ANIMAL MIRACLES OF THE GOD KIN by Dr Mary Buddemeyer-Porter Pdf

Animal Miracles of the God Kind contains over seventy inspirational stories of God's love for man and animals. Some stories contain supernatural dreams and visions. There are other accounts of miraculous rescues by those who care deeply for God's creatures. Some stories speak of angels and some are by noted ministers and those God has gifted with a heavenly presence. The stories are accompanied by over 200 scriptures revealing Biblical truths many are unaware of. Animal Miracles of the God Kind offers joy, comfort and assurance of God's eternal covenant with man and animals. Most of all it speaks of God, His son Jesus Christ, and their sacrificial love for all creation. Animal Miracles of the God Kind, written by Dr. Mary Buddemeyer-Porter, is a great example of God's grace and love for His creation. We see this in the wonderful testimonies in this book as well as the combination of God's Holy Word. The use of scripture showing that our four-legged friends are eternal is not only factual, but heartwarming as well. Bishop Dr. D. Schmidt, CPC, Ph.D. President Crossroads Theological Seminary Mary Buddemeyer-Porter's latest book, Animal Miracles of the God Kind, continues along the journey Mary started with Will I See Fido in Heaven? We read once again how much God cares for His animal kingdom that He created for His glory. But, this time, we also read about the special miracles that God allows for them. For anyone who has doubted the immortality of animals and how far God goes to provide for them, then you'll want to read this book! For those of you who don't doubt, this book will reaffirm what you already know about the providence of God for ALL His creatures! Kinship and Killing by Katherine Wills Perlo Pdf

Through close readings of Jewish, Christian, Islamic, and Buddhist texts, Katherine Wills Perlo proves that our relationship with animals shapes religious doctrine, particularly through the tension between animal exploitation and the bonds of kinship. She pinpoints four different strategies for coping with this conflict. The first is aggression, in which a divinely conferred superiority or karma justifies animal usage. The second is evasion, which emphasizes benevolent aspects of the human-animal relationship within the exploitative structure, such as the image of Jesus as a "good shepherd." The third is defense, which acknowledges the problematic nature of killing, leading many religions to adopt a propitiation mechanism, such as apologizing for sacrifice. And the fourth is effective-defensive, which recognizes animal abuse as inherently unethical. As humans feel more empathy toward animals, Perlo finds that adherents revise their interpretations of religious texts. Preexisting ontologies, such as Christianity's changing God or Buddhism's principle of impermanence, along with advances in farming practices and technology, also encourage changes in treatment. As cultures begin to appreciate the different types of perception and consciousness experienced by nonhumans, definitions of reality become complicated and humans lean more toward unitary accounts of shared existence. These evolving attitudes exert a crucial influence on religious thought, Perlo argues, moving humans ever closer to a nonspeciesist world.

Animal Spirits by Jackson Lears Pdf

“[A] master class in American cultural and intellectual history.” —Sarah E. Igo, The New York Times Book Review “Jackson Lears is the preeminent cultural historian of the American empire. This book is another masterpiece in his magisterial corpus.” —Cornel West One of Wired's best books of 2023 A master historian’s retrieval of the spiritual visions and vitalisms that animate American life and the possibilities they offer today. In Animal Spirits, the distinguished historian Jackson Lears explores an alternative American cultural history by tracking the thinkers who championed the individual’s spontaneous energies and the idea of a living universe against the strictures of conventional religion, business, and politics. From Puritan times to today, Lears traces ideas and fads such as hypnosis and faith healing from the pulpit and stock exchange to the streets and the betting table. We meet the great prophets of American vitality, from Walt Whitman and William James to Andrew Jackson Davis (the “Poughkeepsie Seer”) and the “New Thought” pioneer Helen Wilmans, who spoke of the “god within—rendering us diseaseless incarnations of the great I Am." Well before John Maynard Keynes stressed the reliance of capitalism on investors’ “animal spirits,” these vernacular vitalists established an American religion of embodied mind that also suited the needs of the marketplace. In the twentieth century, the vitalist impulse would be enlisted in projects of violent and racially charged national regeneration by Theodore Roosevelt and his legatees, even as African American writers confronted the paradoxes of primitivism and the 1960s counterculture imagined new ways of inspiriting the universe. Today, scientists are rediscovering the best features of the vitalist tradition—permitting us to reclaim the role of chance and spontaneity in the conduct of our lives and our understanding of the cosmos. Learning Love from a Tiger by Daniel Capper Pdf

Learning Love from a Tiger explores the vibrancy and variety of humans’ sacred encounters with the natural world, gathering a range of stories culled from Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Mayan, Himalayan, Buddhist, and Chinese shamanic traditions. Readers will delight in tales of house cats who teach monks how to meditate, shamans who shape-shift into jaguars, crickets who perform Catholic mass, rivers that grant salvation, and many others. In addition to being a collection of wonderful stories, this book introduces important concepts and approaches that underlie much recent work in environmental ethics, religion, and ecology. Daniel Capper’s light touch prompts readers to engage their own views of humanity’s place in the natural world and question longstanding assumptions of human superiority.
