The Knights of Freedom by Ben Reinhart Pdf

Three years ago, secret service agent Jason Williams, while working on special assignment for the President of the United States, uncovered and exposed a deadly and subversive political group within the U.S. known as The Knights of Freedom. Fearing for his life and those of his family, he and his ex-wife Christine faked their death's and went into exile inside Cuba. Betrayed by a family member, The Knights of Freedom discovered that he was still alive and retaliated against him in an act of ungodly vengeance. With Jason out of the way, The Knights of Freedom were free to create a new union of southern states intent on reclaiming the ideals of the original South. Unknown to the KOF, the New Muslim World Order (NMWO) was buried deep within their organization, ready to establish their own Caliphate within the borders of the United States. Can Jason recover from the depths of hell, and put an end to these subversive groups bent on destroying our nation as we know it? Will his loyalty and friendships cloud his judgment as he decides who will live and who will die? Is he willing to trade his life to save someone close to him?

The King Maker by Ben Reinhart Pdf

Twenty-one years ago, the world was stunned by a terrorist attack at the World Trade Center in New York City. An attack that resulted in almost 3,000 deaths. Now the world is horrified again, as another terrorist attack has occurred, this time in South Florida, with a death toll far beyond what happened on 9/11. Opponents of the current President, Bill McPherson, are painting a picture of him as indecisive and weak when it comes to terrorism. Not feeling comfortable with his intelligence agencies, the President calls upon his longtime friend and current secret service agent, Jason Williams, to help identify who is to blame for this attack on the American people. What Jason uncovers is an unexpected relationship between the Cuban Government and the Syrian New Muslim World Order. And, the existence of a subversive group within our nation's capital that plans to take over our government. This group will stop at nothing to remove any road block jeopardizing their goal, and Jason is clearly the biggest obstacle in their way. As he tries to press the "re-do" button on his failed marriage and bring his family back together again, he puts his life and the lives of his family in eminent danger. Now, Jason must find a way to balance his loyalty to the President, his country, and most importantly, his family.

Knights in Training by Heather Haupt Pdf

Bringing chivalry back into our modern-day world, this book shows us how to inspire today's generation of young boys to pursue honor, courage, and compassion. In an age when respect and honor seem like distant and antiquated relics, how can we equip boys to pursue valor and courageously put the needs of others before their own? This book helps parents to inspire their boys by captivating their imagination and honoring their love for adventure. Heather Haupt explores how knights historically lived out various aspects of the knights' Code of Chivalry, as depicted in the French epic Song of Roland, and how boys can embody these same ideals now. When we issue the challenge and give boys the reasons why it is worth pursuing, we step forward on an incredible journey towards raising the kind of boys who, just like the knights of old, make an impact in their world now and for the rest of their lives.

The Knights of Columbus by Andrew T. Walther,Patrick Korten Pdf

On October 2, 1881, a small group of men met in the basement of a church in New Haven, Connecticut. Gathered together by their priest, Father Michael J. McGivney, they formed a fraternal society called the Knights of Columbus in honor of the Catholic explorer who had brought Christianity to the New World. Originally conceived as a mutual aid society, the Knights of Columbus was dedicated to helping Catholic families in need— people in the community who, in many cases, were excluded from unions and other organizations that provided social services to so many others. The members also vowed to be defenders of their nation and their faith. Well over a century later, the Knights of Columbus is going strong and, with over 1.8 million members, it has extended its reach to embrace people around the world. Through fascinating text and photographs, The Knights of Columbus: An Illustrated History tells the story of an organization that, through war and peace, has remained “the strong right arm of the Church,” bringing help and hope to people everywhere.

These Liberties We Hold Sacred by Carl Anderson Pdf

Early in this nation’s history, America was populated by many different faith-based communities, each in search of a place to practice its religion. Initially, there was conflict, but by the time our Founding Fathers were ready to establish an independent nation, the idea of religious tolerance had become deeply ingrained in this brave new country’s design. So much so that when the United States Constitution was ratified, it contained a document known as The Bill of Rights—ten amendments detailing the rights of this country’s citizens. And the very First Amendment states,“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. . . .” Here lies the foundation of the principle for the separation of state and religion. Over the past few decades, however, the power of the state has usurped a growing number of rights clearly ascribed to those who wish to practice their faith. This has certainly not gone unnoticed by many religious organizations. As the supreme knight of the Knights of Columbus, Carl Anderson has taken an active role in highlighting—and protecting against–this ever-growing governmental infringement over fundamental religious freedom. Here in his latest book, These Liberties We Hold Sacred, New York Times best-selling author Carl Anderson has gathered together many of his most thought-provoking speeches, articles, and essays that lay bare the facts of this unjustified restriction of religious beliefs. The power of his words makes it clear that if nothing is done now, there will continue to be more erosion of these special freedoms set forth by our Founding Fathers. Carl Anderson has a gift for writing eloquently, understandably, and directly. His book These Liberties We Hold Sacred is a call to action to first understand what is happening to our religious and personal freedoms and then do all we can to hold on to these precious rights before more of them slip away.

Knights of Faith and Resignation by Edward F. Mooney Pdf

Knights of Faith and Resignation brings out the richness of Kierkegaard's creative invention, the contemporary relevance of his contrasts between resignation and faith, and his probing conceptual analysis of aesthetic, moral, and religious psychology and life-perspectives. And in tracing Kierkegaard's analysis of objectivity, subjectivity, virtue ethics, passion, dilemmas, commitment, and self-reflection, Mooney brings out a striking convergence between Kierkegaard and analytic philosophy -- the tradition of Socrates, Kant, and Wittgenstein, and its more contemporary practitioners, writers like Charles Taylor, Thomas Nagel, Stanley Cavell, Bernard Williams, and Harry Frankfurt.

Degrees of Freedom by Rebecca J. Scott Pdf

As Louisiana and Cuba emerged from slavery in the late nineteenth century, each faced the question of what rights former slaves could claim. Degrees of Freedom compares and contrasts these two societies in which slavery was destroyed by war, and citizenship was redefined through social and political upheaval. Both Louisiana and Cuba were rich in sugar plantations that depended on an enslaved labor force. After abolition, on both sides of the Gulf of Mexico, ordinary people--cane cutters and cigar workers, laundresses and labor organizers--forged alliances to protect and expand the freedoms they had won. But by the beginning of the twentieth century, Louisiana and Cuba diverged sharply in the meanings attributed to race and color in public life, and in the boundaries placed on citizenship. Louisiana had taken the path of disenfranchisement and state-mandated racial segregation; Cuba had enacted universal manhood suffrage and had seen the emergence of a transracial conception of the nation. What might explain these differences? Moving through the cane fields, small farms, and cities of Louisiana and Cuba, Rebecca Scott skillfully observes the people, places, legislation, and leadership that shaped how these societies adjusted to the abolition of slavery. The two distinctive worlds also come together, as Cuban exiles take refuge in New Orleans in the 1880s, and black soldiers from Louisiana garrison small towns in eastern Cuba during the 1899 U.S. military occupation. Crafting her narrative from the words and deeds of the actors themselves, Scott brings to life the historical drama of race and citizenship in postemancipation societies.

Freedom Without Violence by Dustin Ells Howes Pdf

There is a long tradition in Western political thought suggesting that violence is necessary to defend freedom. But nonviolence and civil disobedience have played an equally long and critical role in establishing democratic institutions. Freedom Without Violence explores the long history of political practice and thought that connects freedom to violence in the West, from Athenian democracy and the Roman republic to the Age of Revolutions and the rise of totalitarianism. It is the first comprehensive examination of the idea that violence is necessary to obtain, defend, and exercise freedom. The book also brings to the fore the opposing theme of nonviolent freedom, which can be found both within the Western tradition and among critics of that tradition. Since the plebs first vacated Rome to refuse military service and win concessions from the patricians in 494 B.C., nonviolence and civil disobedience have played a critical role in republics and democracies. Abolitionists, feminists and anti-colonial activists all adopted and innovated the methods of nonviolence. With the advent of the Velvet Revolutions, the end of apartheid in South Africa and, most recently, the Arab Spring, nonviolence has garnered renewed interest in both scholarly publications and the popular imagination. In this book, Dustin Ells Howes traces the intellectual history of freedom as it relates to the concepts and practices of violence and nonviolence. Through a critique and reappraisal of the Western political tradition, Freedom Without Violence constructs a conception of nonviolent freedom. The book argues that cultivating and practicing this brand of freedom is the sine qua non of a vibrant democracy that resists authoritarianism, imperialism and oligarchy.

FLAMES OF FREEDOM Grim & Perilous RPG by Richard Iorio,Daniel D. Fox Pdf

FLAMES OF FREEDOM is an American Gothic horror tabletop role-playing game, based on the award-winning ZWEIHÄNDER RPG. It is the dawn of the American Revolutionary War of 1776. A tangled web of conspiracy spans North America. It does not matter what your creed, color, culture, faith or gender is—all stand together in the war for survival. Every Rebel patriot holds Thomas Paine’s Common Sense aloft as they take up arms against the British Empire. The city of Boston is occupied by the Red Coats, surrounded by Rebel militias. But as the revolution has begun, something far more mysterious stirs. Agents of the occult entreat both the Continental Army and British Empire. Freemasons conspire in the City of Brotherly Love. Maryland is in the throes of a witch hunt by the Knights Templar. Amid the chaos, other grim fairy tales have emerged. Ghouls have been tunneling beneath Boston. There are sightings of witches in the Great Dismal Swamp. Indigenous sachem speak of devils who walk among the living. The Leeds Devil haunts the Pine Barrens of New Jersey. And worse still, a shadowy collective called “The Mandoag” seeks to consume all, Loyalists and Rebels alike. In this game, most people have either chosen to deny the supernatural or rationalize it away. A rare few accept it for what it is to act. You are among those heroes and destined for greatness… or death. This alternative history game includes most of what you need to play: a player’s handbook, a game master’s guide, a bestiary, and an introductory adventure set in Boston. All that’s left are a few friends, pencils and a handful of dice. FLAMES OF FREEDOM is an American Gothic horror tabletop role-playing game, based on the award-winning ZWEIHÄNDER RPG.
