

“How could you ever have thought [our world] was the ultimate reality? How could you ever have thought that it was merely a stage set for the moral drama of men and women?” For the many who share these thoughts from C.S. Lewis, our world is far more than mere matter, space and energy. Its orderly patterns, its reliable processes and arresting natural beauty give it the capacity to speak, without words, a mysterious language that feeds our curiosity and wonder about it. We are drawn into the world of the audacious, with thoughts beyond the conventional, to posit an intelligent and imaginative Artist and Architect whose ineffable Creation in both its spatial and temporal dimensions defies adequate verbal expression. In delving into revelation contained in various earth sciences and within the pages of the Bible, Our World: God’s Visible Language reveals a congruency between these two avenues to Truth, that the visible Creation repeatedly declares the glory and mystery of the invisible God, and that science is not an enemy to faith. Informative and written with imagination and personal anecdotes, these pages provide readers an opportunity to better understand the invisible God and His written Word, nudging us toward a loftier context in which life can be lived and enjoyed with hope and purpose.

Dreaming God's Dreams by David Michael Donnangelo Pdf

"And it shall be in the last days, saith God, I will pour forth of my Spirit upon all flesh: And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, And your young men shall see visions, And your old men shall dream dreams: " (Acts 2:17, ASV). There has never been a greater time for God's people to put aside their petty religious insanities and "wake up" to hear "His" voice; whether it comes in the explosive eruption of a volcano, a clap of thunder, or a whisper in your ear in the stillness of the night. Inside the cover of this book are essential ingredients to hear His voice in the quiet of the night. The WORD says: "and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice" (John 10:4, ASV). Do you know His voice? Perhaps it's time we take the principles found within this book and learn to recognize all the ways that "He" can, and is speaking to us. Pastor Joseph Landreth "Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men." (Mark 1:17, NKJV)
