The code was originally published in progressive installmentssince first addressing places of public assembly in September 1947 and completed the progression in January 1955 addressing childday care centers. This, the 11th edition of the Connecticut State Fire Safety Code as authorized by section§29-292 of the Connecticut General Statutes is a continuation of the fire safety process incorporating advancements in technologiesand improvements in construction materials. The purpose of this code, as designated by statute, is to provide reasonable safety from fire, smoke, and panic there-from in allbuildings and areas adjacent there-to except in private dwellings occupied by one or two families, and upon all premises. This code, isseparated into four parts, with Part I being the Administrative portion; Part II the General provisions; Part III for being for work permittedon or after December 31, 2005 for new construction, renovations, or change of use, and new buildings; while Part IV is for existingbuildings/occupancies existing prior to December 31, 2005.
