The environment in which the decision-making process takes place is often characterized by uncertainty and vagueness and, because of that, sometimes it is very hard to express the criteria weights with crisp numbers. Therefore, the application of the Grey System Theory, i.e., grey numbers, in this case, is very convenient when it comes to determination of the criteria weights with partially known information. Besides, the criteria weights have a significant role in the multiple criteria decision-making process. Many ordinary multiple criteria decision-making methods are adapted for using grey numbers, and this is the case in this article as well. A new grey extension of the certain multiple criteria decision-making methods for the determination of the criteria weights is proposed. Therefore, the article aims to propose a new extension of the Step-wiseWeight Assessment Ratio Analysis (SWARA) and PIvot Pairwise Relative Criteria Importance Assessment (PIPRECIA) methods adapted for group decision-making.

THE USE OF THE PIVOT PAIRWISE RELATIVE CRITERIA IMPORTANCE ASSESSMENT METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE WEIGHTS OF CRITERIA by Dragisa STANUJKIC,Edmundas Kazimieras ZAVADSKAS,Darjan KARABASEVIC, Florentin SMARANDACHE,Zenonas TURSKIS Pdf

The weights of evaluation criteria could have a significant impact on the results obtained by applying multiple criteria decision-making methods. Therefore, the two extensions of the SWARA method that can be used in cases when it is not easy, or even is impossible to reach a consensus on the expected importance of the evaluation criteria are proposed in this paper. The primary objective of the proposed extensions is to provide an understandable and easy-to-use approach to the collecting of respondents’ real attitudes towards the significance of evaluation criteria and to also provide an approach to the checking of the reliability of the data collected.

Some decision-making problems, i.e., multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) problems, require taking into account the attitudes of a large number of decision-makers and/or respondents. Therefore, an approach to the transformation of crisp ratings, collected from respondents, in grey interval numbers form based on the median of collected scores, i.e., ratings, is considered in this article. In this way, the simplicity of collecting respondents’ attitudes using crisp values, i.e., by applying some form of Likert scale, is combined with the advantages that can be achieved by using grey interval numbers. In this way, a grey extension of MCDA methods is obtained. The application of the proposed approach was considered in the example of evaluating the websites of tourism organizations by using several MCDA methods. Additionally, an analysis of the application of the proposed approach in the case of a large number of respondents, done in Python, is presented. The advantages of the proposed method, as well as its possible limitations, are summarized.

Grey relational analysis method for SVTrNN based multi-attribute decision making with partially known or completely unknown weight information by Bibhas C. Giri,Mahatab Uddin Molla,Pranab Biswas Pdf

Single-valued trapezoidal neutrosophic number (SVTrNN), an extension of single-valued neutrosophic set, effectively deals with indeterminate and incomplete information in multi-attribute decision making (MADM) problem. In this paper, we extend the grey relational analysis (GRA) method for solving SVTrNN based MADM problem, where the weight information of attributes is partially known or completely unknown. Following the classical GRA method, we define grey relational co-efficient using a new distance measure. We develop two optimization models to determine the weights of the attributes. We calculate grey positive and negative relational degrees and define the relative closeness co-efficient of each alternative to determine the best alternative.

Developing of a Novel Integrated MCDM MULTIMOOSRAL Approach for Supplier Selection by Alptekin Ulutaş,Dragisa Stanujkic,Darjan Karabasevic,Gabrijela Popovic,Edmundas Kazimieras Zavadskas,Florentin Smarandache,Willem K.M. Brauers Pdf

The main aim of the article is to propose a new multiple criteria decision-making approach for selecting alternatives, the newly-developed MULTIMOOSRAL approach, which integrates advantages of the three well-known and prominent multiple-criteria decision-making methods: MOOSRA, MOORA, and MULTIMOORA. More specifically, the MULTIMOOSRAL method has been further upgraded with an approach that can be clearly seen in the well-known WASPAS and CoCoSo methods, which rely on the integration of weighted sum and weighted product approaches.

Group decision making using neutrosophic soft matrix: An algorithmic approach by Sujit Das ,Saurabh Kumar,Samarjit Kar, Tandra Pal Pdf

This article proposes an algorithmic approach for group decision making (GDM) problems using neutrosophic soft matrix (NSM) and relative weights of experts. NSM is the matrix representation of neutrosophic soft sets (NSSs), where NSS is the combination of neutrosophic set and soft set. We propose a new idea for assigning relative weights to the experts based on cardinalities of NSSs. The relative weight is assigned to each of the experts based on their preferred attributes and opinions, which reduces the chance of unfairness in the decision making process. Firstly we introduce choice matrix and combined choice matrix using neutrosophic sets. Multiplying combined choice matrices with the individual NSMs, this study develops product NSMs, which are aggregated to find out the collective NSM. Then neutrosophic cross-entropy measure is used to rank the alternatives and for selecting the most desirable one (s). This study also provides a comparative analysis of the proposed weight based approach with the normal procedure, where weight is not considered. Finally, a case study illustrates the applicability of the proposed approach.

Multi-Criteria Decision-Making Techniques for Improvement Sustainability Engineering Processes by Edmundas Kazimieras Zavadskas,Dragan Pamučar,Željko Stević,Abbas Mardani Pdf

The success of any activity and process depends fundamentally on the possibility of balancing (symmetry) needs and their satisfaction. That is, the ability to properly define a set of success indicators. The application of the developed new multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) methods can be eliminated or decreased by decision-makers’ subjectivity, which leads to consistency or symmetry in the weight values of the criteria. In this Special Issue, 40 research papers and one review study co-authored by 137 researchers from 23 different countries explore aspects of multi-criteria modeling and optimization in crisp or uncertain environments. The papers propose new approaches and elaborate case studies in the following areas of application: MCDM optimization in sustainable engineering, environmental sustainability in engineering processes, sustainable multi-criteria production and logistics processes planning, integrated approaches for modeling processes in engineering, new trends in the multi-criteria evaluation of sustainable processes, and multi-criteria decision-making in strategic management based on sustainable criteria.

Intuitionistic Fuzzy Sets by Krassimir T. Atanassov Pdf

In the beginning of 1983, I came across A. Kaufmann's book "Introduction to the theory of fuzzy sets" (Academic Press, New York, 1975). This was my first acquaintance with the fuzzy set theory. Then I tried to introduce a new component (which determines the degree of non-membership) in the definition of these sets and to study the properties of the new objects so defined. I defined ordinary operations as "n", "U", "+" and "." over the new sets, but I had began to look more seriously at them since April 1983, when I defined operators analogous to the modal operators of "necessity" and "possibility". The late George Gargov (7 April 1947 - 9 November 1996) is the "god father" of the sets I introduced - in fact, he has invented the name "intu itionistic fuzzy", motivated by the fact that the law of the excluded middle does not hold for them. Presently, intuitionistic fuzzy sets are an object of intensive research by scholars and scientists from over ten countries. This book is the first attempt for a more comprehensive and complete report on the intuitionistic fuzzy set theory and its more relevant applications in a variety of diverse fields. In this sense, it has also a referential character.

A Bipolar Fuzzy Extension of the MULTIMOORA Method by Dragisa STANUJKIC,Darjan KARABASEVIC,Edmundas Kazimieras ZAVADSKAS,Florentin SMARANDACHE,Willem K.M. BRAUERS Pdf

The aim of this paper is to make a proposal for a new extension of the MULTIMOORA method extended to deal with bipolar fuzzy sets. Bipolar fuzzy sets are proposed as an extension of classical fuzzy sets in order to enable solving a particular class of decision-making problems. Unlike other extensions of the fuzzy set of theory, bipolar fuzzy sets introduce a positivemembership function, which denotes the satisfaction degree of the element x to the property corresponding to the bipolar-valued fuzzy set, and the negative membership function, which denotes the degree of the satisfaction of the element x to some implicit counter-property corresponding to the bipolar-valued fuzzy set. By using single-valued bipolar fuzzy numbers, the MULTIMOORA method can be more efficient for solving some specific problems whose solving requires assessment and prediction. The suitability of the proposed approach is presented through an example.

Symmetric and Asymmetric Data in Solution Models by Jurgita Antucheviciene,Edmundas Kazimieras Zavadskas,Zenonas Turskis Pdf

This book is a Printed Edition of the Special Issue that covers research on symmetric and asymmetric data that occur in real-life problems. We invited authors to submit their theoretical or experimental research to present engineering and economic problem solution models that deal with symmetry or asymmetry of different data types. The Special Issue gained interest in the research community and received many submissions. After rigorous scientific evaluation by editors and reviewers, seventeen papers were accepted and published. The authors proposed different solution models, mainly covering uncertain data in multicriteria decision-making (MCDM) problems as complex tools to balance the symmetry between goals, risks, and constraints to cope with the complicated problems in engineering or management. Therefore, we invite researchers interested in the topics to read the papers provided in the book.
