Precalculus by David Lippman,Melonie Rasmussen Pdf

This is an open textbook covering a two-quarter pre-calculus sequence including trigonometry. The first portion of the book is an investigation of functions, exploring the graphical behavior of, interpretation of, and solutions to problems involving linear, polynomial, rational, exponential, and logarithmic functions. The second portion of the book introduces trigonometry, introduced through an integrated circle/triangle approach. Identities are introduced in the first chapter, and revisited throughout. Likewise, solving is introduced in the second chapter and revisited more extensively in the third chapter. An emphasis is placed on modeling and interpretation, as well as the important characteristics needed in calculus.

Mathematics across the Iron Curtain by Christopher Hollings Pdf

The theory of semigroups is a relatively young branch of mathematics, with most of the major results having appeared after the Second World War. This book describes the evolution of (algebraic) semigroup theory from its earliest origins to the establishment of a full-fledged theory. Semigroup theory might be termed `Cold War mathematics' because of the time during which it developed. There were thriving schools on both sides of the Iron Curtain, although the two sides were not always able to communicate with each other, or even gain access to the other's publications. A major theme of this book is the comparison of the approaches to the subject of mathematicians in East and West, and the study of the extent to which contact between the two sides was possible.

Understanding the Transformation of Germany’s CDU by Simon Green,Ed Turner Pdf

This book analyses the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU), one of Europe’s most successful and influential political parties. The CDU might have been expected to struggle in the circumstances of a more diverse, secular reunified Germany, yet it has prospered to an extent almost unparalleled in western Europe. Chapters consider the CDU’s policies (the factors driving them, their variation across Germany, the relationship to women, and the welfare state), its organisational development and change, and its position within the party system. Contributors particularly emphasise the diversity of the CDU, and the way it varies across Germany’s regions. The CDU is compared to other Christian Democratic parties, and special consideration is given to the CDU’s Bavarian sister party, the Christian Social Union (CSU). This book was published as a special issue of German Politics.

Digital Transformation Demystified by Frank Granito Pdf

The buzz and hype created over the last few years around Digital Transformation has resulted in confusion and ubiquity that has rendered the term nearly meaningless. Transformation extends far beyond the technology stack and must include the organization's culture, its operating processes, and virtually every facet of how it functions. This fact means that leaders must break through the hype and demystify this term once and for all. They must get past the breathless hyperbole and understand what it really means to lead their organization through a continuous digital transformation process. The demystification of digital transformation and understanding what it really means is critical for all leaders. And that's what this book is about.Related Links

Formula 4.0 for Digital Transformation by Venkatesh Upadrista Pdf

A staggering 70% of digital transformations have failed as per McKinsey. The key reason why enterprises are failing in their digital transformation journey is because there is no standard framework existing in the industry that enterprises can use to transform themselves to digital. There are several books that speak about technologies such as Cloud, Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics in silos, but none of these provides a holistic view on how enterprises can embark on a digital transformation journey and be successful using a combination of these technologies. FORMULA 4.0 is a methodology that provides clear guidance for enterprises aspiring to transform their traditional operating model to digital. Enterprises can use this framework as a readymade guide and plan their digital transformation journey. This book is intended for all chief executives, software managers, and leaders who intend to successfully lead this digital transformation journey. An enterprise can achieve success in digital transformation only of it can create an IT Platform that will enable them to adopt any new technology seamlessly into existing IT estate; deliver new products and services to the market in shorter durations; make business decisions with IT as an enabler and utilize automation in all its major business and IT processes. Achieving these goals is what defines a digital enterprise -- Formula 4.0 is a methodology for enterprises to achieve these goals and become digital. Essentially, there is no existing framework in the market that provides a step-by-step guide to enterprises on how to embark on their successful digital transformation journey. This book enables such transformations. Overall, the Formula 4.0 is an enterprise digital transformation framework that enables organizations to become truly digital.

Parallel Algorithm Derivation and Program Transformation by Robert Paige,J.H. Reif,Ralph Wachter Pdf

This book contains selected papers from the ONR Workshop on Parallel Algorithm Design and Program Transformation that took place at New York University, Courant Institute, from Aug. 30 to Sept. 1, 1991. The aim of the workshop was to bring together computer scientists in transformational programming and parallel algorithm design in order to encourage a sharing of ideas that might benefit both communities. It was hoped that exposurt: to algorithm design methods developed within the algorithm community would stimulate progress in software development for parallel architectures within the transformational community. It was also hoped that exposure to syntax directed methods and pragmatic programming concerns developed within the transformational community would encourage more realistic theoretical models of parallel architectures and more systematic and algebraic approaches to parallel algorithm design within the algorithm community. The workshop Organizers were Robert Paige, John Reif, and Ralph Wachter. The workshop was sponsored by the Office of Naval Research under grant number N00014-90-J-1421. There were 44 attendees, 28 presentations, and 5 system demonstrations. All attendees were invited to submit a paper for publication in the book. Each submitted paper was refereed by participants from the Workshop. The final decision on publication was made by the editors. There were several motivations for holding the workshop and for publishing papers contributed by its participants. Transformational programming and parallel computation are two emerging fields that may ultimately depend on each other for success.
