Agile Business Architecture for Digital Transformation by Dr Mehmet Yildiz Pdf

We are in a frenetic and a convoluted digital age. Every organisation strives to transform its business to stay competitive in this exponentially growing digital world. Digital transformation became pervasive and ubiquitous in all business ventures. This new norm of constant transformation requires architecting our business and underlying technology stacks rapidly. Establishing agile business architecture frameworks are fundamental requirements to achieve successful digital transformation outcomes. In this book, I attempt to share my knowledge and experience using a rigorous yet agile architectural method. My aim is to add accelerated value to the broader business architecture and digital transformation communities by focusing on the practical aspect with minimal emphasis on the theoretical aspect. The content in this book is based on my architectural thought leadership experience gained in multiple large business and enterprise architecture initiatives, focusing on business capabilities, digital transformation initiatives, and enterprise modernisation engagements, reflecting hard lessons learned in these applied settings. In this book I attempt to redefine the role of business architects as primary leaders for digital transformation programs. The content reflects my experience and observations from the field. As a caveat, this book is not based on theories in the traditional business architecture textbooks which may conflict with my experience. My beta readers found this as a unique guide reflecting reality from the field. Hope it adds new insights for your role in the business digital transformation initiatives.

Architectural Coordination of Enterprise Transformation by Henderik A. Proper,Robert Winter,Stephan Aier,Sybren de Kinderen Pdf

Architectural coordination of enterprise transformation (ACET) integrates and aggregates local information and provides different viewpoints, such as financial, structural, or skill perspectives to the respective stakeholder groups, with the aim of creating a consensus and shared understanding of an enterprise transformation among the stakeholders. Its core purpose is to inform decision-makers with both local and enterprise-wide concerns so that the overall transformation goals can be successfully pursued, i.e. reducing inconsistencies and including local decisions in the overarching goals. This book consists of three major parts, framed by an introduction and a summary. To enable readers to gain a better understanding of the issues involved in real-world enterprise transformations as well as the possible role of architectural coordination and the associated challenges, Part I provides an analysis of status quo of corporate ACET practice. Part II then continues with an exploration of the challenges facing ACET from a theoretical perspective. Based on these challenges, Part III then presents a collection of components for a possible design theory for ACET. Instead of an integrated method, this collection of components constitutes method fragments that can be arranged in different ways depending on the perspective taken, the actual enterprise architecture management approach, the enterprise transformation type and the transformation’s context.

Digital Transformation of Enterprise Architecture by Vivek Kale Pdf

"In this book, Vivek Kale makes an important contribution to the theory and practice of enterprise architecture ... this book captures the breadth and depth of information that a modern enterprise architecture must address to effectively support an agile enterprise. This book should have a place in every practicing architect's library." —John D. McDowall, Author of Complex Enterprise Architecture Digital Transformation of Enterprise Architecture is the first book to propose Enterprise Architecture (EA) as the most important element (after Business Models) for digital transformation of enterprises. This book makes digital transformation more tangible by showing the rationale and typical technologies associated with it, and these technologies in turn reveal the essence of digital transformation. This book would be useful for analysts, designers and developers of future-ready agile application systems. This book proposes that it is the perennial quest for interoperability & portability, scalability, availability, etc., that has directed and driven the evolution of the IT/IS industry in the past 50 years. It is this very quest that has led to the emergence of technologies like service-oriented, cloud, and big data computing. In addition to the conventional attributes of EA like interoperability, scalability and availability, this book identifies additional attributes of mobility, ubiquity, security, analyticity, and usability. This pragmatic book: Identifies three parts effort for any digital transformation: Business Models, Enterprise Architectures and Enterprise Processes. Describes eight attributes of EA: interoperability, scalability, availability, mobility, ubiquity, security, analyticity, and usability. Explains the corresponding technologies of service-oriented, cloud, big data, context-aware, Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain, soft, and interactive computing. Briefs on auxiliary technologies like integration, virtualization, replication, spatio-temporal databases, embedded systems, cryptography, data mining, and interactive interfaces that are essential for digital transformation of enterprise architecture. Introduces interactive interfaces like voice, gaze, gesture and 3D interfaces. Provides an overview of blockchain computing, soft computing, and customer interaction systems. Digital Transformation of Enterprise Architecture proposes that to withstand the disruptive digital storms of the future, enterprises must bring about digital transformation, i.e. a transformation that affects an exponential change (amplification or attenuation) in any aspect of the constituent attributes of EA. It proposes that each of these technologies (service-oriented, cloud, big data, context-aware, IoT, blockchain, soft, and interactive computing) bring about digital transformation of the corresponding EA attribute viz. interoperability, scalability, availability, mobility, ubiquity, security, analyticity, and usability.

Enterprise Architecture (EA) is an essential part of the fabric of a business; however, EA also transcends and transforms technology and moves it into the business space. Therefore, EA needs to be discussed in an integrated, holistic, and comprehensive manner. Only such an integrated approach to EA can provide the foundation for a transformation that readies the business for the myriad enterprise-wide challenges it will face. Highly disruptive technologies such as Big Data, Machine Learning, and Mobile and Cloud Computing require a fine balance between their business and technical aspects as an organization moves forward with its digital transformation. This book focuses on preparing all organizations – large and small – and those wishing to move into them for the impact of leveraging these emerging, disruptive, and innovative technologies within the EA framework.

Architecting Digital Transformation by Yildiz Pdf

Enterprises are facing enormous challenges to respond to the rapid changes and growing demands of digital consumers globally. There is constant search to find solutions to the growing problems. The most optimal solution to address this problem is to architect our enterprise digital transformation requirements aligning with digital trends and innovative frameworks as described in this book with an articulated 12-step method.Architecting digital transformations addresses the root causes of fundamental issues that we experience in the digital world. The proliferation of digital media in the form of images, sound, and videos created a massive demand for our infrastructure to scale globally. Relentless sharing of these media types creates an unsustainable load over the networks, applications, and other expensive infrastructure components unless an effective capacity plan is in place.Based on my architectural thought leadership on various enterprise architecture initiatives, digital transformation, and modernisation engagements, with my accumulated body of knowledge and skills from practical settings, I want to share these learnings in a concise book with a specific 12-step method hoping to add value by contributing to the broader digital community and the progressing digital transformation initiatives. I made every effort to make this book concise, uncluttered, and easy-to-read by removing technical jargons to make it readable by a broader audience who want to architect their digital transformation programs to align with the growing demands of their digital consumers. In this book, I highlight the problems from an architectural point of view, following established and emerging methods, and recommend effective solutions to address them in a methodical way. What distinguishes this book from other books on the market is that I provide a practical framework and a methodical approach to architect your organisation's digital infrastructure, applications, data, security, and other components based on experience, aiming not to sell or endorse any products or services to you.

This volume constitutes the proceedings of the 4th Working Conference on Practice-Driven Research on Enterprise Transformation (PRET), held in Gdańsk, Poland, on June 27, 2012, as the industrial track of the 24th International Conference on Advanced Information Systems Engineering (CAiSE 2012). Restructuring, divesting, improving performance, and merging are among the usual transformation activities that enterprises conduct to provide answers to the challenging demands put on them. To foster the much-needed debate between researchers and practitioners on these topics, the number of papers accepted for PRET is kept low, providing the authors and the audience with ample time to engage in discussions about both the practical implications of results and the theoretical underpinnings of phenomena observed in industrial practice. This year, five papers were selected after careful review, and each paper is between 20 and 25 pages long, to allow for the presentation of details. The topics covered include enterprise architecture, business and IT alignment, and business process management and evaluation.

The Enterprise Architecture Matters Blog Chapter II by Adrian Grigoriu Pdf

The book, the 2nd in the Enterprise Architecture Matters Blog series, reviews the state of the Enterprise which, due to its organic growth, has become unnecessarily complex. A consequence is that over 70% of the Enterprise IT Transformations fail today. The causes are analysed through the eyes of analysts and cures are debated and suggested in the book. Enterprise Architecture (EA) is proposed as a a tool to manage and reduce the today's enterprise complexity and technology debt. Then Gartner's Enterprise Architecture hypecycle is debated, as is their "Smarter with Gartner" approach. The Digital fast progress increasingly opens the products and technology (IoT...) to computerised control, automation and enables remote work and access to resources, content and computing power over the Internet... The Digital evolution, better seen revolution today due to its pace, makes possible now the Cloud enterprise, an enterprise which Value and Support Chains links are outsourced to a Cloud of IT and partner services. Under the assault of the Digital, the Value Chain of IT itself changes though from the legacy Design-Build-Run (DBR) to the Broker-Integrate-Orchestrate (BIO) in KPMG's view. The novel Model-Integrate-Assure (MIA) Value Chain is predicted though in the book because one has to model the Enterprise Architecture before even engaging in change an Enterprise Transformation today. These three mode of IT operation (DBR, BIO and MIA)would co-exist for a long while though. The new and changing roles of CIO, Digital Officer are the object of further discussion. MIT Sloan's takes on Digital Maturity and Decoupling and McKinsey's view on the Digital Transformation and their Two Speed IT concept are further discussed. The two digital technologies that change the enterprise and the world today, IoT and 5G, are introduced, as well as the enterprise evolution towards the Cloud technology. The shallow style of work of today (over 90% time spent in calls, meetings and emails) endangers though the enterprise and its progress, robbing it of the productivity of the willing deep workers which time is hijacked by the shallow work. The Enterprise is also marred today by the absence of a Constitution, fact discussed in the book, which would gather consistently and rationalise the many enterprise values, ethical behaviour rules, guidelines and policies in a single manageable Book of the Enterprise which can be put in practice and enforced to shape the Enterprise Culture and behaviour since Culture is a major roadblock in the enterprise development. The enterprise is today in search of flatter kinds of organisation in order to increase its output and employee motivation. The Tragedy of Commons, Holacracy organisation paradigms are discussed in this context. The serviced based enterprise approach, enabled and aligned to the Enterprise Architecture, is proposed though in the book to address the enterprise problems of today. Google's thoughts on what a good manager and an effective team are discussed at this stage. The aim of the book though is to discuss the enterprise Digital Transformation and its failures. UK's Government Digital Initiative is discussed at large. The blogs in the book often attempt to introduce novel views or debate the opinions held at the time by esteemed analyst companies and colleagues.
