60 Seconds to Greatness by Eddie L. Long,Cecil Murphey Pdf

The pastor of Atlanta’s New Birth Missionary Baptist Church will show you how to live a life of God-filled greatness and experience success—spiritually, personally, and financially. Captured in these pages is his wisdom on how to be everything that God wants us to become. And it can begin in 60 seconds. Every minute of your life can bring you one step closer to God, who promises great things. Bishop Long challenges you to prepare for the coming of these promises. Pray for and expect prosperity—and, with his Strategic Life Plan, you can create a blueprint for success in every area of life: work, family, finances, and self-fulfillment. And the greatest gift of all: the realization of God’s plan for your life. Full of 60-second exercises, quizzes, and affirmations, Bishop Long’s breakthrough book will challenge everything you thought you knew about transforming your life. Long shows how to take cues from inspirational Biblical figures—from the prophet Nehemiah’s right mindset to Joseph’s work ethic. And just as Jacob and Esther did, you too can move from mediocrity to magnificence in God’s eyes. Now you can make the most of your minutes, by being everything God wants you to be. And you can start your journey to greatness in 60 seconds. “Bishop Eddie Long is a leader who can help you transform your life. Let him teach you how to unblock the blessings in your life and open the doors of opportunity. Greatness can be yours!”—Bishop T. D. Jakes, The Potter’s House of Dallas, Inc. “To connect with Bishop Long in any way will make you a stronger person. He is one of our greatest voices.”—Lou Gossett, Jr., Golden Globe and Academy Award–winning actor “60 Seconds to Greatness is the blueprint that shows you how to travel the road to greatness. This should be a required reading everywhere . . . ”—Warren Ballentine, nationally syndicated radio personality, author, and youth activist “60 Seconds to Greatness is the playbook on not just how to live a better life, but the best life you can, by maximizing every minute and seizing every opportunity.”—Ray Buchanan, All-Pro NFL star

Remembering by Fergus Craik Pdf

Memory is typically thought of as a set of neural representations - 'memory traces' - that must be found and reactivated in order to be experienced. It is often suggested that 'memory traces' are represented by a hierarchically organized system of analyzers, modified, sharpened and differentiated by encounters with successive events. Remembering: An activity of mind and brain is the magnum opus of one of the leading figures in the psychology of memory. It sets out Fergus Craik's current view of human memory as a dynamic activity of mind and brain. The author argues that remembering should be understood as a system of active cognitive processes, similar to (perhaps identical to) the processes underlying attending, perceiving and thinking. Thus, encoding processes are essentially viewed as the mental activities involved in perceiving and understanding, and retrieval is described as the partial reactivation of these same processes. This account proposes that episodic and semantic memory should be thought of as levels in a continuum of specificity rather than as separate systems of memory. In addition, the book presents Craik's views on working memory and on age-related memory impairments. In the latter case the losses are attributed largely to a difficulty with the self-initiation of appropriate encoding and retrieval operations compensated, when needed, by support from the external environment. The development of these ideas is discussed throughout the book and illustrated substantially by experiments from the author's lab, but also by empirical and theoretical contributions from other researchers. A broad account of current ideas and findings in contemporary memory research, but viewed from the author's personal theoretical standpoint, Remembering: An activity of mind and brain will be essential for researchers, graduate and postdoctoral students working in the field of human memory.

Core Knowledge and Conceptual Change by David Barner,Andrew Scott Baron Pdf

We acquire concepts such as "atom," "force," "integer," and "democracy" long after we are born; these concepts are not part of the initial cognitive state of human beings. Other concepts like "object," "cause," or "agent" may be present early in infancy--if not innately. Processes of change occur throughout our conceptual development, which prompts two key questions: Which human concepts constitute innate, core knowledge? How do humans acquire new concepts, and how do these concepts change in development? Core Knowledge and Conceptual Change provides a unique theoretical and empirical introduction to the study of conceptual development, documenting key advances in case studies, including ground-breaking science on human representations of language, objects, number, events, color, space, time, beliefs, and desires. Additionally, it explores how humans engage in moral reasoning and causal explanation: Are humans born good and tainted by an imperfect world, or do we need to teach children to be moral? Could a concept like "freedom" be woven into the human soul, or is it a historical invention, constructed over generations of humans? Written by an eminent list of contributors renowned in child development and cognitive science, this book delves widely, and deeply, into the cognitive tools available at birth that are repurposed, combined, and transformed to complex, abstract adult conceptual representations, and should be of interest to developmental psychologists, linguists, philosophers, and students of cognitive science.

Principles of Behavioral and Cognitive Neurology by M.-Marsel Mesulam Pdf

This thoroughly revised new edition of a classic book provides a clinically inspired but scientifically guided approach to the biological foundations of human mental function in health and disease. It includes authoritative coverage of all the major areas related to behavioral neurology, neuropsychology, and neuropsychiatry. Each chapter, written by a world-renowned expert in the relevant area, provides an introductory background as well as an up-to-date review of the most recent developments. Clinical relevance is emphasized but is placed in the context of cognitive neuroscience, basic neuroscience, and functional imaging. Major cognitive domains such as frontal lobe function, attention and neglect, memory, language, prosody, complex visual processing, and object identification are reviewed in detail. A comprehensive chapter on behavioral neuroanatomy provides a background for brain-behavior interactions in the cerebral cortex, limbic system, basal ganglia, thalamus, and cerebullum. Chapters on temperolimbic epilepsy, major psychiatric syndromes, and dementia provide in-depth analyses of these neurobehavioral entities and their neurobiological coordinates. Changes for this second edition include the reflection throughout the book of the new and flourishing alliance of behavioral neurology, neuropsychology, and neuropsychiatry with cognitive science;major revision of all chapters; new authorship of those on language and memory; and the inclusion of entirely new chapters on psychiatric syndromes and the dementias. Both as a textbook and a reference work, the second edition of Principles of Behavioral and Cognitive Neurology represents an invaluable resource for behavioral neurologists, neuropsychologists, neuropsychiatrists, cognitive and basic neuroscientists, geriatricians, physiatrists, and their students and trainees.
