The Fifth World by Francis J. Cebulski,Frank Cebulski Pdf
Nearly all of the poems in this collection were written within a period of three months, consecutively, one a day. I deliberately set myself the task of writing a poem a day for as long as I could sustain the effort and keep my creative energy flowing. I had before in my writing career brief periods of intense creativity where I wrote poems every day; for example, when I was finishing my sonnet sequence, Mediterranean Sonnets, I wrote fourteen sonnets in as many days. These are memorable creative episodes because they don't come often and the poems deriving from such an intense focused activity are always unified and consistent in a qualitative manner, by form and technique, metrics, and poetic pulsion. The imagination grasps things with unusual claritas. These sessions are always pleasurable because-as Seamus Heaney once said to me after he himself had experienced such a period of creativity and productivity-they bolster a bit the poet's belief in his own genius. Not that genius should be measured by the bucketful, but there is a certain confirmed value in sustained performance. Many poets, of course, have achieved similar and greater feats of poetic muscularity, in the modern era Rilke for one, in writing Sonnets to Orpheus (February 2 - 5, 1922, at Chateau de Muzot in Switzerland), and William Carlos Williams, who wrote something every day for a year for Kora in Hell: Improvisations (1917- September 1918; published in 1920), and this while he was working every day as a pediatrician and general physician in his "other" profession. Williams vowed not to change a word as written; of course this did not happen, as his critical faculties prevailed, as have mine in this collection. I am myself pleased and surprised by how many of these poems stand as first written.
Theological Lexicon of the New Testament by Ceslas Spicq Pdf
deems his work extraordinary. In the upper portion of each article entry the Greek lexical form of the word or word group appears, and the lower portion contains fully transliterated English form and brief definition. Terms in the text itself are transliterated for the nonspecialist, while scholars can quickly reference the original language in the article entry. Scholars especially will appreciate the extensive footnotes, which review a term's use in the papyri, in the Septuagint, and in classical and Hellenistic writings and then assess the value of this material for understanding the NT. Parallels in Jewish writings, including the Pseudepigrapha, Apocrypha, and Qumran, are also included. Spicq supplies vital bibliography from a wide range of resources. And in this edition, any references to French, German, or other foreign language works that have been translated into English are given in their English form.
This personal story of a couple's long time love relationship captures their thoughts and feelings in a history that stretches over 30 years. It includes their correspondence of several years and contrasts with today's communication which is often electronic and brief. The setting on the Oregon coast is almost another character as it lends itself to nurture and strengthen their love. A theme throughout is the importance of family and how secrets may affect its solidarity and cohesiveness. Should they be revealed or should the common good of the family take precedence? Explore the minds and hearts of two people who don't want love to be a myth. Their language is rich, the emotions are stirring and the provocation to love well is strong.
Biophysics is the science of physical principles underlying the "phenomenon of life" on all levels of organization. This book begins by explaining molecular and ionic interactions, movements, excitation and energy transfer, and the self-organization of supramolecular structures. Then the biological organism is introduced as a non-equilibrium system. Finally, system analyses are discussed as well as environmental biophysics, ecological interactions, growth, differentiation, and evolution. A growing number of applications in biotechnology are based on these biophysical concepts.
A Grammar of Oscan and Umbrian by Carl Darling Buck Pdf
Even after a century, Buck's Grammar of Oscan and Umbrian is still regarded as the authoritative English treatment of these languages, which were spoken on the Italian peninsula during the Roman Republic (509 B.C. through 31 B.C.). Buck's introduction gives general information on orthography and lists key similarities and differences between these two languages, with comparisons with Latin. The grammar features an extensive 80-page section on phonology, followed by an equally detailed 100 pages on grammatical inflection and syntax. A collection of the most important inscriptions in Oscan and Umbrian follows, with a separate glossary for each language. Buck's work also features photographs and illustrations of important inscriptions, as well as a map. This reprint of the 1904 edition is an indispensable resource for the study of the Italic dialects of pre-Roman Italy.

Although in Second Temple literature we find a variety of songs concerned with the future of Jerusalem, little attempt has been made to analyse these comparatively as a generic group. In this study, three songshave been selected on the basis of their similarity in style, ideas and their apparent original composition in Hebrew. The texts have been subjected to a literary analysis both individually and then comparatively.
