Moral Classroom Management in Early Childhood Education by Clodie Tal Pdf

This monograph addresses the following questions: What is MCM and how is it viewed by teachers and student-teachers? What are the methodological tools that could help improve classroom management competencies on an ongoing basis? How has the model proposed here been applied to various issues the diversity of children in preschools, coping with challenging behaviour (and applying boundaries and rules), planning and implementing curriculum that promotes participation and learning? What improved or changed in the preschools following implementation of the MCM model? What are the main lessons learned about enhancing teachers classroom management competencies derived from applying the proposed model? Part I describes a theoretical model that defines MCM as a meta-competency. This theoretical model serves as a conceptual foundation for understanding interventions in educational settings that are focused on the enhancement and improvement of classroom management competencies. In the second chapter of Part I, we define the research methodologies employed by student-teachers and teachers in their attempts to understand the educational setting and improve their classroom management practice an analysis of social episodes, action research, and case studies. The subsequent chapters provide an analysis and interpretation of cases showing employment of the MCM model by student-teachers and teachers in several main areas of preschool work. Part II looks at the application of the MCM model in dealing with childrens challenging behaviour. Part III examines MCMs influence on curriculum and discourse that promotes learning. Finally, Part IV analyses the role of MCM in understanding and coping with diversity (ethnic, functional, and other). Collaboration with staff and parents as well as time and space management are embedded in the various domains of preschool work, and as such are indirectly addressed in Parts II, III and IV and summarised in the concluding chapter.

Current Issues in Bilingualism by Mark Leikin,Mila Schwartz,Yishai Tobin Pdf

As populations become more mobile, so interest grows in bi- and multilingualism, particularly in the context of education. This volume focuses on the singular situation in Israel, whose complex multiculturalism has Hebrew and Arabic as official languages, English as an academic and political language, and tongues such as Russian and Amharic spoken by immigrants. Presenting research on bi- and trilingualism in Israel from a multitude of perspectives, the book focuses on four aspects of multilingualism and literacy in Israel: Arabic-Hebrew bilingual education and Arabic literacy development; second-language Hebrew literacy among immigrant children; literacy in English as a second/third language; and adult bilingualism. Chapters dissect findings on immigrant youth education, language impairment in bilinguals, and neurocognitive features of bilingual language processing. Reflecting current trends, this volume integrates linguistics, sociology, education, cognitive science, and neuroscience.

In recent years, digital badging systems have become a credible means through which learners can establish portfolios and articulate knowledge and skills for both academic and professional settings. Digital Badges in Education provides the first comprehensive overview of this emerging tool. A digital badge is an online-based visual representation that uses detailed metadata to signify learners’ specific achievements and credentials in a variety of subjects across K-12 classrooms, higher education, and workplace learning. Focusing on learning design, assessment, and concrete cases in various contexts, this book explores the necessary components of badging systems, their functions and value, and the possible problems they face. These twenty-five chapters illustrate a range of successful applications of digital badges to address a broad spectrum of learning challenges and to help readers formulate solutions during the development of their digital badges learning projects.

OECD Employment Outlook 2016 by Collectif Pdf

This 2016 edition of the OECD Employment Outlook provides an in-depth review of recent labour market trends and short-term prospects in OECD countries. Chapter 1 examines recent labour market developments, with a special focus on vulnerable youth who are neither working nor in education or training. The size of this group has grown in recent years in many OECD countries and governments will need to take vigorous policy measures if they are to meet the target, recently adopted by G20 governments, of reducing the share of youth who are vulnerable by 15% by 2025. Chapter 2 considers skills use at work: are countries doing enough to assure that workers are able to make full use of their skills on the job? Chapter 3 looks at the short-term effects of structural reforms on employment and identifies successful strategies for reducing transition costs. Chapter 4 looks at how to close the labour market gender gap in emerging economies, proposing a comprehensive policy response to the problem. The Outlook’s analysis and recommendations are complemented by a statistical annex.
