Story Time at Hanwell Book 2 by Agaba Samuel Rujumba Pdf

Paul Rudisha is a young Kenyan priest in waiting from Maasai. He is sent to England by his local diocese to complete his pastoral duties before being ordained in the Roman Catholic Church. But soon his journey to priesthood is tested by a stumbling block of four talented orphans and their mother, who need a father figure, and a mentor as an answer to their prayer. Will the priest in waiting forsake their love and betray their trust after reintroducing them to a world of happiness they had lost? Will he leave behind the blossoming affection towards the widow? The Bishop thinks the young priest in waiting is a perfect father for the four children, while the neighbour admires their family life. But Paul doesn’t see it that way and so, he must protect his priesthood career at any cost- Even if it means completing his assignment in Kenya, so he can be far from a daring and glaring temptation. Double pulled by the love for the four children and a pursuit for his career, Paul must make a choice acceptable to God- A decision he will never regret. “Nothing happens by coincidence. There must be a supernatural force against evil that controls matter, time, space as well as our thoughts in giving shape and direction to the unfolding events as they happen on earth. Absolutely nothing other than the immortal can be responsible for such control. This justifies my thoughts for the existence of a force so strong and mighty, incomprehensible, a force far greater than our understanding and imaginations, a supernatural existence in control of all that is seemingly complex and mind blowing as par my other stories which are based on true life’s events.” Agaba Samuel Rujumba.

The Architecture of Narrative Time by Erica Wickerson Pdf

Time matters to all of us. It dominates everyday discourse: diaries, schedules, clocks, working hours, opening times, appointments, weekdays and weekends, national holidays, religious festivals, birthdays, and anniversaries. But how do we, as unique individuals, subjectively experience time? The slowness of an hour in a boring talk, the swiftness of a summer holiday, the fleetingness of childhood, the endless wait for pivotal news: these are experiences to which we all can relate and of which we commonly speak. How can a writer not only report such experiences but also conjure them up in words so that readers share the frustration, the excitement, the anticipation, are on tenterhooks with a narrator or character, or in melancholic mourning for a time long-since passed, which we never experienced ourselves? Erica Wickerson suggests that the evocation of subjective temporal experience occurs in every sentence, on every page, at every plot turn, in any narrative. The Architecture of Narrative Time offers a new template for understanding narrative time that combines close readings with analysis of the structural overview. It enables new ways of reading Thomas Mann; but also new ways of conceptualising narrative time in any literary work, not only in Mann's fiction and not only in texts that foreground the narration of time. The range of Mann's novels, novellas, and short stories is compared with other nineteenth- and twentieth-century works in German and in English to suggest a comprehensive approach to considering time in narrative.

Get Real with Storytime by Julie Dietzel-Glair,Marianne Crandall Follis Ph.D. Pdf

This is a complete, year-long programming guide that shows librarians how to integrate nonfiction and poetry into storytime for preschool children in order to build literacy skills and overall knowledge. The right nonfiction titles—ones with colorful photographs and facts that are interesting to young imaginations—give librarians an opportunity to connect with children who are yearning for "true stuff." Presenting poetry in storytime encourages a love of language and the chance to play with words. Written by authors with a combined 25 years of experience working with children and books in a library setting, Get Real With Storytime: 52 Weeks of Early Literacy Programming goes far beyond the typical storytime resource book by providing books and great ideas for using nonfiction and poetry with preschool children. This book provides a complete, year-long programming guide for librarians who work with preschool children in public libraries and school librarians who run special programs for preschoolers as well as parents, childcare providers, and camp counselors. Each of the 52 broad storytime topics (one for each week of the year) includes a sample storytime featuring an opening poem; a nonfiction title; picture books; songs, rhymes, or fingerplays; and a follow-up activity. Early literacy tips that are based on the authors' extensive experience and the principles of Every Child Ready to Read (ECRR) are presented throughout the book.

Little Lambs Bible Storytime by Donna A. Hackett Pdf

This is a book filled with morals teaching old and young, principles of God. The wonderful thing about the word of God is that there is no age limit, but it is for everyone. So with this book, many adults have come back and voiced their opinions about how they loved reading the stories themselves, as they have looked at them in a different light, through the eyes of a child. When you really stop and think about the many lessons that these stories can teach us, our children should be brought up with better guidance if parents would take the time to teach them in the ways of righteousness. These stories are designed, by the grace of God, to help parents present lessons to their children and hopefully start conversations with them to help in their growth process and how to make the right decisions.

Storytime in India by Helen Priscilla Myers,Umesh Chandra Pandey Pdf

Stories are the backbone of ethnographic research. During fieldwork, subjects describe their lives through stories. Afterward ethnographers come home from their journeys with stories of their own about their experiences in the field. Storytime in India is an exploration of the stories that come out of ethnographic fieldwork. Helen Priscilla Myers and Umesh Chandra Pandey examine the ways in which their research collecting Bhojpuri wedding songs became interwoven with the stories of their lives, their work together, and their shared experience reading The Eustace Diamonds by Anthony Trollope. Moving through these intertwined stories, the reader learns about the complete Bhojpuri wedding tradition through songs sung by Gangajali and access to the original song recordings and their translations. In the interludes, Pandey reads and interprets The Eustace Diamonds, confronting the reader with the ever-present influence of colonialism, both in India and in ethnographic fieldwork. Interwoven throughout are stories of the everyday, highlighting the ups and downs of the ethnographic experience. Storytime in India combines the style of the Victorian novel with the structure of traditional Indian village tales, in which stories are told within stories. This book questions how we can and should present ethnography as well as what we really learn in the field. As Myers and Pandey ultimately conclude, writers of scholarly books are storytellers themselves and scholarly books are a form of art, just like the traditions they study.
