No Excuse ... Save Your Life! by Joseph Weiss,Nancy Cetel Pdf

Colorectal cancer screening, as many areas of health care, would benefit by having a more knowledgeable public. Knowledge may lead to greater compliance, accuracy, safety, and cost reductions. It literally is a very important matter of life, health, wealth, and death. In the US there are over 140,000 new cases and more than 51,000 deaths every year. Colon polyps often precede colorectal cancer and with screening can frequently be removed preventing the cancer from ever developing. If cancer is discovered by screening the cure rate exceeds 90% when found early. Colorectal cancer screening is a $15 billion dollar a year industry where patient safety and care is often secondary to financial interests. While colonoscopy has value, its promotion as the 'gold standard' of colorectal cancer and polyp screening is in error. The significant limitations of colonoscopy, that frequently result in missed opportunities to prevent or cure cancer, are clearly addressed. Women require a different approach than men, and have been grossly underserved with the present approach to screening. This can be corrected with simple and effective non-invasive measures to enhance accuracy and safety. This alternative is underutilized because of financial considerations that promote colonoscopy. The scientific evidence based recommendations will result in billions of dollars of cost savings by avoiding unnecessary colonoscopies, and the tragedy of lost opportunities to prevent and cure cancer when colonoscopy is the only test relied on.The book takes a critical look at the glaring gaps in the present colorectal cancer and polyp screening programs that could be corrected with the ease of noninvasive screening tests, the avoidance of unnecessary colonoscopy, enhanced safety, and with significant cost savings. Potentially life saving, clearly written, accurate, and highly informative, this book may well be the best investment the reader ever made.

Gut-Check by Jeffrey M. Aron,Harriette E. Aron Pdf

Transplanted by Necessity is a story of my life. I wanted to leave something for my children that no one else could give them. I felt that a small piece of history of my life may be helpful at some point in their own life, if nothing else they could look back and see what life was like for me as a young girl growing up in the mountains of West Virginia during the late 1930's and 40's. When life gets tough they would know that the generation before them was tough also and the generations before my generation were more difficult. Life is as difficult as you allow it to be, each generation found a way to make it work for them, each generation stood for something and believed that what they were doing was the right thing at that time. I know that family history can be boring, so I chose to include the things that stand out most in my life as I remember them, The funny, the sad and the seemingly unthinkable parts that molded and shaped my life into the person I was destined to be. Perhaps my siblings saw it differently, or remembered it differently and that too is accepted as we can only remember so much from seventy years of life. My life is no more important than any other life or no more exciting or devastating as a normal American citizen's life, it is just the fact that I chose to put my life in print for the amusement the recalled memories brought to me. I only hope that my family, friends and readers find it amusing as well. My years have taken me from the mountains of West Virginia to big city of Chicago, to the Chicago Suburbs and later plopped me in the rural Midwest. We live in Marengo, IL, a little town about seventy miles west of Chicago, surrounded by cornfields and soybean fields. We live five miles from town in the quite and peaceful countryside much like going back to my roots.

No Guts, Lotsa Glory - the Fecal Manpurse - Book 3 by Stuart Chapin Pdf

What happens when a gifted writer is diagnosed with advanced colon cancer at 47 and faces the worst case scenario - a torturous uphill battle of unimaginable pain, fear, humiliation and heartache? What's the medicine of choice that's going to keep him alive? He writes.Stuart Chapin - screenwriter, director, stuntman, 80's action star, loving husband and father of two. He has a perspective like no other and a plan to beat the odds. Brutally honest, he crafts words with a relentless wit. To survive cancer, you need more than a sense of humor. You need an unending arsenal, which Stuart cultivated for years as a singing telegram messenger. As he was being wheeled into surgery for the first time, a nurse leans over and "In the purest Southern drawl ever, she said, "We find in cases where's a lessen a 50/50 chance o' survival, it really helps if the patient has something to live for. Wassh y'all got to live for, sugah?"I thought, Who trained you? What I said was, "I want to walk my daughter down the aisle.""Oh, that's precious! When's the date?""How the hell should I know? She's six and this ain't West Virginia. Do it right."And Stuart found plenty to live for. Whether it was teaching Shakespeare to inner city kids, walking his little girl down the aisle, building his kids their dream treehouse, or writing this journal, a strong sense of purpose is essential along with a perspective that's going to keep you sane along the way.Colon cancer is the number two killer and the number one most preventable. If by some misfortune you have it, this book will prepare you for the harsh reality and help you prepare a battle plan. If not, this should serve as a cautionary tale for you to eat right, exercise, and get checked out, especially if you're over 50.Regardless, if you ever had a dream you thought was crazy..."Don't put it off. Start it today. Whatever it is, make even a small start. The world cannot wait. If it's daunting, if it scares the hell out of you, so much the better. And ladies and gentlemen, I know whereof I speak, doitnow, doitnow, doitnow. You don't have time to put it off. With that in mind, I leave you with the words of one last great philosopher who was far less a curmudgeon than I, who said, "When we have lost everything, including hope, life becomes a disgrace, and death a duty."That man was W.C. Fields.Go in haste. Abide in hope. Be good cynics. Add your light to the sum of light." - S Chapin.

Fiber Fueled by Will Bulsiewicz, MD Pdf

The instant New York Times, USA Today, and Publisher's Weekly bestseller A bold new plant-based plan that challenges popular keto and paleo diets, from an award-winning gastroenterologist. The benefits of restrictive diets like paleo and keto have been touted for more than a decade, but as renowned gastroenterologist Dr. Will Bulsiewicz, or "Dr. B," illuminates in this groundbreaking book, the explosion of studies on the microbiome makes it abundantly clear that elimination diets are in fact hazardous to our health. What studies clearly now show--and what Dr. B preaches with his patients--is that gut health is the key to boosting our metabolism, balancing our hormones, and taming the inflammation that causes a host of diseases. And the scientifically proven way to fuel our guts is with dietary fiber from an abundant variety of colorful plants. Forget about the fiber your grandmother used to take--the cutting-edge science on fiber is incredibly exciting. As Dr. B explains, fiber energizes our gut microbes to create powerhouse postbiotics called short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) that are essential to our health. SCFAs are scientifically proven to promote weight loss, repair leaky gut, strengthen the microbiome, optimize the immune system, reduce food sensitivities, lower cholesterol, reverse type 2 diabetes, improve brain function, and even prevent cancer. Restrictive fad diets starve the gut of the critical fiber we need, weaken the microbes, and make our system vulnerable. As a former junk-food junkie, Dr. B knows firsthand the power of fiber to dramatically transform our health. The good news is that our guts can be trained. Fiber-rich, real foods--with fruits, vegetables, whole grains, seeds, nuts, and legumes--start working quickly and maintain your long-term health, promote weight loss, and allow you to thrive and feel great from the inside out. With a 28-day jumpstart program with menus and more than 65 recipes, along with essential advice on food sensitivities, Fiber Fueled offers the blueprint to start turbocharging your gut for lifelong health today.

The Colon Cancer Diet by Dr Christopher J Maloney N D Pdf

Do you or a loved one have a diagnosis of colon cancer? Did you know that changing your diet could lower your risk of dying of it even after you've been diagnosed? When you finish this book I want you to be able to tell me, in one minute or less, how you should eat, exercise, and supplement to lower your risk of dying of colon cancer after you've been diagnosed with it. If you can do that, please tell me and everyone else in a book review and on my website. When I was diagnosed with colon cancer I went looking for information on what I could do and no one had the answers I wanted. I found the best answers available in the medical literature. It helps that I trained as a Naturopathic Doctor before my diagnosis. I know a fair amount about both natural and conventional alternatives. And I can read medicalese so you don't have to. It's terrible to be where we are. But we have choices, and this book is my way of giving us direction and hope.
