America's Greatest Road Trip! by Tom Cotter Pdf

Ride along with author Tom Cotter and photographer Michael Alan Ross as they pilot their Ford Bronco/Airstream Basecamp combination 8,881 miles along the lower 48’s back roads and byways. Tom Cotter has spent decades ferreting out lost “barn find” collector cars. The process has made him an ardent road tripper, logging thousands of miles every year on America’s back roads. Previous journeys have traced Route 66 in his 1939 Ford Woody wagon and followed the Lincoln highway coast to coast behind the wheel of a 1926 Model T. Cotter’s journeys led him to wonder: What could be the most epic American road trip? The answer: Key West, Florida, to Deadhorse, Alaska, its thousands of miles recounted in America’s Greatest Road Trip. Cotter and Ross drove across the country, through British Columbia and the Yukon, and finally through Alaska to the literal end of the road. Ross documented their road time in thousands of photographs. Along the way, the pair met fellow road trippers, adventurers, small-town Americans, world travelers, and rolled through an ever-changing geography from the Gulf of Mexico to the Mississippi Delta to the Great Plains and Mountain states through the Northwest Passage and finally several hundred miles of Alaska’s challenging ALCAN Highway. Cotter’s observations of Two-Lane America are complemented by Ross’s beautiful photography capturing both the sweep and the detail of life off the beaten path. Join them on their once-in-a-lifetime journey—you’ll be glad you came along for the ride.

100 Days Drive by Aaron Lauritsen Pdf

In the fall of 2013, while at a crossroads in life after a divorce, Aaron Lauritsen, did what many of us dream of doing but few ever will, he put his problems in the rearview mirror and headed out the door. After selling his business and all his possessions, he and his trusty K9 companion, Athena-bear, jumped in his Toyota pick-up truck, then ventured into the heart of North America for a road trip to end all road trips. Because he hoped that by getting lost out there he would somehow find himself again, he left without a plan or even a map, then for one hundred glorious days journeyed the continent carefree, via secondaries that were not only off the beaten track, but that were often all but forgot. On them he traversed some 30,000 zig-zagging miles through thirty eight of the lower forty eight states and seven of the ten Canadian provinces. And yielded in the process an untold number of encounters weaved by confronting personal fears, history, worldly cities, eccentric people and adventurous activities. The real prize afforded by the time, distance and space however, was his spiritual awakening. Follow along as he paints that epic voyage of discovery and experience the same unexpected serendipity that awaited them around each bend of the open road.

American Road Trip - Route 66: an Australian's Travel Guide to the 'Mother Road' by Giselle Taylor,Neil Taylor Pdf

One of the reasons for writing this book and sharing our photos is to help people who wanted to do the adventure that is Route 66. Another reason was to recapture the journey, the moments, and the anticipation of one of the greatest road trips on planet earth. The planning and anticipation of our Route 66 road trip was one of many years, simply because living in Australia and the tyranny of distance, we thought it would be cost prohibitive. The other banal reason was I was very unsure about driving on the wrong side of the road - in Australia we drive on the left-hand side of the road but in the US it's the right-hand side of the road. But after a family trip to Disneyland, Universal Studios and San Diego Zoo in 2005, I figured that driving our hire car for the two hour journey with wall to wall automobiles on a Southern Californian Freeway (going the wrong way down the road) to San Diego was remotely stress free, then surely I could manage three weeks driving across the United States of America some day!And so with some excitement and anticipation, tentative discussions began - "...could we do Route 66?" The resounding answer was "yes!" But how and when? The most logical time frame for the trip was around the time of my 50th birthday (June 2011) so we could celebrate and have a reference point for people who ask "...why are you doing that?" It seems that in our generation you have to have some kind of justification or an impetus for "doing" something.Anyway with all that said, this book is a guide from the perspective of a couple of Australian's, to help anyone and everyone who has ever dreamed of doing the adventure, on whatever budget you might have, and travelling across the United States of America on the Mother Road - that is Route 66.
