I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die by Sarah J. Robinson Pdf

A compassionate, shame-free guide for your darkest days “A one-of-a-kind book . . . to read for yourself or give to a struggling friend or loved one without the fear that depression and suicidal thoughts will be minimized, medicalized or over-spiritualized.”—Kay Warren, cofounder of Saddleback Church What happens when loving Jesus doesn’t cure you of depression, anxiety, or suicidal thoughts? You might be crushed by shame over your mental illness, only to be told by well-meaning Christians to “choose joy” and “pray more.” So you beg God to take away the pain, but nothing eases the ache inside. As darkness lingers and color drains from your world, you’re left wondering if God has abandoned you. You just want a way out. But there’s hope. In I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die, Sarah J. Robinson offers a healthy, practical, and shame-free guide for Christians struggling with mental illness. With unflinching honesty, Sarah shares her story of battling depression and fighting to stay alive despite toxic theology that made her afraid to seek help outside the church. Pairing her own story with scriptural insights, mental health research, and simple practices, Sarah helps you reconnect with the God who is present in our deepest anguish and discover that you are worth everything it takes to get better. Beautifully written and full of hard-won wisdom, I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die offers a path toward a rich, hope-filled life in Christ, even when healing doesn’t look like what you expect.

When God Remains by Teodosia Rivera Pdf

This book is about how God’s faithfulness in keeping His promises sometimes can unleash the most painful experience a Christian parent can endure. This is true when God speaks softly to your heart saying He will take a son from you. Struggling as any adolescent does during puberty and self-discovery, her son Danny entangles himself in the life of homosexuality. As a mom does not accept such deviant behavior and engages in spiritual warfare for the sake of her son. Deep in her sorrows of experiencing loss, after loss in her relationship with her son, the author holds desperately to God for fresh nourishing in His presence along the way. Danny survives suicide attempts. The parents survive the unbearable sight of watching their son hurt himself in their presence while cutting himself in a desperate attempt to “silence” the demons in his head as he said while doing it. God is honored throughout this book. The individuals who are part of this story are respected and admired for their courage and undeniable faith in a Creator and Designer.

Must God Remain Greek? by Robert Earl Hood Pdf

"Must God Remain Greek? brings together, in a fascinating and readable way, the cultural and religious thought and activities of African peoples, Caribbeans, and Afro-Americans to bear upon Christian theology. As a scholar Dr. Hood is at home in the three regions, as well as in the Western Christian tradition. He raises fundamental questions for theology, which have tremendous consequences in the present day of Christian expansion and ecumenical movement.... It is refreshing to see an old problem recast in cultural areas where Christianity is throbbing and thriving."? John S. Mbiti

...God's Still Calling... by James R Needham Pdf

his book is the life journey of a seventy-nine-year-old man who was asked by his grandchildren, “What did you do before you met Grandma?” He pondered the thought, intrigued by the question, and answered that he had done a thing or two they might be interested in: produced television programs, helped produce The Joy of Painting programs with Bob Ross, worked for President Nixon on a special project and with the woman who edited the original Jaws movie. When they sat there, eating dessert after Thanksgiving that day in 2017, their eyes rapt with attention, he fleshed out the stories a bit to see if they really were interested. They seemed to be, so he asked them, “If I wrote it down, would you read it?” “Oh yes, Grandpa,” they urged him. “Would you do that for us?” And that became the odyssey that is now this book. Grandpa Jim has been on television most of his life, tested his parents’ limits as a small child, fought with a skunk and lost, nearly lost his life several times by refusing to be an obedient child and driving too long multiple times when he was tired and going off the road. And as a nine-year-old, Jim and a friend dug a cave in a clay and sand field beside the Chicago and Eastern Illinois Railroad, switching yard near Chicago, where one day, the cave collapsed. Now, every time he sees his grandchildren, their plaintive cry is, “Are you finished with the book yet, Grandpa?” Fortunately, he lived to tell the cave-in story. But his misbehavior isn’t the focus. His off-again, on-again journey with God is the story, with many adventures and misadventures along the way. As an adult who has recommitted his life to Christ, Jim has been a Young Life Leader, an Adult Sunday School teacher, a Mission Committee Chair, Mission Team Leader, television producer, talk-show host, mentor, and Teacher of the Year for the TCOM—now MEDIA Department at a Major University. Most of all, for over forty-seven years, he has been learning to see God’s fingerprints wherever he goes, and you will too. It is an adventure worth joining and one you will never, ever forget.

And God Still Stops the Rain by Edgar Nazario Pdf

The conclusion of all man's efforts to describe life, are in the words of Solomon… vain. We can give a description of feeling but the description has no happiness, sadness, or fear. It has no courage, no anger ,and no despair. Our description does not feel at all. Feeling can only grow and live in the heart of man and God. So come with me on a journey that begins in the shadow of my memories and will end in the Son's light. The bits and pieces of my life that together form who I am and what God has designed that I am to be. You may find yourself in many parts of my story, perhaps we have more in common than we know, for God is the same God for me that He is for you. God touched me and wants to touch you…

God Kept Me through it All by Eugene Moseley Pdf

This book is about an all-American golden boy—a preacher’s kid, a youth minister, and an extremely gifted basketball player. He never drank or smoked and remained celibate until he got married. On his way to college, he was hit by a drunk driver, which, in turn, ruined his basketball career. While he was able to forgive the driver, he began a backslide. He started snorting cocaine and basically lead a double life. Regretfully, he was involved in a tragic car accident, killing his only daughter and some passengers in the car that he had struck: a pregnant woman and her unborn baby, leaving her only son motherless. While in prison, Eugene had two failed suicide attempts and begged the judge to give him the death penalty, but God had another plan for this man’s life. Like Job in the Bible, he had lost and suffered a lot. Everyone hated him, and some wanted to kill him. He prayed without ceasing, and God answered his prayers. All those who hated him came to his sentencing and spoke on his behalf. Then, like in Job 4:10, God made him more prosperous and gave him twice as much as he’d had before. God sent him to theology college, where he received his master’s degree and again began mentoring kids. He became the pastor of a church, an evangelist, and a missionary who traveled the world doing God’s will.

God Still Matters by Herbert McCabe Pdf

Herbert McCabe, who died in 2001, was one of the most intelligent Roman Catholic thinkers of the twentieth century. An influence on philosophers such as Anthony Kenny and Alasdair MacIntyre he was also befriended by poets and literary critics such as Seamus Heaney and Terry Eagleton. Equally at home in philosophy and theology, he despised jargon and intellectual posturing as a substitute for reason and argument. At the time of his death, he left a wealth of unpublished material- so outstanding in its quality and originality that it is surprising that it was never published in book form. This is now put to rights. In God Still Matters we have the chance to read McCabe on the topics that interested him most - philosophy of God, Christology, Fundamental theology, Sacramental theology and ethics. No-one who reads this volume will doubt that McCabe was one of the outstanding Christian thinkers of his generation and the epitome of Dominican intellectual openness and rigour.

How well do you know His story? By the time a Christian reaches young adulthood, he is likely to be quite familiar with every major story in the Bible, but not from having studied them in any particular order. Ask an average Bible student to arrange certain characters and events chronologically, and the results are telling. Telling God’s Story looks closely at the Bible from its beginning in Genesis to its conclusion in Revelation. By approaching Scripture as one purposefully flowing narrative, emphasizing the inter-connectedness of the text, veteran college professors Preben Vang and Terry G. Carter reinforce the Bible’s greatest teachings and help readers in their own ability to share God’s story effectively with others. Ideal for classroom settings, this second edition of Telling God's Story now features all supporting charts, photographs, and illustrations in full color!
