Lived Experience by Delphine Diallo Pdf

A beautiful series of full-color portraits of LGBTQ people over the age of fifty Even with the extraordinary strides the LGBTQ movement has made in civil rights, acceptance, and visibility over the past half century, a growing portion of the community remains largely invisible, its concerns relegated to the margins. In the latest in a groundbreaking series of beautiful photobooks on LGBTQ communities around the world—from Russia to Mexico to Japan—French-Senegalese photographer Delphine Diallo centers on the voices and lives of older LGBTQ people in the United States, a generation that has been ravaged by the AIDS epidemic but has also been instrumental in extraordinary progress in LGBTQ rights and visibility in this country. The series of fifty full-color portraits of LGBTQ people from across the nation—interviewed on the fiftieth anniversary of the Stonewall riots that led to modern LGBTQ rights movement—offers this wise and resilient cohort a chance to share their stories and to reflect. With a special focus on people of color, Lived Experience is a celebration of an underserved, neglected part of the LGBTQ world in America and an inspiration to future generations. Lived Experience was designed by Emerson, Wajdowicz Studios (EWS).

Living and Loving Life by Howard Vanderwell Pdf

This is a book about living life to the fullest, but it's not a "how-to" book. Think of it instead as an extended pastoral conversation in which reader and author open their hearts to each other as they reflect on the richest and most satisfying ways in which to use the years God graciously gives. Beginning with the idea that Christ came that we might have life to the full, Vanderwell uses his own experiences as a stepping stone to reflect on the adventure of a life well lived. Topics include Heart Health, Formation, Worship, Living Deeply, Praying the Psalms, When It's Cloudy, The Seasons of Life, and Healthy Habits for Daily Living.

Life in the Rearview Mirror by Greg Campbell Pdf

Books communicate ideas, yes, but they are more than that. The book you are holding, along with Greg's previous writing "A Journey Shared," 2005, invites you on a journey. It's the life he has lived over the past year or so -- shared. It's the ups and the downs, not compressed into scholarly jargon, but hopefully fresh and real, and like a conversation at the corner cafe. There are some deep things in this book, and some more light-hearted. Subjects ranging from the character of God (love, grace, mercy), to life with small kids, to divorce and blended families, to death, taxes, and a whole section on money. But all of it is an invitation to think along with the author, to travel together on the path trod over the past twelve months. The book does not assume to present all the answers to the questions posed. Certainly not. But Greg has pondered the side things, and invites you to do that with him.

In Love with Life by John Lachs Pdf

Offers clear and instructive wisdom on how love of life enriches and drives human existence, even in the face of inevitable sadness, loss, and death. Ancient philosophers used to write "how-to" manuals for living. The classical American philosophers Dewey, Santayana, James, and Royce all published works that dealt with everyday concerns and issues that affected all people. Yet today, many academic philosophers talk mostly among themselves about technical points in logic or semantics or other abstruse subjects less applicable to everyday life. Not John Lachs. In this engaging book, Lachs reminds us of the centrality of philosophy to life. He provides us with a philosophy of living and a framework to apply to the most basic and critical issues we face. He enables us to see things in new and expansive ways. Fundamental ethical choices such as suicide and euthanasia, the trying and often meaningless circumstances of modern life, confusions of ends and means, and just being tired of it all-- these concerns all come under Lachs's discerning eye. He advocates confronting the complexities of life head on, with courage and persistence. Only through our own efforts and activities can we place our experiences in new and broader contexts, enabling us to find release from despair and frustration and to derive the most out of even the worst situations. Lachs shows that the good life involves joyous energy to the end. In Love with Life will help readers tap life's resources to face inescapable sadness, loss, and death. This is a book for everyone who has ever wondered how to reconcile the pervasive joys and frequent doubts that life presents to all of us. Thoughtful readers will find both inspiration and tough-minded virtue in this book.

Reflections of a Life Worth Living by Matthew Shea Pdf

This book is about a life worth living. I was born with a rare, genetic disorder called Sotos Syndrome, which caused me to grow faster, have some learning trouble and other disabilities making me seem different from most people. It tells about my life growing up in a wonderful family but also shows how Sotos Syndrome changed things. None of it was easy but with help from family and community, there was a lot of success. I also graduated from Oklahoma Wesleyan University, a four-year college. The purpose of this book is to spread the word not only about my life but also to raise the awareness of Sotos Syndrome and to encourage all persons who have it or live with someone who does. It is also a means to show and teach people who have never heard of it or who may have misunderstood the condition so they may understand better. The book may teach that a person with disabilities is the way he was made by God and that everyone's life is worth living with great success. From typical fights to disabilities, Matthew and his brother, Patrick, faced everything together as far as they could and when they could. They are two brothers who shared disabilities, not the same ones but conditions that were there for all to see. Matthew has a disability called Sotos Syndrome that has no cure. Patrick had different physical problems. None of this kept the boys from living as greatly and fully as well as they could. Both graduated from high school and Matthew has a college degree. Matthew lives in Portland, Oregon, helps in his church, works at his job and lives a great life. He tells about his Sotos Syndrome experiences, recognizes it as a disability and intends to show others that they, too, can do a lot, can achieve their hopes and dreams because life is worth living and getting the best is possible with lots of work.

We are first and foremost a spirit living in a natural body - learning to see, hear and access the spirit realm and its principles. Learning to live life through the eyes of the spirit is transforming and freeing. Living from the Unseen reveals that we can live life through the eyes of the spirit and with an awareness of the spiritual realities and principals that affect our everyday lives. Wendy's journey, and these insights, are meant for those Christians who intuitively know there is more to "walking in the Spirit" than traditionally understood by the Church. This book will also help Christians who are tired, discouraged, hopeless or hungering for their destiny and identity to be fully developed and released. This book will help identify beliefs that block the reception of God's blessings and hinder our ability to live out our destiny. You will learn that: * Believing differently, not trying harder, is the key to change. * You cannot do what you don't believe you are. * You can only receive what you think you are worth.* Rather than learning how to die - it is time to learn how to live.

On Living Well by Eugene H. Peterson Pdf

In these never-before-published stories, sayings, and biblical teachings, the beloved author and translator of The Message Bible shows us how the wisdom of deep faith helps us live well. “Calming, encouraging, and profound.”—Matt Chandler, lead pastor of The Village Church “Jesus’ words bring us the news of an expanded world, a bright world, a full-dimensioned world, a world in which God rules, mercy is common experience, and love is the daily working agenda.” Eugene H. Peterson (1932–2018) was one of the most beloved authors, pastors, poets, and professors of our time. While millions have read his bestselling paraphrased Bible translation, The Message, far fewer have heard his direct practical insights and wisdom about how to live well. Eugene knew the extraordinary spirituality of ordinary life. He understood that we actually become more, not less, human as we grow to live like Jesus. And living like Jesus means living well. On Living Well collects some of Eugene’s best never-before-published short writings to help you walk in the way of Jesus with a little more courage, passion, and hope—by offering new ways to practice generosity, community, prayer, simplicity, worship, inner peace, and so much more . . . even with the challenges of today. This book is a rich feast for the soul, ideal as a daily spiritual touchpoint or simply to nourish a heart hungry for pastoral wisdom. It is your invitation to enter into the meaningful simplicity of life with Jesus in a world of immense beauty, real difficulty, and endless wonder.

Recipient of the 2020 Shelf Unbound Notable Indie Award A collection of essays by novelist J.F. Riordan, Reflections on a Life in Exile is easy to pick up, and hard to put down. By turns deeply spiritual and gently comic, these brief meditations range from the inconveniences of modern life to the shifting nature of grief. Whether it's an unexpected revelation from a trip to the hardware store, a casual encounter with a tow-truck driver, the changing seasons, or a conversation with a store clerk grieving for a dog, J. F. Riordan captures and magnifies the passing beauty of the ordinary and the extraordinary that lingers near the surface of daily life.
