Who Will Be My Mother's Keeper by Katie Stakolich,Dr. Alfred Aidoo Pdf

Katie Stakolich and Dr. Alfred Aidoo were born into about as different of circumstances as humanly possible. Katie grew up in California, living most of her life with a mentally ill mother who dragged her four children from one unstable living situation to the next, repeatedly exposing her kids to episodes of abuse, neglect and abandonment. Meanwhile Alfred grew up on the other side of the world in the West Africa nation of Ghana. His parents divorced when he was young, and since then his father has served as both mother and father to Alfred and his brother. His father was a respected schoolteacher, but they still struggled to eke out a life on the margins. But he always emphasized the Christian value of putting God and others before yourself in everything you do. While Katie was busy raising two sons and working in a grocery store, Alfred was caught up in the busy world of practicing medicine, serving as a minister, and being a husband and father to two young daughters. As the story goes, Katie’s Mom moved to Germany to be with friends she met on the internet. Eventually, this led her to Ghana where she became engaged to a man less than half her age. The whereabouts of Katie’s missing mother finally came to light after she was involved in a serious car crash that left her in the emergency room of the Ghanaian hospital where Alfred was her doctor. Fearing his patient might die alone, and concerned about the intentions of her young fiance', Alfred exhausted every avenue trying to locate her next of kin. That is how Alfred met Katie. Over time, Alfred wound up not only treating his patient lying in the hospital bed, but also her family back in the United States that had been broken by years of living with mentally illness. Alfred’s compassion for others touched Katie’s heart, and his spiritual guidance took root within her psyche. Her path to inner peace and contentment started with forgiving her mother. The arduous journey continues to this day as she builds on a foundation of faith in God.

This book of Bible studies can be a benefit if you study it by yourself; however, you will also be blessed if you study with a few friends and share thoughts and experiences as you study God’s word. Be sure to always include a time of prayer when you get together with your sisters. In this way, you are inviting Jesus into the group and building unity. These studies are designed to help you grow deeper in your relationship with Jesus Christ, using different areas such as confidence, self-esteem, faith, grace, and friendship with your sisters in Christ. My hope and prayer is that you use this book of studies to draw closer to the One who redeemed you to walk in victory. And that you don’t just know Him in your head, but in your heart as well. Living on planet Earth is all about preparation for heaven. You will be blessed when you journey through this short earthly life with sisters!

Am I My Sister's Keeper? by S. Stephens Pdf

From the time Elise was fifteen years old, she knew she was different and that society did not embrace her difference. While in high school, Elise existed on the edge of the dating game. After graduating college she makes a decision to change her life. She wants to be the daughter her parents have always wanted. Elise terminates all of her old friendships, dates and becomes engaged to a well-respected young man. For some reason her engagement wedges a gap between Elise and her younger sister. But Elise is too concerned with changing her life to fix things with her sister. Then Elise meets a young woman who makes her question the path she's chosen. As Elise fluctuates between conflicting emotions, her indecisiveness alienates her family and sends her sister on a path of destruction. A tragedy forces Elise to rethink her decisions and accept that she is the master of her fate. S. Stephens has written a mournful yet optimistic story about overcoming the pressures of society. She explores one woman's turmoil and the emotional havoc it caused in her life. The secondary characters were pivotal to the story, in their attitudes about people's views on alternative lifestyles. The writing, characterizations and pace of the story are good. I applaud Ms. S. for this honest, emotional, and penetrating view of family influence and self-worth: she is an author who bears watching. -aNN Brown, Rawsistaz Reviewer Grab your blanket, a cup of steaming hot whatever you drink, and this book, curl up on the sofa, and spend the day wrapped up in Am I My Sister's Keeper?" -Shameal K. Nelson, Nghosi Books.com Reviewer A story of self love, sister love, and the family ties, which threaten our ability to be true to ourselves. S. Stephens has created an insightful and entertaining story that takes us into the life of a woman who must come to terms with her sexuality and face the responsibility that she has a role model t others. A page turner and must read for people from all walks of life. -Shonia Brown, Author of "A Deeper Lover"

My Sister's Keeper by Ted Allan Pdf

In a tight, dramatic, two-character, two-act play Ted Allan, one of Canada's best-known playwrights, challenges us to think again about love and guilt, about madness and normalcy. My Sister's Keeper was first produced at the 1976 Lennoxville Festival in Quebec. (an earlier version, entitled 'I've Seen You Cut Lemons,' had been directed by Sean Connery at the Fortune Theatre in London in 1970.) It is a play about sensitivity and about victims; about what we do to each other and particularly about what society does to women; about what makes us able to love and what prevents us from allowing ourselves to love. One day 'schizophrenic' Sarah arrives--to stay--at the London flat of her successful, 'normal' brother. The ensuing confrontations lead us, when we can catch our breath, to ask just who it is that is insane, and why?

Mothers and Children by Susan E. Chase,Mary Frances Rogers Pdf

Motherhood is a highly personal array of experiences with a uniquely public dimension, preoccupying policymakers, advice givers, health care providers, religious leaders, child care workers, educators, and total strangers who feel entitled to judge mothers they see with their children in the neighborhood or on the TV news. Chase (U. of Tulsa) and Rogers (U. of West Florida) approach motherhood and mothering as feminist sociologists, focusing on questions such as how ideas about motherhood are shaped by social and historical conditions, how ideas about motherhood change over time and across social contexts, who has the power to make their definitions of motherhood stick, and what diverse groups of mothers themselves think. One Gospel for All Nations by Brad Vaughn Pdf

The Bible tells us what to believe––the gospel. Did you know it also shows how to contextualize the gospel? In One Gospel for All Nations, Jackson Wu does more than talk about principles. He gets practical. When the biblical writers explain the gospel, they consistently use a pattern that is both firm and flexible. Wu builds on this insight to demonstrate a model of contextualization that starts with interpretation and can be applied in any culture. In the process, he explains practically why we must not choose between the Bible and culture. Wu highlights various implications for both missionaries and theologians. Contextualization should be practical, not pragmatic; theological, not theoretical.
