2013 AND BEYOND PART II by Barbara Wolf & Margaret Anderson Pdf

I enjoyed reading Barbara and Margaret's first book, 2013 and Beyond, and I was heartened that they would continue with a second book to give us observations on their travels around the world. I wanted to read their thoughts on the condition of the Mediterranean Sea and their observations in Istanbul and later in India. I know you too will read 2013 And Beyond: Part II with great interest. Shirley Andrews, Massachusetts 2013 And Beyond: Part II focuses on the need for us Two-Legged Earth Guardians to work now in strong ways to heal our Mother Earth. Barbara and Margaret describe their particular ways to help heal our planet by using sacred music and Vortexes. Grandmother SilverStar of the Cherokee/Lakota Nation 2013 And Beyond: Part II has fascinating channeling and messages to help us understand Mother Earth's need for healing as well as the healing of all who live on her. 2013 and Beyond by Margaret Anderson,Barbara Wolf Pdf

2013 and Beyond counters the dire prediction that life on our planet was ready to end probably December 21 or 22, 2012. We authors did not believe this, and, in fact, we believed the opposite. Our planet was ready for a new beginning. Yes, we agree there are many fractures on Mother Earth, most caused by those living on her. We are actively addressing these problems, and we write about our endeavors. When you read our book, maybe you too will look for ways to help our planet live a long, long time.

Reading Beyond the Book by Danielle Fuller,DeNel Rehberg Sedo Pdf

Literary culture has become a form of popular culture over the last fifteen years thanks to the success of televised book clubs, film adaptations, big-box book stores, online bookselling, and face-to-face and online book groups. This volume offers the first critical analysis of mass reading events and the contemporary meanings of reading in the UK, USA, and Canada based on original interviews and surveys with readers and event organizers. The resurgence of book groups has inspired new cultural formations of what the authors call "shared reading." They interrogate the enduring attraction of an old technology for readers, community organizers, and government agencies, exploring the social practices inspired by the sharing of books in public spaces and revealing the complex ideological investments made by readers, cultural workers, institutions, and the mass media in the meanings of reading.

Screening Nature by Anat Pick,Guinevere Narraway Pdf

Environmentalism and ecology are areas of rapid growth in academia and society at large. Screening Nature is the first comprehensive work that groups together the wide range of concerns in the field of cinema and the environment, and what could be termed “posthuman cinema.” It comprises key readings that highlight the centrality of nature and nonhuman animals to the cinematic medium, and to the language and institution of film. The book offers a fresh and timely intervention into contemporary film theory through a focus on the nonhuman environment as principal register in many filmic texts. Screening Nature offers an extensive resource for teachers, undergraduate students, and more advanced scholars on the intersections between the natural world and the worlds of film. It emphasizes the cross-cultural and geographically diverse relevance of the topic of cinema ecology.

Beyond Barrows by David R. Fontijn,Arjan Louwen,Sasja van der Vaart,Karsten Wentink Pdf

Europe is dotted with tens of thousands of prehistoric barrows. In spite of their ubiquity, little is known on the role they had in pre- and protohistoric landscapes. In 2010, an international group of archaeologists came together at the conference of the European Association of Archaeologists in The Hague to discuss and review current research on this topic. This book presents the proceedings of that session. The focus is on the prehistory of Scandinavia and the Low Countries, but also includes an excursion to huge prehistoric mounds in the southeast of North America. One contribution presents new evidence on how the immediate environment of Neolithic Funnel Beaker (TRB) culture megaliths was ordered, another one discusses the role of remarkable single and double post alignments around Bronze and Iron Age burial mounds. Zooming out, several chapters deal with the place of barrows in the broader landscape. The significance of humanly-managed heath in relation to barrow groups is discussed, and one contribution emphasizes how barrow orderings not only reflect spatial organization, but are also important as conceptual anchors structuring prehistoric perception. Other authors, dealing with Early Neolithic persistent places and with Late Bronze Age/Early Iron Age urnfields, argue that we should also look beyond monumentality in order to understand long-term use of "ritual landscapes". The book contains an important contribution by the well-known Swedish archaeologist Tore Artelius on how Bronze Age barrows were structurally re-used by pre-Christian Vikings. This is his last article, written briefly before his death. This book is dedicated to his memory. This publication is part of the Ancestral Mounds Research Project of the University of Leiden.
