A Hebrew Grammar (Classic Reprint) by Charles Travers Wood Pdf

Excerpt from A Hebrew Grammar The following pages are an attempt to supply a want suggested by the experience of two Lecturers for the first part of the Theological Tripos at Cambridge. A few words of explanation may serve to make this clear. There is at the present time a division of opinion among teachers as to the best way of learning a new language. Some insist, especially in the case of a dead language, on a long course of grounding in grammar before anything serious is attempted in the way of reading or speaking. Others seek to minimise the learning of grammar and to push on almost at once to some form of literature. The standpoint adopted in this book is that a certain amount of spade-work is necessary, in the way of learning by heart grammatical forms and usages; but that a good deal of memory-work may be saved by starting the beginner in actual reading as soon as he knows the more elementary grammatical forms. So the student is expected to work through the ordinary classes of nouns to the end of the regular (strong) Verb, before he reads the Old Testa ment; but at that point he is given assistance in starting the Hebrew text, before going on to the second half of the grammar. In this way he becomes accustomed to the sound and sight of many forms before he tries to commit them to memory. Outlines of Hebrew Grammar (Classic Reprint) by Gustavus Bickell Pdf

Excerpt from Outlines of Hebrew Grammar Although so modest in size that it may be mis taken for an elementary treatise, it should perhaps rather be considered as the most scientific discussion of the Hebrew language which has yet been produced. Excerpt from Practical Introductory Hebrew Grammar In the arrangement of material, especially of 14 - 37, I have aimed to be practical rather than strictly scientific. A smaller type has Often been made use of for subordinate matter but very little has been inserted in the body of the work for mere reference. In the Exercises and in the illustrations of rules, I have sought to confine myself to strictly Biblical expressions. A Hebrew Grammar With a Copious Syntax and Praxis (Classic Reprint) by Moses Stuart Pdf

Excerpt from A Hebrew Grammar With a Copious Syntax and Praxis But the most important work, which has ever appeared on this subject, is the larger Hebrew Grammar of Gesenius, Professor of Theology at Halle, published in 1817, and containing about 900 pages. In this work, the whole in terior of Hebrew Grammar has received a new arrange ment, and a multitude of dark places been illuminated. The publication of it has made a new era in this department; and it leaves but little to expect from further improvement, except in some of the' details which minute observation may correct, and some arrangements of matter which may be rendered more conspicuous. Something in both of these respects has been attempted in the following pages. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
