St. Alphonsus Liguori (Italy, 1696-1787), bishop and Doctor of the church, is considered one of the great masters of the spiritual life. For him we are all called to salvation and can obtain eternal life. The title of this book originally was: Abridged sermons for all Sundays of the year, but because of the topic it explains, we have decided to entitled it: Abridged sermons for all Sundays of the year: Preparation for Eternal Life, considering that death is not an end, but simply a means or a way to enter into eternal life, which is the goal for which we have been created, and toward it we constantly walk. Liguori's zeal for the salvation of souls, which had cost the Redeemer so dearly, made him write this work among others to let many know that Jesus Christ died for all and it was necessary to save them all. He thought of books, large editions of popular books that could carry his voice and the evangelical message to all corners of the earth. In this effort, he wrote this sermons, to exhort and give advice to us to do whatever we can to look for the remedies of our different vices; the means of persevering in a virtuous life; such as, to fly dangerous occasions and bad company; to offer violence to one's self in motions of anger, so as not to break out into injurious actions or words; in a word to do anything we can in order to save our souls and gain eternal life. Excellent book to help the reader reflect on his own journey to eternal life and the means he can take in order to achieve it, simple and easy reading that moves everyone to be better.
