Jonah: The Man Whose God and Heart Were Too Small by Dr. Dean Cook Pdf

E. Dean Cook is a retired Navy chaplain who also taught at Roberts Wesleyan College, Rochester, New York, and was its first campus chaplain. For ten years, he was senior pastor of the Wilmore Free Methodist Church near Lexington, Kentucky, where he also taught, mentored, and supervised ministerial students at Asbury Theological Seminary and Asbury University. During his long and varied career as a clergyman, he served as senior chaplain at the Naval Base Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California; serving also on the aircraft carrier USS America and several other naval ships and installations. He was appointed Director of his denomination's chaplains. He holds a bachelor's degree in Biblical Literature from Seattle Pacific University, master's and doctoral degrees from Asbury Theological Seminary, and an honorary doctor's degree from Roberts Wesleyan College. He holds the rank of Captain in the Navy Chaplain Corps and was made an Honorary Admiral by the Commonwealth of Kentucky. He has been married to his wife, Ruth, for 55 years. They have four sons and six grandchildren. Cook is the author of two other books: Salt of the Sea (an account of his chaplain career) and Being God's Presence in Closed Communities, a history of his denomination's chaplaincy ministries. His interest in and study of the book of Jonah was ignited by the wide variety of interpretations given the book. The writer believes that Jonah has a clear and powerful message for this generation and the Church, who are prone to follow the god they want rather than the God that is.

The Jonah Complex by Greg Haslam Pdf

“Here is a book that is both learned and easy-to-read, well-researched and inspiring. Greg Haslam has done a masterful job in producing a work that deserves to be read by every church leader and every believer. I pray that your mind will be challenged and your heart warmed by what you are about to read.” Dr. RT Kendall The message of Jonah to us today is both provocative and prophetic. It reminds us that God has a passion for reaching people that far exceeds our own. It reminds us that He is deeply affected by human sin and consistently seeks to win people back to Him by extending His outrageous grace to them. We all have something of Jonah in us. Like him, we are often wrapped up in our own concerns. But God gave Jonah a wake-up call he would never forget, setting him back on the path to achieving his destiny – and He can and will do the same for us! We may have messed up on the past or feel disqualified from doing anything great for God, but Jonah’s life is the ultimate evidence of the “God of the second chance”. Greg Haslam takes us on a journey to help us understand and cooperate with the will of God for our lives and highlights the power of what even one person can do if fully surrendered to the Almighty.

The Heart's Choice (The Jewels of Kalispell Book #1) by Tracie Peterson,Kimberley Woodhouse Pdf

They must uncover the truth before it's buried forever. After witnessing a wrongful conviction as a young girl, Rebecca Whitman--the first female court reporter in Montana--is now determined to defend the innocent. During a murder trial, something doesn't sit well with her about the case, but no one except the handsome new Carnegie librarian will listen to her. Librarian Mark Andrews's father sent him to college hoping he would take over the business side of the family ranch, but Mark would rather wrangle books than cows. When a patron seeks help with research in hopes of proving a man's innocence, Mark is immediately drawn to her and her cause. In a race against time, will Rebecca and Mark find the evidence they need--and open their hearts to love--before it's too late?
