Damselfly by Chandra Prasad Pdf

After crash-landing on a deserted tropical island, a group of private-school teens must rely on their wits and one another to survive. Their survival is in their own hands . . . Samantha Mishra opens her eyes and discovers she’s alone and injured in the thick of a jungle. She has no idea where she is, or what happened to the plane taking her and the rest of the Drake Rosemont fencing team across the Pacific for a tournament. Once Sam connects with her best friend, Mel, and they find the others, they set up shelter and hope for rescue. But as the days pass, the teens realize they're on their own, stranded on an island with a mysterious presence that taunts and threatens them. Soon Sam and her companions discover they need to survive more than the jungle . . . they need to survive each other. This taut novel, with a setting evocative of Lord of the Flies, is by turns cinematic and intimate, and always thought-provoking. Praise for Damselfly “Prasad’s [YA] debut is a compelling modern-day adventure . . . An entertaining choice.” —School Library Journal “Ethics balance on a knife’s edge as the characters make difficult choices and adapt to their new reality . . . A compulsive read.” —Booklist “Who are we when we are only accountable to ourselves? This bold, deft novel exposes how fragile the world we inhabit really is and what it might take for us to survive.” —Neela Vaswani, co-author of Same Sun Here “Prasad breathes fresh life into this fusion of Lost, Prep, Gossip Girl, and William Golding’s classic.” —Jake Halpern, author of Fame Junkies and Dormia

Adventures in Order and Chaos by George Contopoulos Pdf

For many years I was organizing a weekly seminar on dynamical astronomy, and I used to make some historical remarks on every subject, including some anecdotes from my contacts with many leading scientists over the years. I described also the development of various subjects and the emergence of new ideasindynamicalastronomy. Thenseveralpeoplepromptedmetowritedown these remarks, which cannot be found in papers, or books. Thus, I decided to write this book, which contains my experiences over the years. I hope that this book may be helpful to astronomy students all over the world. During my many years of teaching, as a visiting professor, in American Universities (1962-1994, Yale, Harvard, MIT, Cornell, Chicago, Maryland and Florida) I was impressed by the quality of my graduate students. Most of them were very bright, asking penetrating questions, and preparing their homework in a perfect way. In a few cases, instead of a ?nal examination, I assigned to them some small research projects and they presented their results at the end of the course. They were excellent in preparing the appropriate slides and in presenting their results in a concise and clear way.

Chandra and Tara: Genesis of Chandravansh by H. S. Singh Pdf

This stunning epic-like fiction book covers a story of Chandra and Tara, whose descendants ruled India. Buddha, the son of Chandra and Tara, was a progenitor of Chandravanshi kings. Except for a few, most of the kings mentioned in the oldest book, Rigveda were their descendants. The story of Tarawife of Brihaspati who eloped with Chandra and conceived his seed to produce progenitor of Chandravansh, who ruled India for thousands of yearsis interesting to the readers. Pururava, son of Buddha and Ila and the first Chandravanshi, emerged as the most powerful king at Pratisthan who protected Devas from Asuras. This is a story of courage, adventure, and the bravery of Vaivaswat Manuthe creator of Aryavart, giver of social and religious lawsthe Manusmriti, and his journey to establish the kingdoms of the Aryans to spread the Vedic culture. The authors pure intention is to present an image of prehistory in a form of a fictional story. The Puranic facts are not distorted, but the gaps are logically dramatized so that the readers develop an imagination of a branch of the Aryans world that existed after the great flood.

Chandra by Kameshwar C. Wali Pdf

Chandra is an intimate portrait of a highly private and brilliant man, Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar, a Nobel laureate in physics who has been a major contributor to the theories of white dwarfs and black holes. "Wali has given us a magnificent portrait of Chandra, full of life and color, with a deep understanding of the three cultures—Indian, British, and American—in which Chandra was successively immersed. . . . I wish I had the job of reviewing this book for the New York Times rather than for Physics Today. If the book is only read by physicists, then Wali's devoted labors were in vain."—Freeman Dyson, Physics Today "An enthralling human document."—William McCrea, Times Higher Education Supplement "A dramatic, exuberant biography of one of the century's great scientists."—Publishers Weekly

Adventures in Graph Theory by W. David Joyner,Caroline Grant Melles Pdf

This textbook acts as a pathway to higher mathematics by seeking and illuminating the connections between graph theory and diverse fields of mathematics, such as calculus on manifolds, group theory, algebraic curves, Fourier analysis, cryptography and other areas of combinatorics. An overview of graph theory definitions and polynomial invariants for graphs prepares the reader for the subsequent dive into the applications of graph theory. To pique the reader’s interest in areas of possible exploration, recent results in mathematics appear throughout the book, accompanied with examples of related graphs, how they arise, and what their valuable uses are. The consequences of graph theory covered by the authors are complicated and far-reaching, so topics are always exhibited in a user-friendly manner with copious graphs, exercises, and Sage code for the computation of equations. Samples of the book’s source code can be found at github.com/springer-math/adventures-in-graph-theory. The text is geared towards advanced undergraduate and graduate students and is particularly useful for those trying to decide what type of problem to tackle for their dissertation. This book can also serve as a reference for anyone interested in exploring how they can apply graph theory to other parts of mathematics.

Revised Chronology of the Bible by Anthony Lyle Pdf

This book is a culmination of that research. After trashing his work 10 times and starting over, he managed to get a revised chronology that seemed to be more accurate than that being put out by the status quo universities. It combines secular / world history with Biblical history in a far more even and smoother match than that proposed by former historians who have attempted the same. This is his version 12, which doesn’t try to match different histories based on dates, but rather by matching people and events and then applying revised dates to those events and people. This work will call into question the conclusions of historians of the last 200 years, about the ancient periods of time, and provide an alternative dating for those times. It is a World History in that it incorporates the ancient history of India, China, Japan, as well as the traditional Middle Eastern and European societies of ancient times. It re-evaluates the beginnings of civilization and the solar system, refuting common historical and scientific beliefs of the modern world. Documents that have previously been written off as Mythology have been re-evaluated as well, as they give a different perspective of ancient times and what happened back then. The use and creation of calendars is an important feature added to this work which is seldom taken into account by modern histories. Incorporated in this work are many of the more recent archaeological finds that have yet to be incorporated in status quo works and institutions. He makes no apology for the fact that this is Biblically based, and the conclusions that have been reached by this work fit very well in Biblical contexts and adds some understanding to the events that took place in the Biblical narratives.
