Forsthoffer's Proven Guidelines for Rotating Machinery Excellence by William E. Forsthoffer Pdf
Forsthoffer's Proven Guidelines for Rotating Machinery Excellence draws on Forsthoffer’s 60 years of industry experience to get new operatives up to speed fast. Each of the topics covered are selected based on hard-won knowledge of where problems with rotating machinery originate. This easy to use, highly-illustrated book is designed to elevate the competence of entry level personnel to enable them to immediately contribute to providing optimum rotating machinery reliability for their companies. The first 3 chapters address practical personal rotating machinery awareness, detail how to optimize this awareness to identify "low hanging fruit" safety and reliability improvement opportunities and how to define and implement a cost-effective action plan. The remaining chapters focus on the function of key components in each type of rotating machinery and how to monitor and correct their condition before failure. The last chapter is an RCA (Root Cause Analysis) procedure chapter detailing effective Root Cause Identification before a Failure to prevent a costly failure and the need for a RCFA. Real-life examples are provided from the field of operation and maintenance of rotating machinery, helping readers to implement effectively Includes important advice on monitoring approaches for different types of machines, highlighting differences between working with pumps and compressors A chapter on Root Cause Identification features proven methods to help your organization to prevent machinery failures
This book addresses itself to two major problems: the increasing demand for water and the increasing limitations on energy use. Within the general framework of problems regarding pumps and pumping installations, attention is focussed on variable-speed pumps. The book considers all aspects of pumps and pumping systems theory. The first four chapters cover the theory of pump operation and control, and with the phenomenon of cavitation. The next three chapters treat the computations and operation of a pumping system in both continuous and discontinuous flow conditions, as well as the computation methods and control of water hammer by means of automatic hydraulic valves. Chapters 8 to 13 deal with the theory and structure of automatically controlled pumps, and with the speed regulation systems of the electric motors driving the pumps. The last chapter analyses optimal schemes for fixed- and variable-speed pump installations for various typical applications and gives associated operation diagrams. Throughout the book, numerous tables and diagrams support the written text.

Energy Management Handbook, Fifth Edition by Steve Doty,Wayne C. Turner Pdf
Originally published two decades ago, the Energy Management Handbook has become recognized as the definitive stand-alone energy manager's desk reference, used by thousands of energy management professionals throughout the industry. Known as the bible of energy management, it has helped more energy managers reach their potential than any other resource. Completely revised and updated, the fifth edition includes new chapters on building commissioning and green buildings. You'll find in-depth coverage of every component of effective energy management, including boiler and steam system optimization, lighting and electrical systems, HVAC system performance, waste heat recovery, cogeneration, thermal energy storage, energy management control systems, energy systems maintenance, building envelope, industrial insulation, indoor air quality, energy economic analysis, energy procurement decision making, energy security and reliability, and overall energy management program organization. You'll also get the latest facts on utility deregulation, energy project financing, and in-house vs. outsourcing of energy services. The energy industry has change radically since the initial publication of this reference over 20 years ago. Looking back on the energy arena, one thing becomes clear: energy is the key element that must be managed to ensure a company's profitability. The Energy Management Handbook, Fifth Edition is the definitive reference to guide energy managers through the maze of changes the industry has experienced.
Assessing the Energy Efficiency of Pumps and Pump Units by em. Dr.-Ing Bernd Stoffel Pdf
Assessing the Energy Efficiency of Pumps and Pump Units, developed in cooperation with Europump, is the first book available providing the background, methodology, and assessment tools for understanding and calculating energy efficiency for pumps and extended products (pumps+motors+drives). Responding to new EU requirements for pump efficiency, and US DOE exploratory work in setting pump energy efficiency guidelines, this book provides explanation, derivation, and illustration of PA and EPA methods for assessing energy efficiency. It surveys legislation related to pump energy efficiencies, provides background on pump and motor efficiencies, and describes the concept of Energy Efficiency Index (EEI) for circulators and single and multi-pump systems. The first book to cover Europump- sponsored research on energy efficiency in pumps, including coverage of new EU guidelines implemented in January 2015 Discusses Product Approach (PA) and Extended Product Approach (EPA) to assessing energy efficiency Derives and explains the Minimum Efficiency Index (MEI)
