Entering the Passion of Jesus by Amy-Jill Levine Pdf

Jesus’ final days were full of risk. Every move he made was filled with anticipation, danger, and the potential for great loss or great reward. Jesus risked his reputation when he entered Jerusalem in a victory parade. He risked his life when he dared to teach in the Temple. Jesus and Myth by Peter John Barber Pdf

Is Jesus mythological? And is he a mere product of his cultural milieu? Through narratological and social-scientific analysis of the gospel account, Barber systematically demonstrates that there are two opposing patterns structuring the gospel. The first is the pattern of this world, which is the combat myth, with a typical sequence of motifs having mythological meanings. It is lived out by everyone else in the accounts except Jesus, because this pattern of the world is the pattern of myth-culture, which is the pattern of the old Adam and sin nature. The pattern of Jesus is the pattern intended for Adam to walk in, and is the unique pattern of the new Adam, Jesus Christ. Jesus's pattern inverts the sequence and subverts the significance of each and every motif and episode of the myth-culture's pattern. Barber shows that Jesus's "failure" to conform to this world's mythological pattern establishes that he is not mythological, and not a product of his culture. As the apostle Peter states, ". . . we did not follow cleverly devised tales [myths] when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty" (2 Pet 1:16).

Stop Asking Jesus Into Your Heart by J. D. Greear Pdf

“If there were a Guinness Book of World Records entry for ‘amount of times having prayed the sinner’s prayer,’ I’m pretty sure I’d be a top contender,” says pastor and author J. D. Greear. He struggled for many years to gain an assurance of salvation and eventually learned he was not alone. “Lack of assurance” is epidemic among evangelical Christians. In Stop Asking Jesus Into Your Heart, J. D. shows that faulty ways of present- ing the gospel are a leading source of the confusion. Our presentations may not be heretical, but they are sometimes misleading. The idea of “asking Jesus into your heart” or “giving your life to Jesus” often gives false assurance to those who are not saved—and keeps those who genuinely are saved from fully embracing that reality. Greear unpacks the doctrine of assurance, showing that salvation is a posture we take to the promise of God in Christ, a posture that begins at a certain point and is maintained for the rest of our lives. He also answers the tough questions about assurance: What exactly is faith? What is repentance? Why are there so many warnings that seem to imply we can lose our salvation? Such issues are handled with respect to the theological rigors they require, but Greear never loses his pastoral sensitivity or a communication technique that makes this message teachable to a wide audience from teens to adults.

Jesus Christ in Love by Antony Theodore Pdf

Antony Theodore has written thousands of wonderful poems on spirituality and love. This book contains two hundred of his select poems on the life and teaching of Jesus Christ. The poems make several references to the Veda, Upanishad, Gita and other scriptures also. The poems are arranged in seven parts covering Miracle of Birth, Word of God, Mystery of Love, Voyage of Life, Temptation of Flesh, Final Cross and The After Life. Many of the poems dwell on the intimacy of human love as expressed through sexual attraction between man and woman. For the poet marriage is the sacred union of two souls on the path of God realisation. The covenant of marriage is a promise before God for lifelong devotion, and its breach is a terrible sin signalling fall of man. Romantic attraction prepares the human heart for ultimate God communion. Supreme God has split Himself into Man and Woman for cosmic play of creation. By seeing one's mirror image in one another, a couple in love can retrace their path back to the divine origin. The poems provide a penetrative new interpretation of the universal truths underlying Christ's sermons. It shows that the truth contained in the Holy Gospel is essentially the same truth as expounded in the scriptures of all world religions. The One Truth has been expressed differently through Veda, Bible, Gita and Quran. The book has been edited by Dr Tapan Kumar Pradhan, who has also written its foreword and introduction. The book makes a startling revelation about Antony Theodore's extraordinary relationship with the mystic Kashmir poet scholar Hemangi Sharma. Dr Tapan hints at a definite past life relationship with Hemangi Sharma / Antony Theodore.

Mohammad Fawzi saw the need to do something, and this book is the first of many he is working on in hope he may be able to correct the mistakes done today from all the beliefs, he will also deal with the darkness of the Atheists. In a world full with darkness and evil done against the LORD, the need for those who have the truth is increasing, not the false truth some claim to have, but the genuine truth that is supported with solid proofs and convincing evidence. Following Jesus by Blake Ferriss Pdf

Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” John 8:12, NLT Following Jesus: An Approach to Christian Spirituality provides a basis for understanding how the Lordship of Christ is the essential criterion for determining how Christianity functions as a relational experience with God. With that relational experience, for the believer in Christ, being the product of supernatural experience with the Holy Spirit. The book functions as an organizing tool to be used for a conscientious inquiry into how a Christian worldview operates in four relational categories of experience. With these relational categories act as a basis for understanding how our choices affect our lives, and our futures, both now and in life, and eternally, and how it is that God loves us and will give our lives the meaning and purpose that we all long for.
