Whatever happened to Charters and Caldicott, that pair of cricket-mad 'solemn asses' from Alfred Hitchcock's classic suspense movie The Lady Vanishes? Fast forward about fifty years. The world has changed beyond recognition, but not Charters and Caldicott.
