Aloha, Texas! by Carol Walt Pdf

This contemporary romance takes place on the plains of Texas and the tropical paradise of the Island of Kauai, Hawaii. Tessa ODell, a young travel writer, meets and marries rich oil/ranching magnate Clark Marlowe. Their marriage is idyllic for ten years. He dies suddenly, and Tessas grief is deep and protracted. Her mother-in-law Jonita, a crusty old Texas ranching lady, along with her ex-boss, editor of a travel magazine, finally persuade Tessa to go back to work for the magazine. Her first assignment is to cover the Pacific Polo Matches on the island of Kauai. Tessa meets Armand Buteaud, captain of the French polo team and an international play boy. He sweeps her off her feet. She also meets Gil Dobson who is staying with his daughter and grandchildren in the resort compound where Tessa is housed. Gil is middle aged and a talented architect and developer who is moving his ecologically oriented business to Hawaii. Over time, Tessa is drawn more and more into her infatuation with Armand who romances her, but she finds she trusts him less and less. Gil shares his love of nature with her and takes her on several adventures on the island: sailing, flying a biplane in the canyons, beach trips with his granddaughters, dancing the night away. Tessa is drawn to him but senses that he and his family have some secret that they are not sharing with her. A near fatal accident causes Tessa to face her fears...of the water, of the past, and of new relationships. Tessa is finally able to bid aloha to her life in Texas. Carol Walt, the author, guarantees a happy ending to this novel which she calls the quintessential beach book. She researched the book while on the island of Kauai, so the descriptions of the scenery, the polo matches, the adventures and beauty on the island are as close to the reality of this lovely island as possible. Carol thinks that women who have been to Hawaii, or those who would just like to dream of going there, will enjoy this book.

Telehealth Nursing by Dawna Martich, MSN, RN Pdf

Including all of the information necessary for safe, competent practice, this is a practical, hands-on educational and training resource for nurses working in telephonic health care settings. It delivers the requisite tools and instruction for optimizing patient communication, performing assessments, and providing effective care of chronic conditions. Moving step-by-step from simple to complex information, the resource de-mystifies the process of telephonic nursing care and describes numerous tools such as learning outcomes, algorithms, exercises to reinforce learning, case studies, and critical thinking questions that help readers develop and hone telehealth nursing skills. The text instructs nurses on how to actively listen to the patient "between the lines" in the absence of an in-person examination and discern the right questions to ask and tone to adopt. Chapters provide enhanced communication techniques to perform comprehensive health assessments with only the sense of hearing and resources available through the telephone. Clinical pearls are scattered throughout the text from those who have been “in the trenches” and cared for a wide variety of patients using the telehealth nursing techniques illustrated in this book. Key Features: Helps nurses understand the keys to successful telehealth nursing Teaches enhanced, specialized communication techniques including "active listening" Guides nurses in assessing patients using only sense of hearing/active listening Includes case studies, algorithms, patient teaching resources and more Reviews body systems and disease processes with application exercises

Ignite: A Decolonial Approach to Higher Education Through Space, Place and Culture by Laura M. Pipe,Jennifer T. Stephens Pdf

Social justice frameworks and pedagogical practice have become popular concepts within educational settings. However, these approaches stop short of the direct action required for true social change and often overlook the impacts and importance of space, place, and culture in the learning process. Through an exploration of justice-forward approaches that call for a blend of equity and culturally-responsive pedagogies with experiential approaches to learning, this edited book will examine the process of unlinking colonizing structures from teaching and learning through honoring the context of space, place, and culture in the learning process. Framed by the Toward a Liberated Learning Spirit (TALLS) Model for Developing Critical Consciousness, this book will be of interest to students, scholars, and researchers in higher education as well as critical and cultural studies, apart from program administrators and educators. 'Ignite: a Decolonial Approach to Higher Education Through Space, Place and Culture' will carry the reader through a learning process beginning with academic detachment and moving through a process of unlearning toward embodied liberation.
