But one day after Leanna and Deadeye escort Sanbal and another elder on a trip to Sanbal’s boyhood home, everything changes. As Sanbal relays the story of his earlier travels to a remote mind overlap where he first learned about mysterious turtle stones and a secret society, Deadeye and Leanna are intrigued by the idea that people may have the ability to traverse beyond their universe—but only after Throat Eye is defeated. As they mature into adulthood and fall in love, Deadeye and Leanna resist their destiny. But unavoidable reality stalks them. After the lovers elope and team up as extradimensional detectives, they discover Throat Eye is torturing artists and the secret society is growing. A trick leaves Deadeye trapped in a cavern for two decades, and now only time will tell whether he can escape to reunite with Leanna and his gang as battles against the Throat Eye organization intensify into a final confrontation. In this fantasy tale, a miracle turns maniacal in an endearing adventure that takes two poetic detectives and their gang on a dangerous journey to stop a plague on human consciousness.

Beasts of Burden: Animal Rites by Evan Dorkin Pdf

Welcome to Burden Hill — a picturesque little town adorned with white picket fences and green, green grass, home to a unique team of paranormal investigators. Beneath this shiny exterior, Burden Hill harbors dark and sinister secrets, and it's up to a heroic gang of dogs — and one cat — to protect the town from the evil forces at work. These are the Beasts of Burden Hill — Pugs, Ace, Jack, Whitey, Red and the Orphan — whose early experiences with the paranormal (including a haunted doghouse, a witches' coven, and a pack of canine zombies) have led them to become members of the Wise Dog Society, official animal agents sworn to protect their town from evil. This turns out to be no easy task, as they soon encounter demonic cannibal frogs, tortured spirits, a secret rat society, and a bizarre and deadly resurrection in the Burden Hill cemetery — events which lead to fear and heartbreak as our four-legged heroes discover that the evil within Burden Hill is growing and on the move. Can our heroes overcome these supernatural menaces? Can evil be bested by a paranormal team that doesn't have hands? And even more importantly, will Pugs ever shut the hell up? Adventure, mystery, horror, and humor thrive on every page of Beasts of Burden — a comic-book series that will capture readers' hearts and haunt their dreams. Award-winning comics creators Evan Dorkin (Milk and Cheese) and Jill Thompson (Scary Godmother) first introduced these very special investigators in The Dark Horse Book of Hauntings and the other Dark Horse Book of . . . anthologies, for which they won coveted Eisner Awards for Best Short Story and Best Painter. Those first tales are collected here, along with the comic series Beasts of Burden issues #1–#4.

Twelve Years a Slave by Solomon Northup Pdf

Filmatized in 2013 and the official recipient of three Oscars, Solomon Northup's powerful slave narrative 'Twelve Years a Slave' depicts Nortup's life as he is sold into slavery after having spent 32 years of his life living as a free man in New York. Working as a travelling musician, Northup goes to Washington D.C, where he is kidnapped, sent to New Orleans, and sold to a planter to suffer the relentless and brutal life of a slave. After a dozen years, Northup escapes to return to his family and pulls no punches, as he describes his fate and that of so many other black people at the time. It is a harrowing but vitally important book, even today. For further reading on this subject, try 'Uncle Tom's Cabin' by Harriet Beecher Stowe. Solomon Northup (c.1807-c.1875) was an American abolitionist and writer, best remembered for his powerful race memoir 'Twelve Years a Slave'. At the age of 32, when he was a married farmer, father-of-three, violinist and free-born man, he was kidnapped in Washington D.C and shipped to New Orleans, sold to a planter and enslaved for a dozen years. When he gained his freedom, he wrote his famous memoir and spent some years lecturing across the US,on behalf of the abolitionist movement. 'Twelve Years a Slave' was published a year after 'Uncle Tom's Cabin' by Harriet Beecher Stowe and built on the anti-slavery momentum it had developed. Northup's final years are something of a mystery, though it is thought that he struggled to cope with family life after being freed.

Solving the Mystery of Babylon the Great by Edward Hendrie Pdf

"Attorney and Christian researcher Edward Hendrie investigates and reveals one of the greatest exposes of all time. . . . a book you don't want to miss. Solving the Mystery of Babylon the Great is packed with documentation. Never before have the crypto-Jews who seized the reins of power in Rome been put under such intense scrutiny." Texe Marrs, Power of Prophecy. People have wondered and debated for centuries about the identity of the mysterious Babylon the Great in the book of Revelation. Solving the Mystery of BABYLON THE GREAT examines the historical evidence in light of the scriptures and solves the mystery. The evidence leads to the ineluctable conclusion is that the Roman Catholic Church was established by crypto-Jews as a false "Christian" front for a Judaic/Babylonian religion. That religion is the nucleus of a world conspiracy against man and God. That is not a soft conspiracy theory based upon speculation, but rather the hard truth based upon authoritative evidence, which is documented in this book. Texe Marrs explains in his foreword to the book: "Who is Mystery Babylon? What is the meaning of the sinister symbols found in these passages? Which city is being described as the 'great city' so full of sin and decadence, and who are its citizens? Why do the woman and beast of Revelation seek the destruction of the holy people, the saints and martyrs of Jesus? What does it all mean for you and me today? Solving the Mystery of Babylon the Great answers these questions and more. Edward Hendrie's discoveries are not based on prejudice but on solid evidence aligned forthrightly with the 'whole counsel of God.' He does not condone nor will he be a part of any project in which Bible verses are taken out of context, or in which scriptures are twisted to mean what they do not say. Again and again you will find that Mr. Hendrie documents his assertions, backing up what he says with historical facts and proofs. Most important is that he buttresses his findings with scriptural understanding. The foundation for his research is sturdy because it is based on the bedrock of God's unshakeable Word."

Rock Dreaming by Neil Creighton Pdf

Neil Creighton's poems insist that it is time, long past time, to acknowledge crimes against indigenous people, to stop cloaking and hiding past colonialism and current racism with lies, to shine a light of honesty on what the legacy of the white invasion of Australia really is, and to begin creating a space of hope for healing. Painful, powerful, and truly necessary poetry. -Laura M. Kaminski, Managing Editor of Praxis Magazine Online and Author of five poetry collections and four chapbooks, including Anchorhold and The Heretic's Hymnal It is astonishing how Rock Dreaming reasserts Australia's precolonial history, confronts her colonial history, rewrites the history, and transcends its endless tyranny with a great anger, a greater insight, and a much greater empathy capable of healing the oppressed. The magic of this collection is rooted in Creighton's humane attention to the details of the conditions of the people whose lives his poems explore so powerfully. -Darlington Chibueze Anuonye, Curator of Daybreak: An Anthology of Short Nigerian Fiction The poems in Rock Dreaming approach their difficult subject matter in many ways. They are lyrical, journalistic, deeply personal, and historical. Often confronting, unflinching, almost cinematically brutal, they seek justice but never self-justification. In them Creighton seeks "to gouge a path of acknowledgment straight into the heart of national conscience." The poems reveal a tender heart and a desire to educate the reader about a buried history of genocide. We can only hope that works such as these can incite sufficient indignation and compassion to lead to whatever reparations are still possible. -Betsy Mars, Author of Alinea

Before Seattle Rocked by Kurt E. Armbruster Pdf

Seattle is a music town with rich, deep roots that have influenced the culture and identity of its civic life for decades. In a society that appreciates music but is ambivalent toward the profession of making it, the importance and contribution of Seattle's musicians have been routinely overlooked in historical accounts of the city. Kurt Armbruster fills that gap in this far-reaching and entertaining panorama of Seattle music from the 1890s to the 1960s, "before Seattle rocked." For this once-remote city, music forged links as real as those created by railroads and steamships. Classical music embodied the middle-class aspirations for gentility and cosmopolitan stature; jazz and blues gave Seattle's small African American community a vehicle for affirmation and economic advancement; ethnic music helped immigrants adjust to a new home; songs and drumming kept the memories of the Duwamish alive in a changing world. Before Seattle Rocked is enlivened by personal anecdotes and memories from many of Seattle's most beloved musicians and is enriched by historic photos of the changing music scene. Antichrist: The Beast Revealed by Edward Hendrie Pdf

The antichrist is among us, here and now. This book proves it by comparing the biblical prophecies about the antichrist with the evidence that those prophecies have been fulfilled. This book documents the man of sin?s esoteric confession that he is the antichrist. You will learn how the antichrist has changed times and laws as prophesied by Daniel, and how he is today sitting in the temple of God, ?shewing himself that he is God,? in fulfillment of Paul?s prophesy in 2 Thessalonians 2:4. The beast of Revelation has come into the world, ?after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness,? as prophesied in 2 Thessalonians 2:10.
