A Concise History of the Muslim World by Rafi Ahmad Fidai Pdf

No historian can deny the fact that Islam has bestowed upon mankind lots of virtues. Before Islam, man would be afraid of every strange, unique or powerful thing, and would bow down before that, but Islam dispelled all such notions. It taught and convinced man that he is the best of all creatures', so he need to be submissive to anyone except his Creator. It was this concept that created in man's mind self confidence and self-respect. Man remained no longer afraid of nature but determined to conquer the forces of nature. Islam changed not only the religious and spiritual attitude of man but in fact, it changed the whole pattern of human life. It brought basic changes in human thought, philosophy, culture and civilization. It showed the social and economic justice. It made no difference between man and man, black and white, have and have-notes. It declared that all men are equal and there should be no injustice to anyone but justice to all. Here we have no space enough to describe all the virtues. Islam bestowed on mankind, but in short it can be claimed that no other religion faith of ideology could grant human beings as many virtues as Islam did. This is not merely a hollow claim but history bears witness to it. History speaks well and offers a vivid picture of what Islam gave to the world during its fourteen hundred years. It also shows how Islam treated the world and how the world treated it. So those, who are interested in human history, and who want to know facts about man's journey from Adam (as) to this day, must study unbiased Islamic history. This book is an effort in that direction. Although concise but it describes at least all the main events of Islamic history, just from its advent upto date. This book is the first volume of the work that is extended to three volumes. This volume starts from the advent of Islam and ends with the Pious Caliphs Table of Contents Chapter 1 - The World at the advent of Islam Chapter 2 - Muhammad - The Last Prophet [Meccan Life] Chapter 3 - Muhammad - The Last Prophet [Madinite Life] Chapter 4 - The perpetual teachings Pillars of Islam The ideal Islamic state of madina Chapter 5 -Abu bakr Siddiq (Ra), The first Caliph Chapter 6 - Umar Ibn al Khattab (Ra), The second CaliphÉ Chapter 7 - Hazrat Usman Bin Affan (Ra), The third Caliph Chapter 8 - Hazrat Ali Bin Abi Talib (Ra), The Fourth Caliph Chapter 9 - Hazrat Hasan bin Ali (Ra) Chapter 10 - The significance of the Pious Caliphate

A History of the Muslim World by Michael A. Cook Pdf

A panoramic history of the Muslim world from the age of the Prophet Muḥammad to the birth of the modern era This book describes and explains the major events, personalities, conflicts, and convergences that have shaped the history of the Muslim world. The body of the book takes readers from the origins of Islam to the eve of the nineteenth century, and an epilogue continues the story to the present day. Michael Cook thus provides a broad history of a civilization remarkable for both its unity and diversity. After setting the scene in the Middle East of late antiquity, the book depicts the rise of Islam as one of the great black swan events of history. It continues with the spectacular rise of the Caliphate, an empire that by the time it broke up had nurtured the formation of a new civilization. It then goes on to cover the diverse histories of all the major regions of the Muslim world, providing a wide-ranging account of the key military, political, and cultural developments that accompanied the eastward and westward spread of Islam from the Middle East to the shores of the Atlantic and the Pacific. At the same time, A History of the Muslim World contains numerous primary-source quotations that expose the reader to a variety of acutely insightful voices from the Muslim past.

A History of the Muslim World to 1405 by Vernon O Egger Pdf

Muslims first appeared in the early seventh century as members of a persecuted religious movement in a sun-baked town in Arabia. Within a century, their descendants were ruling a vast territory that extended from the Atlantic Ocean to the Indus River valley in modern Pakistan. This region became the arena for a new cultural experiment in which Muslim scholars and creative artists synthesized and reworked the legacy of Rome, Greece, Iran, and India into a new civilization. A History of the Muslim World to 1405 traces the development of this civilization from the career of the Prophet Muhammad to the death of the Mongol emperor Timur Lang. Coverage includes the unification of the Dar a1-Islam (the territory ruled by Muslims), the fragmentation into various religious and political groups including the Shi'ite and Sunni, and the series of catastrophes in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries that threatened to destroy the civilization. Features: Balanced coverage of the Muslim world encompassing the region from the Iberian Peninsula to South Asia. Detailed accounts of all cultures including major Shi'ite groups and the Sunni community. Primary sources. Numerous maps and photographs featuring a special four-color art insert. Glossary, charts, and timelines.

A Concise History of Sunnis and Shi'is by John McHugo Pdf

In this richly layered and engrossing account, John McHugo reveals how the great divide in Islam occurred. Charting the story of Islam from the death of the Prophet Muhammad to the present day, he describes the conflicts that raged over the succession to the Prophet, how Sunnism and Shi'ism evolved as different sects during the Abbasid caliphate, and how the rivalry between the empires of the Sunni Ottomans and Shi'i Safavids contrived to ensure that the split would continue into modern times. Now its full, destructive force has been brought out by the struggle between Saudi Arabia and Iran for the soul of the Muslim world. Definitive and insightful, A Concise History of Sunnis and Shi'is is an essential guide to understanding the genesis, development and manipulation of one of the greatest schisms that has come to define Islam and the Muslim world.

Islam by Karen Armstrong Pdf

No religion in the modern world is as feared and misunderstood as Islam. It haunts the popular Western imagination as an extreme faith that promotes authoritarian government, female oppression, civil war, and terrorism. Karen Armstrong's short history offers a vital corrective to this narrow view. The distillation of years of thinking and writing about Islam, it demonstrates that the world's fastest-growing faith is a much richer and more complex phenomenon than its modern fundamentalist strain might suggest. Islam: A Short History begins with the flight of Muhammad and his family from Medina in the seventh century and the subsequent founding of the first mosques. It recounts the origins of the split between Shii and Sunni Muslims, and the emergence of Sufi mysticism; the spread of Islam throughout North Africa, the Levant, and Asia; the shattering effect on the Muslim world of the Crusades; the flowering of imperial Islam in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries into the world's greatest and most sophisticated power; and the origins and impact of revolutionary Islam. It concludes with an assessment of Islam today and its challenges. With this brilliant book, Karen Armstrong issues a forceful challenge to those who hold the view that the West and Islam are civilizations set on a collision course. It is also a model of authority, elegance, and economy.
