A Rather Loud Silence by Frederick Fernakopan Pdf

NOTHING STAYS THE SAME!! after all, thankfully, nothing is about the only thing that never alters. No amount of lies, deceit, alteration, corruption and whitewashing can change NOTHING!! THAT RATHER LOUD SILENCE!! I have written, re-written and mulled over writing this book for the past 30 years. So there is some 30 years of hindsight within its content. There is nothing new within this book only that which may have been hidden from YOU the public. Even times and dates are from records taken in diaries, police notes, statements, oh and the odd interview tape and covert tape etc. So as I say nothing to gauge apart from provable things. A bucket load of questions to be asked and answers to be looked into but nothing at all that wasn't available all those years ago!! I tried on many occasions to place my points in various forms of media coverage over the years. Only to have those important points edited out. So I decided just to stay quiet for many years. My reasoning was to try to bring up our children in the way Patricia would want. To keep them aside from all the media attention. Seemingly I didn't do too bad a job. I spent a lot of time trying to get my story heard in the European Court of Human rights. This again was washed under the proverbial carpet around October 1998. About the time when when a deal was done to incorporate human rights laws into our British laws. It is said that we all have skeletons in our cupboards!! well mine have all been searched on several occasions and no skeletons found!! We are all players in this game of life!! Yet it is how we play the hands we are dealt that is the deciding factor!!

A Pledge of the Truth by Taylor Evan Walls Pdf

Persecution, false accusations, and philosophical criticisms were all a common part of the life of the church in the second century. Many Christian writers took up the mighty pen to defend the Christian faith. Though often overlooked, Theophilus of Antioch was one of these apologetic writers who boldly identified himself as a Christian and a believer in God’s word. In his only remaining work, Ad Autolycum, Theophilus shows the irrationality of the pagan worldview and defends the Christian faith with a firm commitment to the authority of Scripture. The Scriptures are foundational to his defense of the Christian faith. He presents the Scriptures, both from the Old and New Testaments, as a faithful guide and guarantee of truth on the nature of God, the world, and ethics. The Scriptures were efficacious in his own conversion to Christianity, and so he uses those same divine words in order to call his pagan friend from idolatry to the truth of the one God. In this book, Taylor Evan Walls offers a systematic presentation of Theophilus’ understanding of the nature of Scripture, and shows how this doctrine provided the foundation and structure for his defense of Christianity.

The Landfill of Early Roman Jerusalem by Yuval Gadot Pdf

This is the story of the landfill that operated in Jerusalem during the first century CE and served as its garbage dump during the ca. 50-year period that followed Jesus’s crucifixion through to the period that led to the great revolt of the Jews just prior to the city’s destruction. The book presents an extensive investigation of hundreds of thousands of items that were systematically excavated from the thick layers of landfill. It brings together experts who conducted in-depth studies of every sort of material discarded as refuse—ceramic, metal, glass, bone, wood, and more. This research presents an amazing and tantalizing picture of daily life in ancient Jerusalem, and how life was shaped and regulated by strict behavioral rules (halacha). The book also explores why garbage was collected in Jerusalem in so strict a manner and why the landfill operated for only about 50 years. Half a century of garbage from Early Roman–period Jerusalem provides an abundance of new data and new insights into the ideological choices and new religious concepts emerging and developing among those living in Jerusalem at this critical moment. It is an eye-opener for archaeologists, historians, anthropologists, and theologians, as well as for the general reader.

Endgame by May Sarton Pdf

“A testament to the joys of nature from a courageous and loving woman . . . her cats, birds, garden and visitors keep her ecstatically anchored in life” (Publishers Weekly). “I always imagined a journal that would take me through my seventy-ninth year,” May Sarton writes, “the doors opening out from old age to unknown efforts and surprises.” Instead of musing calmly on the philosophical implications of aging, the writer found herself spending most of her energy battling for her health. Coping with constant pain and increasing frailty, Sarton fears that the end is not far off. The story of what she calls the “last laps of a long-distance runner,” this yearlong journal addresses such familiar Sarton topics as her beloved garden, the harshness of Maine winters, and the friendships and intimate relationships that have nurtured and sustained her. She settles some old literary scores and paints a generous portrait of Virginia Woolf, who often shared tea with Sarton during the late 1930s. When illness saps Sarton’s ability to type, she dictates into recorders and has the tapes transcribed by devoted assistants. In spite of the loss of independence and the fear that she will never fully recover, she does her best to soldier on, taking pleasure in small things like a good meal; her cat, Pierrot, who loves the rain; and being able to sleep through the night. An enduring inspiration to millions of women, Sarton even finds the courage to achieve again.
