This engrossing volume describes the clever ways these birds find food, traces their life cycle, and examines their relationship with the human beings with whom they interact both frequently and loudly.

A hungry seagull will do anything for a lunch at the beach in this delightful read-aloud children’s book from comedic musician B.A. Johnston. It's a hot summer day and Gary is hungry. The beach is packed with people...and packed with people’s lunches. Though he’s been known to eat everything from minnows to garbage, it’s beach lunches Gary loves most of all. With his patented seagull cunning, Gary takes increasingly ridiculous measures to trick a young boy into sharing his lunch. Will the boy hand over his ketchup chips and watermelon? This uproarious read-aloud from beloved Ontario-based songwriter and entertainer, better known by his stage name, B.A. Johnston, will have parents hugging their beach coolers a little tighter and kids shouting “SHOO, BIRD! SHOO!” Halifax-based illustrator-cartoonist Paul Hammond provides bright and bold illustrations and hand-lettered embellishments for a salty good read. Praise for Gary the Seagull “An easy read that would be enjoyable for most kids. There are some bigger words that could make it useful for grade school-age children who are practicing reading. The bright and bold cartoon style illustrations depict all the colors that one would see at the beach. The wider beach scenes also show a diversity in the people who are there.” —Canadian Review of Materials
To Compare with Jonathan Seagull —No. 2 KeHaiying’s Comparative Type Novel by Ke Haiying Pdf
Abstract: Soon after arriving in China, Jonathan Seagull accepted the suggestion of Wang Xiaohua Seagull (President of Chinese Society of Comparative Sciences), modified his previous viewpoints that only one situation was considered, and gained the best or most appropriate results by means of adding several possible situations for comparison and selection. For example, changing "To exert the best potential, reach out and touch perfection in that which they most loved to do, in order to attain the realm of happiness." into "To exert the best potential, as well as with the help of others, reach out and touch perfection or just right in that which they most loved to do (or should to do, even have to do, and the like), in order to attain the realm of happiness and/or without regret." In addition, with the help of many Chinese seagulls, he gave the new annotations for the opinion of "Heaven isn’t a place or a time. Heaven is being perfect." as follows: "Heaven is a comparative and dynamic concept. In General, Heaven is the special position of space and time as well as social and natural environments that allow the bodies and hearts of members and community reach happy and joyful state in a way." In a word, by means of comparative method, Jonathan Seagull achieved splendid harvests in China.
I work as a registered nurse at St Paul's hospital. I have 3 grandchildren ages 7 , 4 and 1. I have had this desire to write a book about my journey to Canada. The book would have been about the struggles of my life in South African and how I ended up in Canada. This would have been like opening a can of worms and I had mixed feeling about going back in time. Then it struck me, instead of writing a sad story, why not write something simple , light and easy. The world as I know it is filled with so many sad tales and I would like to focus on the "now" and future. We are surrounded with so much beautify and many of us (myself included) don't have time to stop and look around! My grand daughters inspired me to write this story. When they visit with me , I would take out the paint and we would paint for hours. I told about the seagulls on the roof and one of them even painted a seagull. I did not provide too much details about the seagulls progress because since it's a children's book I found that my grand daughters attention was very short, but when we made up stories that involved them , I had their attention for a longer periods.
