A Greek Primer (Classic Reprint) by Clarence Willard Gleason Pdf

He believes that the careful study and memorizing of Greek sentences to be turned again into Greek, correctly written and accented, is a more helpful and much less discouraging process than the translation of English into original Greek, -at least in the early stages and with young pupils. The english-greek sentences may well be taken up, together with the short selections for reading, In a general or monthly review. In these days of horseless carriages and Wireless telegraphy the learner may be led to expect a workless Greek book; but that blessing, alas, is not yet in sight. To attain the little knowledge requisite to carry on the study of Greek in school or college, careful attention, common sense, and some study are necessary. It is hoped, however, that the present Primer shall clear the way of a few difficulties, and if it does not create an interest in the subject, that it shall at least remove some of the fears which beset the student's way.
