Sydney Whitmore, a forensic psychologist, moves to Shipwreck Island and renews her relationship with Ezra Reinhold, a reclusive billionaire who enjoys poking around in cold cases and has the means to hire the best people to find the answers no one else has been able to. In book 4 in the series, Syd has settled into her new home at the resort just in time for a good old fashion Thanksgiving but before she can leave the stress of her old life behind she must first complete one final interview relating to Conrad Baker, the serial killer whose actions sent her running to Shipwreck Island in the first place. The problem is that the interview turns into a bit of a disaster throwing the entire case built by the district attorney into doubt. Syd knows Baker is guilty in spite of the fact that the case against him seems to be crumbling so she decides to take a second look at her assumptions and ends up with a realization she never expected.

The Resort at Castaway Bay by Kathi Daley Pdf

A forensic psychologist working for the FBI moves to Shipwreck Island and renews her relationship with her sisters, aunt, best friend, and old flame. While on the island she is introduced to Ezra Reinhold, a reclusive billionaire who enjoys poking around in cold cases and has the means to hire the best people to find the answers no one else has been able to. In book 9 in the series, Sydney goes with Emily to visit Beverly in the rehabilitation hospital she has been moved to. While they are there Syd meets a woman suffering from a brain disorder following an injury to the head. The woman is able to speak but what she says seems like nothing but gibberish. While her speech pattern is completely disporganized, she seems alert, so Syd sits with her in the garden while Emily is meeting with Beverly's doctor and politely listens to what she says. The longer Syd sits there the more certain she is that there are patterns contained within the babbling. She begins to ask the woman questions and while the answers are as disorganized as anything the woman has said to that point, Syd begins to suspect that the woman may actually have been a witness to a murder her FBI team had investigated but had been unable to solve.

In book 5 in the series, Arden Haynsworth has been kidnapped after being sentenced to death for her part in the death of the kidnapper's daughter Daisy. Arden insists she's innocent of the crime she's been accused of and is certain she was set up to take the fall. She's been allotted five days' worth of food, water, and air to prove it. If she can prove that she really is innocent of the murder, she'll be set free. If she can't prove her innocence, she'll die. The biggest problem is that she's locked in this room and therefore unable to investigate. She's offered the chance to be linked via live video feed to anyone she chooses. She chooses Ezra. With only five days to prove the woman's innocence or watch her perish, the team jumps into action. Meanwhile, it's Christmas on Shipwreck Island and everyone in Syd's life has gone just a bit Christmas Crazy. Aunt Charley is baking up a storm, Emily is knee deep in preparations for the annual Christmas by the Sea event, Estelle and Esther have parts in the school play, and Logan is helping Ryder with the annual boat parade.

The Lifeguards by Amanda Eyre Ward Pdf

“A book that is at once riveting and relevant as it unpeels the various meanings of motherhood, family, and loyalty. I tore through it.”—Miranda Cowley Heller, author of The Paper Palace The bonds between three picture-perfect—but viciously protective—mothers and their close-knit sons are tested during one unforgettable summer in a gripping novel from the New York Times bestselling author of The Jetsetters. Austin’s Zilker Park neighborhood is a wonderland of greenbelt trails, live music, and moms who drink a few too many margaritas. Whitney, Annette, and Liza have grown thick as thieves as they have raised their children together for fifteen years, believing that they can shelter them their children from an increasingly dangerous world. Their friendship is unbreakable—as safe as the neighborhood where they've raised their sweet little boys. Or so they think. One night, the three women have been enjoying happy hour when their boys, lifeguards for the summer, come back on bicycles from a late-night dip in their favorite swimming hole. The boys share a secret—news that will shatter the perfect world their mothers have so painstakingly created. Combining three mothers’ points of view in a powerful narrative tale with commentary from entertaining neighborhood listservs, secret text messages, and police reports, The Lifeguards is both a story about the secrets we tell to protect the ones we love and a riveting novel of suspense filled with half-truths and betrayals, fierce love and complicated friendships, and the loss of innocence on one hot summer night.
