I started writing at the age of sixty-one. I've read over a thousand books and decided to try it. Since the first one, I have written nine books. I hope you enjoy it. This book is about a lone woman who is going through hard times raising her children in the mountains of West Virginia. The oldest child goes out on his own with the ideal of making a new life for his mom, brother, and sister, only to get caught up in a jam in which only his brother could get him out of and finally made his mother's dreams come true through the barrel of his Colt .45 in the form of death to wanted outlaws.

My Brother's Name Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle

Jane Fields has idolized her older brother, John, since they were children. She follows in his footsteps as a drummer, and when he suffers a psychotic break as a young man, she follows him into the bewildering landscape of mental illness. Surrendering to John’s schizophrenic and elliptical logic, Jane assumes her older brother’s identity, and begins to make a life for herself as a young man named John. Every day, Jane interacts with the world as John, and then comes home to tell her brother the stories of his own life, under the naïve and perhaps mad hope that these stories will help John remember and return to the self he lost. But in the act of being John, Jane runs the risk of becoming him. Jane soon identifies more strongly with the man she’s become than the overshadowed woman she once was. When John begins to demand that Jane give up certain aspects of the life she’s built under her assumed identity, particularly a romance, Jane’s double life becomes a house of cards that threatens to collapse. Jane and John are forced to confront the limits of their ability to control each other, and the world around them, through the stories they tell--but just how deep into mental illness can Jane slide?

Stolen Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle

At the age of twenty-one, Kenny has not overcome the trauma of being kidnapped by a pedophile when he was a child. He vows to find and confront his kidnapper. Jimmy is nine years old and meets a man named Joe. He gets into Joe’s car and becomes the latest captive. Joe is a genius, well educated, and has an important job with a government contractor. He has passed numerous security clearances without question. He does not think he is a dangerous person. All he wants is someone to love him, the way any son would love his father. Kenny describes Joe to an artist friend who draws a remarkable likeness. Kenny turns to the Internet, creates a web page, puts the picture on it, and asks for people to help identify the whereabouts of Joe. He meets someone online who thinks he works with a man who looks a lot like the picture. He agrees to help. Sue is Jimmy’s mother. When a week passes and Jimmy still isn’t found, she gets actively involved in the search for her son. She initiates a fund-raising campaign to get money for a reward, gets posters printed and distributed. She goes on TV to plead for his return and gives interviews to newspaper reporters. Kathy is Joe’s ex-wife. She has maintained minimal contact with him over the years. Now that she is getting remarried, she is drawn back into his world again. Her guilty conscience bothers her because she never reported Joe’s fantasies to anyone in authority. The newspapers and television news programs report daily on Jimmy’s disappearance and she begins to wonder if her ex took him.

Why Dementia Makes Communication Difficult Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle

Dementia brings many challenges, not least its ability to disrupt effective communication. The quality of communication plays a major role in how well people living with a dementia manage. When communication doesn't work well, the complications of dementia are compounded. Rather than only offering tips on what to say and how to say it, this book explores the underlying motivations of communication, so we can better understand why we say what we do, why we say it the way we do, what can go wrong, and how attempts to fix things can go awry. As well as considering why communication goes wrong in day-to-day conversations, the chapters offer advice on dealing with awkward moments, the question of deception, and the things we can and can't control in dementia. Readers are asked to reflect on their own role, and how they can manage their own behaviours to avoid unintentionally blocking routes to productive communication. Including clear action points for carers, bystanders and people with a dementia diagnosis, this book shows how to approach communication to improve outcomes.

Taatsaa' Shaa K' Exalthet Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle

Born in 1922, Kenny Thomas Sr. has been a trapper, firefighter, road builder, river-freight hauler, and soldier. Today he is a respected elder and member of a northern Athabaskan tribal group residing in Tanacross, Alaska. As a song and dance leader for the Tanacross community, Thomas has been teaching village traditions at an annual culture camp for more than twenty years. Over a three-year period, folklorist Craig Mishler conducted a series of interviews with Thomas about his life experiences. Crow Is My Boss is the fascinating result of this collaboration. Written in a style that reflects the dialogue between Thomas and Mishler, Crow Is My Boss retains the authenticity of Thomas’s voice, capturing his honesty and humor. Thomas reveals biographical details, performs and explains traditional folktales and the potlatch tradition, and discusses ghosts and medicine people. One folktale is presented in both English and Tanacross, Thomas’s native language. A compelling personal story, Crow Is My Boss provides insight into the traditional and contemporary culture of Tanacross Athabaskans in Alaska. Turtle Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle

So, to get to the point, if it's a ripping yarn you're after you should give up now. Just put the damned book down and find something more satisfying, a love story perhaps, or a thriller. A story where the goodies win and the baddies get what they deserve. Because there are no goodies here, just me, my family, and a turtle that speaks with a Glasgow accent. In other words, complete and utter shite. Or, as I prefer to see it, the truth. Because sometimes they're both the same thing, truth and lies. And you can't have one without the other, can you?
