Archisutra by Miguel Bolivar Pdf

Redesign your sex life with this tongue-in-cheek architecture and design-themed take on the Kama Sutra. 'Truss Me', 'Eames it in' and 'Get an Eiffel' are just some of the sexual positions listed in this architecture- and design-themed take on the Kama Sutra, the ancient Indian Hindu guide to love and sex. Le Corbusier coined the phrase 'machines for living' in his book, Towards an Architecture in 1923. Sex plays a large role in society and everyday life. So why is it so often overlooked when an architect designs a building? Miguel Bolivar's tongue-incheek sex manual uses witty descriptions and annotated scale drawings to demonstrate various sexual positions, all inspired by iconic buildings and often incorporating surprising uses for designer furniture. The Archisutra builds on the work of Vitruvius, da Vinci and Le Corbusier in pushing the idea that buildings should be designed around human life.

The Archisutra by Miguel Bolivar Pdf

The Archisutra is a design manual giving you the necessary data for a selection of sex positions, using annotated scale drawings and informative descriptions. Swiss architect Le Corbusier coined the phrase 'machines for living', within his book, 'Towards an Architecture' in 1923. Sex plays a large role in society and everyday life. So, why is it so often overlooked when an architect designs a building? The Archisutra raises the question: How should we design for sex? In 1490 Leonardo da Vinci sketched the Vitruvian Man, a diagram showing the proportions of man based on the writings of Vitruvius in 400AD. The sketch of the Vitruvian Man depicts the perfect male form as seen by Vitruvius. Vitruvius aimed to discover the mathematical proportions of the human body and use the findings to improve the function and appearance of architecture. In more modern times, the architect Le Corbusier devised an anthropometric scale of proportions, a further development from Vitruvius' work. He called his system The Modulor. The Modulor, was a standard model of the human form used by Le Corbusier to determine the correct amount of living space needed for residents in his buildings. The Archisutra follows on from the work of Vitruvius, da Vinci and Le Corbusier and pushes the idea that buildings should be designed around human life.

Le Corbusier: The Built Work by Richard Pare,Jean-Louis Cohen Pdf

The most thoroughgoing survey of nearly all of Le Corbusier's extant projects, beautifully photographed and authoritatively detailed. Le Corbusier is widely acknowledged as the most influential architect of the twentieth century. As extensively researched and documented as his works are, however, they have never been exhaustively surveyed in photographs until now. Photographer Richard Pare has crossed the globe for years to document the extant works of Le Corbusier--from his first villas in Switzerland to his mid-career works in his role as the first global architect in locations as far-flung as Argentina and Russia, and his late works, including his sole North American project, at Harvard University, and an extensive civic plan for Chandigarh, India. Le Corbusier: The Built Work provides numerous views of each project to bring a fuller understanding of the architect's command of space, sometimes surprising use of materials and color, and the almost ineffable qualities that only result from a commanding synthesis of all aspects of design. With an authoritative text by scholar and curator Jean-Louis Cohen, Le Corbusier: The Built Work is a groundbreaking opportunity to appreciate the master's work anew.

Archist by Federico Babina Pdf

Archist is a playful interpretation of the expressive language and aesthetics of some of the world's most popular artists. For example, Babina tried to imagine what a house designed by Dalí or a museum conceived by Miró would look like. The illustrations represent an imaginary and imagined world of shapes. Federico Babina finds great pleasure in imagining architecture designed and constructed through the interpretation of an artist's language. The book shows that there is a symbiotic relationship and implicit partnership between architecture and art. The posters in the book manage to catch the essence of the oeuvre of the artists in question. As a consequence, the posters are much more than mere decoration; they become a playful piece of art history.

The World by Design by A. Eugene Kohn,Clifford Pearson Pdf

Sharing stories and inspiring lessons on leadership and design, one architect explains how he helped build one of the world’s most successful firms Founded on July 4, 1976, Kohn Pedersen Fox quickly became a darling of the press with groundbreaking buildings such as the headquarters for the American Broadcasting Company (ABC) in New York, 333 Wacker Drive in Chicago, the Procter & Gamble headquarters in Cincinnati, and the World Bank Headquarters in Washington, DC. By the early 1990s, when most firms in the U.S. were struggling to survive a major recession, KPF was busy with significant buildings in London, Germany, Canada, Japan, Korea, and Indonesia—pioneering a model of global practice that has influenced architecture, design, and creative-services firms ever since. Like any other business, though, KPF has stumbled along the way and wrestled with crises. But through it all, it has remained innovative in an ever-changing field that often favors the newest star on the horizon. Now in its fifth decade, the firm has shaped skylines and cities around the world with iconic buildings such as the World Financial Center in Shanghai, the International Commerce Centre in Hong Kong, the DZ Bank Tower in Frankfurt, the Heron Tower in London, and Hudson Yards in New York. Forthright and engaging, Kohn examines both award-winning achievements and missteps in his 50-year career in architecture. In the process, he shows how his firm, KPF, has helped change the buildings and cities where we live, work, learn, and play. “A must-read for all of those who love cities and the buildings and skylines that define them.” —Stephen M. Ross, chairman and founder of The Related Companies
