Angewandte Kriminologie – Justizbezogene Forschung by Axel Dessecker,Stefan Harrendorf,Katrin Höffler Pdf

On 22 June 2018 the 12th Colloquium on Criminal Law and Justice took place in Göttingen, followed by a farewell symposium for Jörg-Martin Jehle on the next day. In the same year, Jörg-Martin Jehle retired after 22 years of work at the Georg August University of Göttingen. This event coincided with the 50th anniversary of criminology in Göttingen, the topic of the 12th Colloquium. This book is based on these occasions, but also contains some additional articles in honor of Jörg-Martin Jehle from close companions, who for different reasons were not able to participate in the two events. This volume comprises articles on the history of criminological research at Göttingen University and on the topics of custodial sanctions, offender research, sentencing effects, penal law reform as well as historical and international perspectives. All the papers are related to the research work of Jörg-Martin Jehle.

Criminological Research Trends in Western Germany by G. Kaiser,T. Würtenberger Pdf

The articles in this volume were originally reports conceived as Germany's contribution to the 6th International Congress of Criminology in Madrid. Impressions gained at this world congress, prompted our decision to make these papers available in the English language. In this way we hope to make accessible to an international audience the most recent reflections, approaches and research findings of criminologists in the Federal Republic of Germany. We are adding to this collection a bibliography listing all criminological It seems to us monographs published in German within the last five years. that a systematic survey of the literature is highly suitable for completing the picture outlined in the various articles. This should provide some idea of the focal points and tendencies of the present thinking and of the efforts at institutionalization in German criminology. Last but not least, this col lection may help to revise the opinion that criminology in the German speaking world is still largely biologically oriented. The editors are aware of the scholarly and editorial risks connected with the publication of such a volume. Nevertheless they believe that these risks have to be faced in order to provide information about the present crimino logical thinking in the Federal Republic of Germany and to illustrate its close links with the international scene. We hope that this book will be accepted by the international public as a contribution to a "comparative criminology". Should this venture find an interested audience, similar volumes could follow in regular intervals.

Police Research in the Federal Republic of Germany by Roland V. Clarke,Edwin Kube,Hans U. Störzer Pdf

In 1973, the central office of the German police, the Federal Criminal Police Office, was legally obliged "to maintain the necessary facilities for...research in forensic science", "to monitor crime trends and compile analytical reports and statistics on this basis", and "to conduct research with a view to developing police methods and procedures for crime control". This task is undertaken in the Research and Training Institute by the research units on criminology and criminal investigation and on technological development. In this volume, researchers from the Institute present their latest projects as well as report on the activities undertaken since 1973. This gives you a comprehensive picture of their wide-ranging work. They also examine the role that specialized police research plays for crime policy-makers, detectives and criminologists. A list of publications from the Federal Criminal Police Office completes the book.
