The Spirit of Prayer by Nathaniel Vincent,C. Matthew McMahon Pdf
In this powerful work, Nathaniel Vincent explains the Christian duty of prayer and its security for the believer. Seeing prayer as a duty is somewhat simple. Seeing it as a security takes more study. Prayer is the Christian's security about which he should be "always praying." But what does that mean as both a duty and as something that secures the Christian? In defining prayer, Vincent explains that it is a duty performed to God by sensible and believing souls, in which they ask for things according to his will, in the name of Christ, with thanksgiving for what already has been received. Here Vincent breaks down this precise definition which is taken from his text in Ephesians 6:18, "Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.” Vincent also explains the various parts of prayer, and gives insight into the importance of prayer through 6 doctrines he exegetes from Scripture. He concludes the book with a number of examples of how the Christian should pray for various aspects of the Christian walk: things like prayer which invokes the name of God; praying to confess sin; praying for the depreciation of punishment; praying for repentance and faith; praying for the working power of Christ and the Spirit in the life of the believer, along with perseverance, temporal mercies, and much more. HOW TO PRAY by R.A Torrey,Rev Terry Kulakowski, Editor Pdf
Most of us know we OUGHT to pray, but many seem uncertain as to HOW, WHEN, and WHERE to pray. This book is the classic Christian answer to these vital questions. Believing that many prayers are not answered because they are not intelligently offered, Dr. Torrey examines the MOODS, the METHODS and the MEANINGS of prayer. He considers all the problems and questioning of the sincere seeker, and in answer to them offers an outline for effective praying that is as positive as it is beautiful and inspirational. The gentle art of prayer, within these pages, is put within the reach of the least of us. To read it is a mountain-top experience of communion with a loving, ANSWERING God. ""YOU HAVE NOT BECAUSE YOU ASK NOT.".".
From the view that God does not intervene in the world to the view that God is the only effective agent in the working of his will, Terrance Tiessen identifies ten views of providence and adds his own.
"If your soul is dry and your prayers are dead, here is living water to revive and refresh you." — David Murray Jesus's ministry on earth as a human was marked by a devotion to prayer. Through his prayer life, we see what it means to truly depend on God. Examining all of Jesus's prayers recorded in the New Testament, this book reflects on the content and structure of the Son of God's words to his Father— helping us imitate his example as we commune with our heavenly Father as adopted sons and daughters in Christ.
Have you ever asked yourself what changed when you were "born again?" You look in the mirror and see the same reflection - your body hasn't changed. You find yourself acting the same and yielding to those same old temptations - that didn't seem to change either. So you wonder, Has anything really changed? The correct answer to that question is foundational for receiving from God. If you lack this basic understanding, you'll forever ask yourself doubt-filled questions like: "How could God love somebody like me?" and "How can I possibly expect to receive anything from the Lord? I don't deserve it, I'm not good enough!" Spirit, Soul, and Body will help you eliminate those and other doubt-filled questions that destroy your faith. If you have trouble receiving from God, this is a must-read!

The Power of Prayer and the Prayer of Power by R. A. Torrey Pdf
"The great need of the church, today, and of human society as a whole, is a genuine, God-sent revival. It is either revival or revolution, and a revolution that will plunge human society and civilization into chaos and utter confusion. It is a time of wide-spread apostasy. This may be the last apostasy from which we will be saved by the return of our Lord Jesus to this earth to take the reins of government into His own thoroughly competent hands. That would, of course, be the greatest and most glorious of all revivals, and a revival that would never end. But we do not know that this is the final apostasy. There have been more thoroughgoing and appalling apostasies in the past than this one is at the present hour. The apostasy in England in the time of the Wesleys, and in America at the time of Jonathan Edwards, was far more complete than the present apostasy is. The apostasy in this country at the opening of the nineteenth century was far more appalling, at least as regards university life, than the apostasy of today. It was the revival under the Wesleys and their associates that saved the church and saved civilization in their day. Even so thoroughgoing a rationalist as Lecky, the historian, admits that it was the revival under the Wesleys that saved civilization in England. And it was the Great Awakening under the leadership of Jonathan Edwards and others that saved the church in America. Our sorest need today is a deep, thoroughgoing. Spirit-wrought, God-sent revival. Such revivals as far as man’s agency is concerned always come in one way— by prayer."
