An Analysis of the Current Development Stage of the eXtensible Markup Language (XML) and its Usage for Database Systems by German Saueressig Pdf

Inhaltsangabe:Abstract: The eXtensible Markup Language (XML) is receiving a great deal of attention from computing and Internet communities. This is mainly because of its ability to reduce obstacles in sharing data among diverse applications and databases by providing a common format for expressing data structure and content. The scope of this project is to investigate the current stage of XML and its usage for database systems. In order to understand the XML database technology a general introduction to both database systems and XML is provided to the reader in chapter two and three. Chapter four and five deal with the methodology and findings of this project. These chapters rely on articles, case studies and surveys which are examined and evaluated. Finally, a conclusion and review chapter is included. The analysis of the current adoption of XML among software developers revealed that in Spring 2001 more than one third of international developers already used XML. In 2001 they spent about 5.4% of their development time using XML. For 2002 it is predicted that they will spend an average of 9% of their development time using XML. Concerning XML databases there are currently two major XML related database types available. These are native XML and XML enabled relational databases. Native XML databases are constructed to use the recommended XML standards to the most possible extent. Thereby, the XML document is the fundamental unit of storage. XML enabled relational databases are relational databases equipped with an additional layer to map XML content in to the relational tables. XML documents are only used as a means of transport between the database systems. Native XML databases are better suited for dealing with document structured content whilst XML enabled relational databases are more appropriate to handle data structured content such as numbers and pieces of text. The implementation process of an XML related database system into an organisation requires the right management of change to be able to handle both the technology involved and the people affected by the database system. Therefore effective change management must cover the whole project life cycle from the formulation of the strategy to the achievement of the benefits. Decision Sciences and Technology for Globalisation (ISDSI_2008) by B.S. Sahaye,Jeet N.D. Gupta,Surinder Batra,Sanjay Kumar,Sushil Kumar Pdf

It is not uncommon to find books and other publications in the literature dealing individually with the subjects of 'decision sciences', 'technology' and ' globalisation' However, there are very few instances of books which integrate these three dimensions in an umbrella framework. This publication is one such attempt. This book comprises of 58 papers contributed by leading academia from universities and management institutes in India and abroad. Many of the contributions have come from USA, Canada, UK, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, UAE, Bahrain, Taiwan, Brazil and Mexico, adding to the rich diversity of the thought processes explored in the papers. Some of these papers are country-specific, while some others provide a transnational perspective. Also, while some papers provide enriched conceptual frameworks in specific disciplines, building upon existing frameworks, several other papers provide application-oriented coverage, focused at select organizations or industries, further adding unique value to this book. There are eight sections in the book, namely: Supply Chain Management Operations Management Information Systems & ICT IT & E-Business Strategies Business Modeling Global Business: Issues & Challenges Marketing and Globalisation New Paradigms in Education and Globalisation The issues touched upon by various papers within each section are diverse and yet highly relevant and contemporary. We believe this book would be useful not only to academia, research scholars and students of various disciplines of management, but also to those in the industry in India and abroad, who are seeking conceptual inputs and experience sharing in their respective positions.

Integration of Omics Approaches and Systems Biology for Clinical Applications by Antonia Vlahou,Fulvio Magni,Harald Mischak,Jerome Zoidakis Pdf

Introduces readers to the state of the art of omics platforms and all aspects of omics approaches for clinical applications This book presents different high throughput omics platforms used to analyze tissue, plasma, and urine. The reader is introduced to state of the art analytical approaches (sample preparation and instrumentation) related to proteomics, peptidomics, transcriptomics, and metabolomics. In addition, the book highlights innovative approaches using bioinformatics, urine miRNAs, and MALDI tissue imaging in the context of clinical applications. Particular emphasis is put on integration of data generated from these different platforms in order to uncover the molecular landscape of diseases. The relevance of each approach to the clinical setting is explained and future applications for patient monitoring or treatment are discussed. Integration of omics Approaches and Systems Biology for Clinical Applications presents an overview of state of the art omics techniques. These methods are employed in order to obtain the comprehensive molecular profile of biological specimens. In addition, computational tools are used for organizing and integrating these multi-source data towards developing molecular models that reflect the pathophysiology of diseases. Investigation of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and bladder cancer are used as test cases. These represent multi-factorial, highly heterogeneous diseases, and are among the most significant health issues in developed countries with a rapidly aging population. The book presents novel insights on CKD and bladder cancer obtained by omics data integration as an example of the application of systems biology in the clinical setting. Describes a range of state of the art omics analytical platforms Covers all aspects of the systems biology approach—from sample preparation to data integration and bioinformatics analysis Contains specific examples of omics methods applied in the investigation of human diseases (Chronic Kidney Disease, Bladder Cancer) Integration of omics Approaches and Systems Biology for Clinical Applications will appeal to a wide spectrum of scientists including biologists, biotechnologists, biochemists, biophysicists, and bioinformaticians working on the different molecular platforms. It is also an excellent text for students interested in these fields.

Web Services, Service-Oriented Architectures, and Cloud Computing by Douglas K. Barry Pdf

Web services are leading to the use of more packaged software either as an internal service or an external service available over the Internet. These services, which will be connected together to create the information technology systems of the future, will require less custom software in our organizations and more creativity in the connections between the services. This book begins with a high-level example of how an average person in an organization might interact with a service-oriented architecture. As the book progresses, more technical detail is added in a "peeling of the onion" approach. The leadership opportunities within these developing service-oriented architectures are also explained. At the end of the book there is a compendium or "pocket library" for software technology related to service-oriented architectures. · Only web services book to cover both data management and software engineering perspectives, excellent resource for ALL members of IT teams · Jargon free, highly illustrated, with introduction that anyone can read that then leads into increasing technical detail · Provides a set of leadership principles and suggested application for using this technology.
