Alien : Diaries 7/8 by H. R. Giger Pdf

HR Giger worked in the Shepperton Studios near London from February to November 1978, creating the figures and sets for the film Alien (1979) directed by Ridley Scott. The film became an international success, earning Giger an Oscar. In the transcribed Alien Diaries, published here for the first time as a facsimile, HR Giger describes his work in the studios. He writes, sketches, and takes photographs with his Polaroid SX70. With brutal honesty, sarcasm and occasional despair, Giger describes what it is like working for the film industry and how he struggles against all odds be it the stinginess of producers or the sluggishness of his staff to see his designs become reality. The Alien Diaries (in German transcription with an English translation) show a little-known personal side of the artist HR Giger and offer an unusual, detailed glimpse into the making of a movie classic through the eyes of a Swiss artist. The book contains almost completely unpublished material, including drawings, Polaroids showing the monster coming to life, and several still shots from the plentiful film material that Giger took in Shepperton.

I'll Keep You Close by Jeska Verstegen Pdf

Jeska doesn't know why her mother keeps the curtains drawn so tightly every day. And what exactly is she trying to drown out when she floods the house with Mozart? What are they hiding from? When Jeska's grandmother accidentally calls her by a stranger's name, she seizes her first clue to uncovering her family's past, and hopefully to all that's gone unsaid. With the help of an old family photo album, her father's encyclopedia collection, and the unquestioning friendship of a stray cat, the silence begins to melt into frightening clarity: Jeska's family survived a terror that they’ve worked hard to keep secret all her life. And somehow, it has both nothing and everything to do with her, all at once. A true story of navigating generational trauma as a child, I'll Keep You Close is about what comes after disaster: how survivors move forward, what they bring with them when they do, and the promise of beginning again while always keeping the past close.

My Alien Self by Amanda Green Pdf

This is a true story everyone should read. 100+ 4*/5* reviews! A roller coaster ride of mental health issues, travel, relationships, rape, adventures, eating disorder, abuse, drugs, alcohol. Adults only. If I told you I'd been to twenty-four Countries (twenty-one by the time I was twenty-two), that I'd worked in Japan for nine months, toured Australia for six months, enjoyed seven months in Thailand and met and campaigned for the Orangutan in Borneo, you might think that I was pretty lucky. If I told you I'd worked in the hotel industry, for a sexual health department in a hospital and with prisoners in a drug cell block of a male prison, that I'd worked as a recruitment consultant, in so many office jobs I've lost count, as well as having my own company and multiple websites, at age thirty-six, then you might think I've had an interesting life. But if I added to that a mix of child rape, mental health problems, promiscuity, drug taking, alcohol abuse, eating disorders, self-harm, violence, mood swings, obsession, jealousy, loss of self worth, being raised by a mentally ill mother, bankruptcy, thyroid and gastro problems and public masturbation in school at age nine, then I am not sure what you'd think. But this is me; Amanda Green. This is my life, my story; my journey back to me from depression, anxiety, panic attacks, OCD and Borderline Personality Disorder - mental illness which manifested during my life and came out 'to it's peak' in my thirties.I was able to use my collection of mementos, photos, diaries, journals, letters, emails and text messages of my past to finally see who I had become, and more importantly with a combination of therapy, medication and my writing, how I became that alien self and how I found the real me.One of many 5* reviews... "I would thoroughly recommend this book not just to those suffering with mental health issues, but to those who would also like a jolly good read!"The editor (Debz Hobbs-Wyatt) adds...This is the journey of a normal working class girl, trapped in a roller coaster world of disorder and excitement, love and joy, depression and anger - and her fight against stigmaWhile My Alien Self would be inspiring for any sufferer, their families or medical teams in its honest insights into living with a mental illness, it also has universal appeal. For who, at times, has not felt their life spin into chaos and wondered what is normal? This story effectively and openly highlights just how fine the line is between what is normal, and what is 'mental illness' And everyone who reads it will be able to relate to it.Contains explicit language and sexual scenesEmergence had this to say ''We very much enjoyed reading this honest and powerful account of Amanda's journey from diagnosis to recovery. We applaud such authentic and candid accounts of the devastation that can be experienced by those living with personality disorder and of the message of hope and recovery that the book conveys.'Bon Dobbs (Anything To Stop The Pain and Author of 'When hope is not enough') said 'While there are many borderline personality disorder memoirs out now (including 'The Buddha and the Borderline', 'Loud House of Myself', 'Get Me Out of Here', 'Girl in Need of a Tourniquet' and 'Poisoned Love'), My Alien Self goes a long way to providing hope to the sufferers of BPD. By publishing the steps taken to reframe certain ways thinking, through CBT worksheets and other exercises, the author has revealed that recovery from BPD is possible.'I self published this book and am very proud of that fact, because I was able to write it exactly as I wanted it to be written, with the help from my fabulous editor, Debz Hobbs-Wyatt. Whilst the massive help a publisher and agent gives, they do narrow down what is published, so I took on the journey to publish it and market it myself. There's a sequel out too, called '39'. It's quite different, but it leads on from this one :-)

The Diaries and Recollections of an Alien Abductee by Hilary Porter Pdf

Hi, my name is Hilary Porter. I am vice chairman of B.E.A.M.S. - The British Earth and Aerial Mystery Society. In addition, I also provide a free Counseling service... having helped experiencers of the UFO and Alien phenomenon for at least 20 years. As far as I'm aware, no publication in our field of study holds ALL the necessary answers; truth be told, many volumes contain but a mere handful; however, I am confident that in my book, you will find more in the way of relevant, honest information, than any other work of its type.Hopefully, this will be appreciated by the more open-minded, unprejudiced thinker; those of us who are able to distinguish REAL pearls from synthetic... RESTRICTED knowledge from fake news.My writings address a host of hitherto unanswered questions about alien visitation - and provide a good deal of understanding about what it all means; thanks mainly to the 'greys'; these entities have shown me, (through some very bold methods of teaching), what I consider to be, the closest thing to smoking gun evidence, as anyone may ever get in this subject."The truth is this, rather than them being the manufactured product of some 'secret government/military concern' ... 'bio-robots', or any other nonsense we are being fed about them... the greys are multidimensional aliens... and they can freely pass through solid matter rather like ghosts; how else do you think they can get into people's bedrooms to abduct their victims, totally unseen by any other witnesses?"Along the way, I have learned some amazing things about their enigmatic realms, and their often, perplexing means of operation; but even with me, there were obvious limitations to what I was allowed to see; the suggestion is, having too much proof and awareness concerning the astral origins of our alien cousins, (who are possibly the creators of humankind), could be extremely dangerous for any of us; and so, keeping certain things secret may well be for our own good. The Diaries and Recollections of an Alien Abductee follow my numerous close encounters over the decades... along with those of other witnesses, all recorded in meticulous detail; it also comes complete with 29 very important links to some scarce documents, dossiers, sketches, video and photos. This book will surprise many; it is totally unlike anything ever published before!

The Mosquito Brothers by Griffin Ondaatje Pdf

Accompanied by quirky line drawings by Spanish illustrator Erica Salcedo, this is a gently humorous and remarkably informative nature-adventure story about an unlikely pointy-nosed hero with big dreams and an even bigger heart. After he nearly drowns in a parking-lot puddle, Dinnn Needles is fearful of many things, including flying. When his four hundred siblings swarm off without him, he finds time to dream —about family stories, a lost brother, adventure in The Wild and, above all, how to be cool. At school in an abandoned air-conditioner, Dinnn learns about the deadly Pondhawk dragonfly and other dangers that lie beyond his home under a drive-in theater screen. But Dinnn never really takes to city life. Lonely and left out, he is filled with an unexplained longing. He sips spilled cola from abandoned pop cans, but it is not as tasty as flower nectar. He tries to make friends with the local street mosquitoes, but that just lands him in a sewer filled with spiders and water snakes. He hears about the red mini-van that brought his parents together and wonders about his extended family in the country. He even finds a great black jacket in a roadside ditch, but it doesn’t make him cool. And then one day, as fate would have it, the red mini-van reappears, giving Dinnn a chance to visit to his relatives in The Wild, where new perils await an inexperienced city mosquito — being struck by a raindrop, zapped by a porch light or snapped up by a hungry fish at dusk. But in the end Dinnn discovers that being cool is a matter of what you do, especially for one’s friends and family, including two new brothers. The Great Googlini by Sara Cassidy Pdf

Filip, the ten-year-old son of Croatian immigrants, lives in a boring suburb of the big city, where he passes his time either at school or in his cozy kitchen, googling everything from dinosaurs to the Hubble Space Telescope. When his favorite uncle gets sick, Filip turns to Google for answers. Instead he receives a visit from the Great Googlini, a tiny woman in Converse sneakers who swirls out of the computer vents. She's not really a genie, she explains: "I'm more of an archivist." Her visit is a little bit of magic that lets Filip see the magic all around him. Ultimately about the things we can know and the things we can't, this is a smart, touching, funny chapter book about growing up, braving tough times and looking for answers.
