Pascal Programming - A First Course by Noel Kalicharan Pdf

This book attempts to teach computer programming to the complete beginner. It assumes you have no knowledge whatsoever about programming and a knowledge of primary school mathematics is all that is required. The main goal is to teach fundamental programming principles using Pascal, a popular language used in schools. However, the book is more about teaching programming basics than it is about teaching Pascal.Basic programming proficiency requires that you know, at least, the following language features: the primitive data types of the language (integer, floating-point, character); how to write input/output statements; how to write conditional statements (if, if...else); how to write looping statements (while, for); how to write functions and how to declare and use arrays. But, more importantly, you need to be able to write programs to solve problems using these features. This book explains all of the above in an easy, conversational style.

Pascal at Work and Play by Richard Forsyth Pdf

This is both a first and a second level course in Pascal. It starts at an elementary level and works up to a point where problems of realistic complexity can be tackled. It is aimed at two audiences: on the one hand the computer professional who has a good knowledge of Cobol or Fortran but needs convincing that Pascal is worth learning, and on the other hand the amateur computer enthusiast who may have a smattering of Basic or may be an absolute beginner. Its approach is based on two principles that are not always widely recognized. The first is that computing is no longer a specialist subject. In the early days of computing a priesthood arose whose function was to minister to those awesome, and awesomely expensive, machines. Just as in the ancient world, when illiteracy was rife, the scribes formed a priestly caste with special status, so the programmers of yesteryear were regarded with reverence. But times are changing: mass computer literacy is on its way. We find already that when a computer enters a classroom it is not long before the pupils are explaining the finer points of its use to their teacher - for children seem to have greater programming aptitude than adults. This book, it is hoped, is part of that process of education by which the computer is brought down to earth; and therefore it attempts to divest computing of the mystique (and deliberate mystification) that still tends to surround the subject.

Pascal Programming by Chris Hawksley Pdf

In this second edition of his very successful textbook, Chris Hawksley has revised the text to conform to the definition of standard Pascal specified in the international standard ISO 7185. The main changes relate to details in the diagrams used to show the structure of Pascal, but alterations to descriptions in the text have also been made. A set of answers to many of the exercises has now been added. The book remains an excellent first course for programmers of all disciplines, including the arts and social sciences.

Information Representation and Manipulation Using Pascal by E. S. Page,L. B. Wilson Pdf

This text is intended for students on an introductory course and requires only a knowledge of Pascal, at least as far as loops, arrays, procedures and functions. This book can be used as part of the first year work of undergraduates in computer science, or other disciplines where computing is important. Readers should be able to write and test programs on a computer, and mathematical demands on readers have been kept as slight as possible. The chapters end with examples for students to test their understanding of the contents, including suggestions for programming projects to be done in the student's own time.

A Second Course in Computer Science with PASCAL by Daniel D. McCracken Pdf

Focuses on the systematic study of data structures and algorithms. Coverage is almost identical to the recommendation of the Koffman Committee report for curriculum revisions for CS2. Using a strong Abstract Data Type (ADT) approach, McCracken explores each topic in theory, implementations, and applications. Also, data abstraction, modularization, and program verification are interwoven throughout the text so that their interrelationships with software engineering are clearly evident. Chapters cover the program development process, arrays and records, sets and strings, stacks and queues, recursion, linked lists, trees, sorting, searching, and graphs. Text contains chapter introductions and summaries, bibliographical notes, historical references, and footnotes.

PASCAL for Programmers by S. Eisenbach,C. Sadler Pdf

The material for this book first appeared in the magazine Personal Computer World, as a series of articles which ran from September 1979 to June 1980. It was designed to appeal to a new (in 1979) sort of reader the microcomputer enthusiast, both amateur and professional about whom two assumptions were made. The first was that the reader was someone who had already learned to program (probably in BASIC) and who wanted to create programs in as systematic and proficient a fashion as possible. The second was that the reader would not be adverse to an occasional glimpse of how the underlying machine played its part in executing these programs. As a result of these, no attempt was made to teach the "problem-solving" aspects of programming (although the Top-Down philosophy for program design formed a key feature) and no apology was made for the repeated references to the way in which a Pascal compiler "viewed" some particular code fragment. In preparing this material for publication as a single volume, there has been little deviation from this policy. Nevertheless, it should be remarked that the first five chapters contain all the material one would need to cover in an initial course in programming (up to the level of most BASIC's) while the second half of the book tackles some of the more sophisticated techniques available to the Pascal programmer.
