The Complete Book of Mario by Sona Books,Ross Hamilton Pdf

When Shigeru Miyamoto created "Jumpman" for his new platform game, Donkey Kong, it's highly unlikely that he realised he was creating the most recognisable gaming character of all time. That's exactly what happened though, and after a quick name change to Mario as well as a change in job professions (he started off life as a carpenter) the mascot to end all mascots was born. Everyone remembers the first time they discovered the princess they were rescuing was in another castle, or their first encounter with Bowser. They remember the impact of witnessing a 3D Mario in Super Mario 64 or the time they teared across Rainbow Road in Super Mario Kart. There is no denying that Mario has had an incredible impact on the games industry. The Complete Book of Mario celebrates Nintendo's greatest star from Super Mario Bros to Super Mario Odyssey and every aspect of the popular character.

Mario Lanza by Derek Mannering Pdf

Blessed with one of the great tenor voices of all time, Mario Lanza (1921-1959) rose to spectacular heights in a film, recording, and concert career that spanned little more than a decade. Groomed at the outset for a career on the opera stage, Lanza instead flourished in Hollywood where his films, most notably The Great Caruso, broke box-office records the world over and influenced the careers of countless musicians. To this day, the Three Tenors cite him as an inspiration for their own careers on the classical stage. Lanza's recordings for RCA sold in the millions, and he remains the crossover artist supreme. But his tremendous success was derailed by his self-destructive lifestyle, and by age thirty-eight he was dead, with his extraordinary promise left unfulfilled. Newly revised and updated for its first U.S. edition, Mario Lanza: Singing to the Gods is the definitive account of the remarkable life and times of one of the twentieth century's most beloved singing stars. This richly detailed work also contains a selection of rare photographs, several of which are drawn from Lanza's estate. With the support of Lanza's daughter, Ellisa Lanza Bregman, the tenor's colleagues, and his closest friend, Terry Robinson, Derek Mannering has chronicled a fascinating and unforgettable life. From the fabulous successes of the early MGM years through the disastrous walkouts and cancellations that sent Lanza's career into freefall, Mannering objectively and movingly reveals the story of a great star torn apart by his own troubled psyche and undisciplined lifestyle.

Inside Team Sky by David Walsh Pdf

After the victory of Bradley Wiggins and Team Sky in the 2012 Tour de France, the pressure was on the team to repeat their success in 2013. Could he bring about back-to-back victories for the UK and for Team Sky? With team principal Sir Dave Brailsford at the helm, the levels of expectation were high. Nothing less than a win would do. Embedded within the team was top sportswriter David Walsh, who had been covering the sport for four decades. The Sunday Times writer had done more than any other journalist to reveal the lies of Lance Armstrong, he has the reputation for exposing the dark secrets that cycling would want to keep hidden. Raising Mario Twice by Christine Scharmer Pdf

This is the true story of one family's heartfelt encounter with a tragic event. It is also the story of how love can transform a nightmare into a miracle. It was an impossibility that Mario had survived the car crash and yet he had. It took almost a brigade of firemen and "The Jaws of Life" to extract him from the wreck. He was found slumped over the driver’s steering wheel unconscious. He was having trouble breathing and suffered severe traumatic brain injury. On route to the hospital he was ventilated through an oral mouthpiece. The paramedics could not intubate him because his mouth was clenched shut. He was considered brain dead on arrival to the emergency room. The doctors put Mario in an induced coma for twenty-one days. It was not expected that he would live. Many people prayed for Mario and his family and even though Mario lived, he was considered a vegetable with a poor prognosis for any meaningful recovery. With more prayers and healing Mario slowly recovered. After one hundred forty-one days of hospitals, Mario finally responded to a doctor and got into a rehabilitation facility. He stayed in rehab for forty days and finally came home. He wore diapers, couldn't talk, walk, eat, or move most of his body. The first few years of taking care of Mario were extremely challenging. It has been a difficult journey, but inch-by-inch Mario has kept improving. He never gives up and through the love of his family and friends remains happy most of the time. Richard Carlson a friend of Mario's and author of the "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff" books said, "Mario is the happiest person I know." And Mario says, "Smile because somebody loves you."

Partnering to Prepare Urban Teachers by American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education Pdf

This book attempts to present both theoretical and practical perspectives on school and university partnerships that focus on the preparation and retention of urban teachers. In particular, the book focuses on (a) theoretical and historical underpinnings of partnering to prepare urban teachers as social activists; (b) stories from the field, explored through the voices and actions of students, families, teacher educators, and preservice and in-service teachers; and (c) a critical analysis of this work. The research presented is situated in urban settings that mirror those across the United States and represents partnerships in Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Los Angeles, and Wilmington, where school, city, and teacher education communities collaborate to prepare and keep teachers in hard-to-staff, high-needs schools. Case studies included in the text explore multiple perspectives on partnering to prepare urban teachers - including those of urban schoolchildren and their teachers, teacher educators and teachers becoming teacher educators, and parents. Combined, the chapters theoretically and practically detail the layers and conundrums, tribulations and triumphs, contexts and voices of the challenges facing urban teachers, teacher educators, community members, and administrators who work collaboratively to prepare and support teachers as social activists.
