A Horse Walking Backward by Ellen Elizabeth Dudley Pdf

Belfast, Northern Ireland. He stood there, towering above her. He inspected himself in the mirror, standing as if on parade, resplendent in his dark blue police officer’s uniform, the RUC badge shining brightly on his collar. She looked up at her father. She sensed his love. It was a sharing love, love for her, her mother and her siblings. Although she knew the answer, she asked him, “Are you going to work now Da?” He looked down at his nine-year-old daughter, wearing her grey school blazer and a pleated navy blue skirt. Hitching up his trouser legs, he squatted down before her. “Duty calls, my sweet.” The girl smiled. It was a smile of innocence, and it warmed his heart. She said in earnest, “I want to be a police officer when I’m old enough.” The smile came easily to his lips as he gazed at her tenderly. “Whatever you are in this life, Bettina Connor, do it to the best of your ability, and always be true to yourself.” He kissed her on the cheek and rose up. He took his cap off the hook and placed it squarely on his head. “See you at tea time, Bettina darlin’.” He opened the front door and strolled down the pathway. He turned at the gate and waved. She smiled as she waved back, and then closed the door. She walked along the hallway, looking forward to the evening. At the end she stopped and turned in horror, staring at the door, she ran forward on deadened feet. She called out to him, ‘Dada! Dada, don’t!” Her screams echoed along the hallway, as she heard the car starter turning. The following explosion blew down the house door, bowled the girl over, and sent her flying along the hallway to crash through the kitchen swing door and land in a bundle on the floor.

Trailer Training Horses: Simple Steps to Loading Your Horse by Keith Hosman Pdf

Begging your horse to enter the trailer is frustrating at best. Forcing your horse into the trailer is dangerous. And, unfortunately, you can't just leave the little bugger there at the fairgrounds, so you're stuck. Who needs the aggravation? The next time you're running late for a show and the kids are driving you nuts and you need to get your horse boxed up and you're running really late... wouldn't you love to have a pro horse trainer appear and show you what to do? Well, the bad news is, I'll be twenty states away that day. The good news is... you can bring my book! Trailer training is actually very easy - it's just a matter of knowing what steps to take, how long to do each, and what to emphasize. To that end, I've compiled a simple set of instructions, a guidebook to getting your horse loading smoothly using the proven methods of John Lyons. Train your horse to: - Load immediately and willingly - Unload easily and in a controlled manner - Lead politely You'll find the book broken down into five "Days" or segments: - Day 1: Easy trailer loading begins by solidifying great ground manners - Day 2: Refine your control over specific body parts, gaining respect along the way, setting yourself up for success - Day 3: Two different ways to get your horse into the trailer - Day 4: Exercises for "hard-luck" cases, training tips for everybody - Day 5: Do's, Don'ts and What-To-Do-Ifs, plus notes on tying, horses that won't unload, horses who "thrash" and more - And... learn to use a round pen to teach your horse to actually look for open trailers! You point, and your horse runs over and hops in! I call them "days" but you should take this work at your own speed. Each chapter gives you a plan, a goal, theory and homework. Some segments, or "days," will be easier than others. And, while you can breeze through everything in hours, you might want to split it up over days or weeks. It's completely up to you. Whatcha waiting for? Don't wait till the morning you're leaving to find out if your horse loads!

Core Conditioning for Horses by Simon Cocozza Pdf

Gentle ways to improve the horse’s core fitness while relieving pain related to conditions such as kissing spine. Every equestrian wants to know: what is the difference between the horse that “dances” when you are on him, and the one that doesn’t? According to Visconte Simon Cocozza, Trainer and Examiner for the La Fédération Française d'Equitation (FFE), it all comes down to the horse’s posture. The horse’s ability to use the powerful mechanisms already built into his body relies not upon the strength we can see on the outside but the strength on the inside. This invisible and complex arrangement of internal “core” muscles control the horse’s posture, suppleness, and agility. Their good condition is the key to the dance. Equine core muscles are very difficult to isolate with the traditional training techniques common to horse sports. However, by examining what we do with the human body when faced with a weak core, we can find new methods for conditioning these areas of the equine body. Cocozza has taken principles of the human practice of yoga and used them to develop novel ways of reaching deep within the horse’s body and: Gently “unlock” areas that may be a little “rusty.” Improve core fitness. And even relieve pain related to conditions such as kissing spine. In this highly illustrated book, he provides step-by-step instruction explaining easy mounted exercises that enhance the horse’s posture, and boost his confidence in his body and movement, making him easier to ride, and ultimately, the dance partner you’ve always imagined.

Building Memories by Salvador Renteria Pdf

This memoir chronicles the history of my family. It is a historical account derived from personal knowledge. The historical account includes interesting stories that I heard while growing up on a farm near the impoverished town of Fabens, Texas but also while I lived in Fabens as an adolescent. The remainder of the history transpired while living in Horizon City near El Paso, Texas. The memoir presents interesting early life experiences of my father starting from his childhood days. The memoir describes my father’s and mother’s migration to the United States from Mexico that occurred when my father signed up for the “bracero” program which was designed to recruit farm workers from Mexico to work in the United States. The memoir then goes on to present my life experiences starting from the days when I lived on a farm as a child in an adobe/stucco building that was located adjacent to the railroad tracks.
