Advanced Theory of Diffraction by a Semi-infinite Impedance Cone by J.M.L Bernard Pdf

The mathematical problem concerning the diffraction by a semi-infinite cone with circular cross section for the Helmholtz equation, which has well-known solutions for Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions, is here considered for the more general boundary condition of constant impedance type. As previously stated by D.S. Jones, the problem then changes in complexity, beginning with the difficulty of obtaining the uniqueness of the solution. An exact analytical method is developed to reduce this problem to the determination of the solution of a well-posed non-oscillatory integral equation, of which the solution can be directly used to express the field in an integral form. Some generalization, in particular to the electromagnetic case, are also given.

Scattering and Diffraction by Wedges 2 by Vito G. Daniele,Guido Lombardi Pdf

The book has a dual purpose. The first is to expose a general methodology to solve problems of electromagnetism in geometries constituted of angular regions. The second is to bring the solutions of some canonical problems of fundamental importance in modern electromagnetic engineering with the use of the Wiener-Hopf technique. In particular, the general mathematical methodology is very ingenious and original. It is based on sophisticated and attractive procedures exploiting simple and advanced properties of analytical functions. Once the reader has acquired the methodology, she/he can easily obtain the solution of the canonical problems reported in the book. The book can be appealing also to readers who are not directly interested in the detailed mathematical methodology and/ or in electromagnetics. In fact the same methodology can be extended to acoustics and elasticity problems. Moreover, the proposed practical problems with their solutions constitute a list of reference solutions and can be of interests in engineering production in the field of radio propagations, electromagnetic compatibility and radar technologies.

The Plane Wave Spectrum Representation of Electromagnetic Fields by P. C. Clemmow Pdf

Electrical Engineering/Electromagnetics The Plane Wave Spectrum Representation of Electromagnetic Fields A classic reissue in the IEEE/OUP Series on Electromagnetic Wave Theory Donald G. Dudley, Series Editor"I am pleased to see that the IEEE Press and OUP have secured the rights to republish this excellent monograph ... a long-cherished exposition on the angular spectrum concept."--James R. WaitThe purpose of this book is to explain how general electromagnetic fields can be represented by the superposition of plane waves traveling in diverse directions, and to illustrate the way in which this plane wave spectrum representation can be put to good use in treating various characteristic problems belonging to the classical theories of radiation, diffraction and propagation. The book offers a largely unified theory of a range of problems, solutions to all of which are obtained in forms at least patently capable of yielding numerical results by straightforward means. The reader is assumed to be competent at integration in the complex plane, but otherwise the discussion is virtually self-contained. The aim is to furnish the student of electromagnetic theory with a useful technical tool and a comparatively compact account of some interesting aspects of his discipline. The contents are presented in two parts. The first, under the heading of Theory, covers Preliminaries, Plane wave representations; and Supplementary theory. The second, with the heading Application, deals with Diffraction by a plane screen; Propagation over a uniform plane surface; Propagation over a two-part plane surface; The field of a moving point charge; and Sources of anisotropic media. Also in the series ... Field Computation by Moment Method An IEEE/OUP classic reissue R.F. Harrington, Syracuse University 1995, Hardcover, 240 pp. Waves and Fields in Inhomogeneous Media An IEEE/OUP classic reissue Weng Cho Chew, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign 1995, Hardcover, 632 pp. Methods in Electromagnetic Wave Propagation Second Edition D.S. Jones, University of Dundee 1994, Hardcover, 686 pp. About the seriesFormerly the IEEE Press Series on Electromagnetic Waves, this new joint series between IEEE Press and Oxford University Press offers even better coverage of the field with new titles as well as reprintings and revisions of recognized classics that maintain long-term archival significance in electromagnetic waves and applications. Designed specifically for graduate students, practicing engineers, and researchers, this series provides affordable volumes that explore electromagnetic waves and applications beyond the undergraduate level

Classical and Modern Diffraction Theory by Kamill Klem-Musatov,Henning C. Hoeber,Tijmen Jan Moser,Michael A. Pelissier Pdf

Providing geophysicists with an in-depth understanding of the theoretical and applied background for the seismic diffraction method, “Classical and Modern Diffraction Theory” covers the history and foundations of the classical theory and the key elements of the modern diffraction theory. Chapters include an overview and a historical review of classical theory, a summary of the experimental results illustrating this theory, and key principles of the modern theory of diffraction; the early cornerstones of classical diffraction theory, starting from its inception in the 17th century and an extensive introduction to reprinted works of Grimaldi, Huygens, and Young; details of the classical theory of diffractions as developed in the 19th century and reprinted works of Fresnel, Green, Helmholtz, Kirchhoff, and Rayleigh; and the cornerstones of the modern theory including Keller’s geometrical theory of diffraction, boundary-layer theory, and super-resolution. Appendices on the Cornu spiral and Babinet’s principle are also included.

Advances in Mathematical Methods for Electromagnetics by Kazuya Kobayashi,Paul Denis Smith Pdf

This book covers recent achievements in the area of advanced analytical and associated numerical methods as applied to various problems arising in all branches of electromagnetics. The unifying theme is the application of advanced or novel mathematical techniques to produce analytical solutions or effective analytical-numerical methods for computational electromagnetics addressing more general problems. Each chapter contains an outline of its topic, discusses its scientific context and importance, describes approaches to date, gives an exposition of the author's approach to the problem tackled in the chapter, describes the results, and concludes with a discussion of the range or class of problems where the techniques described work most appropriately and effectively. Intended primarily for researchers in the fields of electrical engineering, mathematics, physics and related disciplines, the book offers systematic and thorough coverage of this complex topic. It is hoped that the book will help to stimulate further investigation and discussion of the important problems in electromagnetics within this research community.
