A Textbook of Theosophy (Classic Reprint) by C. W. Leadbeater Pdf

Excerpt from A Textbook of Theosophy Of those that are yet to come there is also much to be said, and on this subject too a great deal of definite information 1s available. Such information is obtainable, first, from men who have already passed much further along the road of evolution than we, and have consequently direct experience of it; and, secondly, from inferences drawn from the ob vicus direction of the steps which we see to have been previously taken. The goal of this particular cycle, is in sight, though still far above us;-but it would seem that, even when that has been attained, an infinity of progress still lies before everyone who is willing to undertake it. One of the most striking advantages of Theosophy is that the light which it brings to us at once solves many of our problems, clears away many difficulties, accounts for the apparent injustices of life, and in all directions brings order out of seeming chaos. Thus while some of its teaching is based upon the observation of forces whose direct working is some what beyond the ken of the ordinary man of the world, if the latter will accept it as a hypothesis he will very soon come to see that it must be a correct one, because it, and it alone, furnishes a coherent and reasonable explanation of the drama of life which is being played before him. Textbook of Theosophy by Charles Webster Leadbeater,Wynn Wagner Pdf

Theosophy is a technique from the 1600s that showed quite a bit of interest in esoteric circles of the twentieth century. The theosophist seeks to understand the mysteries of the universe and the bonds that unite the universe, humanity and the divine. The goal of theosophy is to explore the origin of divinity and humanity, and the end of world, life and humanity. From investigation of those topics theosophists try to discover a coherent description of the purpose and origin of the universe. We often speak of Theosophy as not in itself a religion, but the truth, which lies behind all religions alike. As a philosophy, it explains to us that the solar system is a carefully - ordered mechanism, a manifestation of a magnificent life, of which man is but a small part. Nevertheless, it takes up that small part, which immediately concerns us, and treats it exhaustively under three heads - present, past and future.

A Textbook of Theosophy by C. W. Leadbeater,Desmond Gahan Pdf

"There is a school of philosophy still in existence of which modern culture has lost sight." In these words Mr. A.P. Sinnett began his book, _The Occult World_, the first popular exposition of Theosophy, published thirty years ago. [Namely in 1881.] During the years that have passed since then, many thousands have learned wisdom in that school, yet to the majority its teachings are still unknown, and they can give only the vaguest of replies to the query, "What is Theosophy?" We often speak of Theosophy as not in itself a religion, but the truth which lies behind all religions alike. That is so; yet, from another point of view, we may surely say that it is at once a philosophy, a religion and a science. It is a philosophy, because it puts plainly before us an explanation of the scheme of evolution of both the souls and the bodies contained in our solar system.

The Secret Doctrine by H.P. Blavatsky,Michael Gomes Pdf

Madame Blavatsky's Victorian-era masterpiece is now scaled down to its essentials, providing the most readable, accessible experience ever of one of history's seminal occult works. The Secret Doctrine, Helena Petrovna Blavatsky's masterwork on the origin and evolution of the universe and humanity itself, is arguably the most famous, and perhaps the most influential, occult book ever written. Published since 1888 only in expensive, two-volume editions of some 1,400 pages, it has long eluded the grasp of modern readers- until now. This single-volume edition, abridged and annotated by historian and Theosophical scholar Michael Gomes, places the ideas of The Secret Doctrine within reach of all who are curious. In particular, Gomes provides a critical sounding of the book's famous stanzas on the genesis of life and the cosmos- mysterious passages that Blavatsky said originated from a primeval source and which form the heart of The Secret Doctrine. Gomes scrupulously scales down the book's key writings on symbolism to their essentials, and offers notes and a glossary to illuminate arcane references. His historical and literary introduction casts new light on some of the book's sources and on the career of its brilliant and elusive author, one of the most intriguing personages of the nineteenth century. At once compact and representative of the work as a whole, this new edition of The Secret Doctrine brings unprecedented accessibility to the key esoteric classic of the modern era.

Theosophy and New Thought (Classic Reprint) by Henry C. Sheldon Pdf

Excerpt from Theosophy and New Thought The double title given to the book is not meant to imply that Theosophy and New Thought are approximately identical. The inclusion of the two in a Single volume is rather a matter of convenience than of logical clas sification. We recognize that, while they have distinct points of similar ity, they also exhibit quite apparent contrasts in Spirit and content. In particular the intemperate speculation and headlong Orientalism of Theosophy are but partially reflected in New Thought. Both, however, make very high claims, and this fact justifies the subjecting of them to close scrutiny. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
