The 7 Principles of Stress by Ori Hofmekler Pdf

Ori Hofmekler, acclaimed author of The Warrior Diet and one of the first proponents of intermittent fasting, challenges conventional wisdom about diet, fitness, and anti-aging with a new approach to health that uses stress to live longer, stay fit, and ward off fat. Supported by cutting-edge research, this book redefines the term "nutrition" as it reveals the stress-mimicking nutrients that yield the same benefits as fasting and exercising. At the core of the book is the biology of stress and the way it affects key aspects of life from feeding and sexual behavior to mental and physical performance. Hofmekler demonstrates that that there is a thin line between beneficial stress and harmful stress, and shows how to put knowledge of the difference into powerful practice. His book is a call to action--a manifesto of living life to its utmost evolutionary potential, under stress, as nature intended.

Fight the Good Fight by B. A. Newman Pdf

"Fight the Good Fight" provides inspiration for individuals who choose to embrace adversity in order to reach success. Over twenty years ago Ben Newman suffered the loss of her mother after years of watching her health deteriorate. After her tragic passing, his grandmother gave him an unexpected gift, in the form of a journal his mother left behind... Though the journal was intended to simply serve as a record of his mother's medical ordeal and not as a personal memoir for others, upon reading it Ben and his brother discovered a surprising abundance of wisdom imparted within its pages. Being able to see his mother's thoughts on how to live as a champion amidst the battle for her life inspired and touched Ben, as much as if this journal was a letter written personally to him. As Ben Newman shares select passages of the journal in his book, "Fight the Good Fight," his greatest hope is that you as the reader will be inspired and encouraged by his mother's struggle and endurance. A journey that is poignant, emotional, and sometimes heartbreaking, this is a story that you will remember forever in your soul. "This book really touched me. I believe it will cause you to reflect upon and honor the heroes of your past and inspire you to create your future." -Jon Gordon, Author of "The Energy Bus" and "Training Camp" "'Fight the Good Fight' will enable you to live with more purpose and conviction, and will provide the tools to unleash the champion in you " -Roland Williams, 8-year NFL veteran and Super Bowl Champion

Temple of the Living God by Philip N. Richardson Pdf

When writing to the Corinthians, the Apostle Paul used figurative temple language repeatedly to shape the identity of his audience (“Temple of God,” “Temple of the Holy Spirit,” and “Temple of the Living God”). While other scholars have identified the place of the Jerusalem temple in Paul’s thinking or the impact of temples in the life of Corinth, there has been no comprehensive study of the way that figurative temple language in philosophy could have influenced the Corinthians’ worldview. Hellenistic philosophy was pervasive in the first century and provided theological guidance for faith and practice to Paul’s Gentile audience before their conversion. Philip N. Richardson provides a comprehensive survey of figurative temple language in Hellenistic philosophy, shedding light on the way that the kinds of philosophical thought known in cities like Corinth may have influenced the Corinthians to think about figurative temple language. This study throws into sharp relief the similarities and differences between Paul’s use of temple language and that of philosophy, and illuminates Paul’s setting of this language in the wider framework of 1–2 Corinthians and his purpose for its use in the argument of the letters.

Win Forever by Pete Carroll,Yogi Roth,Kristoffer A. Garin Pdf

"I know that I'll be evaluated in Seattle with wins and losses, as that is the nature of my profession for the last thirty-five years. But our record will not be what motivates me. Years ago I was asked, 'Pete, which is better: winning or competing?' My response was instantaneous: 'Competing. . . because it lasts longer.'" Pete Carroll is one of the most successful coaches in football today. As the head coach at USC, he brought the Trojans back to national prominence, amassing a 97-19 record over nine seasons. Now he shares the championship-winning philosophy that led USC to seven straight Pac-10 titles. This same mind-set and culture will shape his program as he returns to the NFL to coach the Seattle Seahawks. Carroll developed his unique coaching style by trial and error over his career. He learned that you get better results by teaching instead of screaming, and by helping players grow as people, not just on the field. He learned that an upbeat, energetic atmosphere in the locker room can coexist with an unstoppable competitive drive. He learned why you should stop worrying about your opponents, why you should always act as if the whole world is watching, and many other contrarian insights. Carroll shows us how the Win Forever philosophy really works, both in NCAA Division I competition and in the NFL. He reveals how his recruiting strategies, training routines, and game-day rituals preserve a team's culture year after year, during championship seasons and disappointing seasons alike. Win Forever is about more than winning football games; it's about maximizing your potential in every aspect of your life. Carroll has taught business leaders facing tough challenges. He has helped troubled kids on the streets of Los Angeles through his foundation A Better LA. His words are true in any situation: "If you want to win forever, always compete."
