Anarchism, Anarchist Communism, and The State by Peter Kropotkin Pdf

Amid the clashes, complexities, and political personalities of world politics in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, Peter Kropotkin stands out. Born a prince in Tsarist Russia and sent to Siberia to learn his militaristic, aristocratic trade, he instead renounced his titles and took up the “beautiful idea” of anarchism. Across a continent he would become known as a passionate advocate of a world without borders, without kings and bosses. From a Russian cell to France, to London and Brighton, he used his extraordinary mind to dissect the birth of State power and then present a different vision, one in which the human impulse to liberty can be found throughout history, undying even in times of defeat. In the three essays presented here, Kropotkin attempted to distill his many insights into brief but brilliant essays on the state, anarchism, and the ideology for which he became a founding name—anarchist communism. With a detailed and rich introduction from Brian Morris, and accompanied by bibliographic notes from Iain McKay, this collection contextualises and contemporises three of Kropotkin’s most influential essays.

Now and After: The ABC of Communist Anarchism by Alexander Berkman Pdf

Now and After: The ABC of Communist Anarchism is a presentation of the tenets of anarchism and anarchist communism, penned by Alexander Berkman. His work explains anarchist philosophy in terms that uninitiated readers can understand. The book's chapters are brief, and many of them begin with questions ( "Is Anarchism Violence?", "Will Communist Anarchism Work?"). Because of its presentation of anarchist philosophy in plain language, Now and After has become one of the best-known introductions to anarchism in book format.

Words of a Rebel by Peter Kropotkin Pdf

Peter Kropotkin remains one of the best-known anarchist thinkers, and Words of a Rebel was his first libertarian book. Published in 1885 while he was in a French jail for anarchist activism, this collection of articles from the newspaper Le Revolté sees Kropotkin criticise the failings of capitalism and those who seek to end it by means of its main support, the state. Instead, he urged the creation of a mass movement from below that would expropriate property and destroy the state, replacing their centralised hierarchies with federations of self-governing communities and workplaces. Kropotkin’s instant classic included discussions themes and ideas he returned to repeatedly during his five decades in the anarchist movement. Unsurprisingly, Words of a Rebel was soon translated into numerous languages—including Italian, Spanish, Bulgarian, Russian, and Chinese—and reprinted time and time again. But despite its influence as Kropotkin’s first anarchist work, it was the last to be completely translated into English. This is a new translation from the French original by Iain McKay except for a few chapters previously translated by Nicolas Walter. Both anarchist activists and writers, they are well placed to understand the assumptions within and influences on Kropotkin’s revolutionary journalism. It includes all the original 1885 text along with the preface to the 1904 Italian as well as the preface and afterward to the 1919 Russian editions. In addition, it includes many articles on the labour movement written by Kropotkin for Le Revolté which show how he envisioned getting from criticism to a social revolution. Along with a comprehensive glossary and an introduction by Iain McKay placing this work within the history of anarchism as well as indicating its relevance to radicals and revolutionaries today, this is the definitive edition of an anarchist classic.

Manifesto of a 21st Century Anarchist by Nickk ÐropKick Pdf

Manifesto of a 21st Century Anarchist is the written account of a young adult exposed to the radical rhetoric of Anarchism, Nihilism, and Egoisim within the 21st century. The book itself is political theory, which attempts to explain the rational behind Anarchism, exemplify the ideology and begin to explain an Anarchists view of world order, justice, and freedom, and to ultimately reveal some tenants of Anarchism which anyone of any ideological background can rationally begin to understand. Taking a staunch anti-capitalist, anti-authoritarian, and anti-populist viewpoint Manifesto of a 21st Century Anarchist attempts to differentiate Anarchism from traditional politics, instead exploring a realm of idealism free from all hierarchy, state, and arbitration.

Post-scarcity Anarchism by Murray Bookchin Pdf

"In this series of related essays, Murray Bookchin balances his ecological and anarchist vision with the promising opportunities of a 'post-scarcity' era. Surpassing the constraints of Marxist political economy--which was rooted in an era of material scarcity and could not forsee the sweeping changes ahead--Bookchin argues that the tools necessary for the self-administration of a complex, industrial societyhave already been developed and have greatly altered our revolutionary landscape. Technological advances were made during the 20th century which expanded production greatly, but in the pursuit of corporate profit and at the expense of human need, workers' control and ecological sustainability. Through direct control on industry, and by incorporating an ecological and utopian vision for society, the working class can now dispell the myth that the state, hierarchical social relations and political parties (vanguards) are necessary to their struggle for freedom. Bookchin's analysis, rooted in the realities of contemporary society, remains refreshingly pragmatic."--BOOK JACKET.

Manifesto of the Communist Party by Karl Heinrich Marx and Friedrich Engels is a book where, for the first time, the aims, tasks and methods of fight of the emerging communist organisations and parties of the nineteenth century were declared and explained. It is the greatest philosophic and political treatise that is important in some way even nowadays. According to experts, Manifesto is a powerful work that still can be used as a good method to mobilize people. In addition, the work of Marx and Engels will not leave anyone indifferent. Historians noted that this book had been ahead of time. Manifesto definitely opened the eyes and minds of workers and socialists all over the world.
